Villa Monte Mar P6170 is a perfect holiday getaway to relax and unwind under unpolluted blue skies with all year around sunshine. The villa is set in a very private and peaceful country location, in all around natural wild shrub land plus mountain view and a glimpse of the sea.

A secure rural area with local village markets, festivals and affordable restaurants from 3 Km away. The offshore islands beckon with endless, uncrowded and sun-drenched beaches, easily accessed by either water taxis or small ferries docking below in Olhao or Fuseta, only 8 minutes away.

Extensive renovations and alterations turned this villa into a very spacious Algarve living style holiday home with veranda, pool, sundecks and lawn area also car parking all on one level affording an idyllic indoor/outdoor life style to unwind and soak up the sun.

Easy access to the A22 motorway brings all Algarve’s appealing entertainments, sport activities and even Spain to be very accessible, all within a 30minute drive.


The villa offers a spacious open plan lounge/dining area with scatter rugs on ceramic tiled floors, leading by a large hallway onto a veranda and pool area all on one level.

There is free Wi Fi Internet, Satellite TV with free view BBC/SKY, CNN etc., DVD, CD, Hi Fi, a classic guitar is available on request. Log fireplace, ceiling fans, mosquito screens all round plus selection of books and games.

A free for local calls Mobile phone to remain in contact with owner management, also ideal take along mobile for handy standby advice to make sure guests have a care free holiday

The two bedrooms accommodate 4 adults, plus a teenager on a fold out bed and a child in a cot. A highchair is also provided if required.

Both bedrooms are very private, situated at distant ends with easy access to the pool area, they both have climate control air conditioning plus ceiling fans and mosquito screens. The spacious ensuite main bedroom has a large Emperor size double bed plus futon fold out and the guest bedroom has twin singles, all new "Top Comfort" quality mattresses. All beds have freshly ironed cotton bed linen.

The main bathroom is ensuite while the guest bathroom is direct across a passage and both are fully equipped with crisp sundried cotton towels, hairdryer, shower caps and all the usual expendables and there is ample hot water. The main ensuite has a bath, separate shower, washbasin, bidet and toilet, while the second has a washbasin, large shower, toilet.

There is a large modern fully equipped kitchen with granite tops. Appliances include a fridge/freezer, gas hob, electric fan oven, natural extractor, microwave, coffee machine, toaster, food mixer, juicer etc. A separate corner scullery/laundry with sink, dishwasher, washing machine and steam iron, all fully stocked. A beach picnic cool-box is available for your convenience.


A very private large 4.6 x 9mts pool has a shallow kiddies landing step ranging down to 1mt and 2mts at the deep end. The pool is heated by a large solar installation and a pool cover to conserve the heat overnight.

Sundecks have sun lounger’s umbrellas, tables and chairs for alfresco dining. An additional gazebo area with a barbeque for alfresco dining and west facing veranda perfect for lazing away with sun downers whilst soaking up the spectacular sunsets.

The automated entrance gate has a pebble driveway to a circular secure parking, convenient for handicapped visitors to negotiate the garden, house, pool terraces all on one level free of ramps and riser steps.

A large mature garden with palm tree and a patch of lawn for the children to romp around.


The preferred changeover is Friday but we are flexible whenever dates fit in reasonably with other bookings. To allow for cleaning please vacate by 10am on the day of departure. Occupation on arrival is 2pm, however whenever possible we gladly adjust for earlier or later flights times.


A weekly combined pool and house cleaning service, a full change of linen, fresh cotton bath towels and also pool/beach towels are provided.

The villa is maintained with most usual household expendables all-inclusive at no extra cost. A welcome pack of wine, beer and some fridge essentials is provided to set your holiday off to a good start.


The villa is owner managed, they have over 13 years’ experience in renting their holiday properties. Their guest´s PRIVACY, SAFETY, SECURITY and wellbeing is most important to them and knowing holidays are the most precious times of all, special care is taken to ensure a care free holiday.


Our guest´s privacy being paramount we securely fenced the perimeter of our secluded 3500meters of private land and the entrance gate is fully automated.

Nobody, neither staff or management may enter the property without prior consent from the guests in residence.


Being an approved and licensed holiday property the villa is inspected and conforms to the comfort and safety standards such as:

Power failure warnings plus emergency lighting facility / Gas and Smoke detector alarms in the kitchen area / Strategically placed 2 category Fire Extinguishers plus Fire blanket and luminous Exit signs / First Aid Kit cupboard visibly wall mounted, to which we add extra anti-histamine tablets and creams to instantly reduce discomfort from stings and bites.


With rising unemployment unfortunately nicking to survive is on the increase and to prevent unpleasant break-in intrusions spoiling our guest’s holidays, we have taken pre-emptive action at all our villas by installing a top of the range, easy to operate Securitas Direct Alarm system with added external perimeter and internal intrusion sensor deterrents for the protection of your property whilst you are out and away from your villa.

Conveniently this alarm system also offers EXTRA PEACE OF MIND for emergency instant reaction as it is directly linked via GPS to Police Villa Vigilance Service / The Fire Brigade / Emergency Ambulance with Paramedic Service / Plus a mere touch of a button away from National Emergency Service 112 attention, all of whom readily speak English.


Villa Monte Mar P6170 is managed as a holiday villa by the owners, a retired couple from South Africa who have lived in the Algarve for many years. They have another 2 holiday properties with own pool, please refer to Villa Monte Fava P310 also cottage Ninho do Amor P1766

All 3 properties are approved and licensed for holiday letting. The owners love the Algarve and, knowing holidays are precious to us all, they are keen to furnish more information or advice so that you may make a happy choice and maybe return year after year.

About Karl and Daphne

As a young family we had a very happy 20 years of trading in the remote Zulu Kingdom of South Africa.

On being politically displaced in 1980 we retired early to the North Coast of Durban and 15 years of “part time farming” our beef ranch in remote northern Natal.

Having more leisure time we toured extensively and whilst in Europe we fell in love with the Algarve and promptly acquired a holiday villa, which inevitably in 1995 became our permanent home.

Having acquired more holiday villas to rent out we now enjoy meeting guests from around the world, many of whom are now our dearest friends.

Annually we visit our families in the southern summers of South Africa and Australia and returning home to enjoy and love the Algarve even more.

Net terug gekeerd van een week in het mooie huis van Karl en Daphne.

Prachtige omgeving niet ver van het leuke Moncarapacho.

Het huis is van alle gemakken voorzien en er was aan de kleinste details gedacht. Wij hadden dit nog nooit meegemaakt en hebben al diverse huizen gehuurd in deze streek. Ook het heerlijk witte beddengoed vonden wij top! Het huis was erg schoon en we kunnen dit huis zeker aanbevelen!

Clean, Well Presented, Good Layout, Very Welcoming

A very well kept property with very welcoming owners. nothing is too much trouble for Karl and Daphne. We have stayed in one of their other properties many years ago and this is of the same high standard. I cannot say how much I would recommend this villa or Monte Fava to other people. If you are going to the Algarve these are the places to stay.

A little gem of a property in a private location

This was the first time we had used owners direct, Karl the owner took away any concerns we may have had, he made regular contact with us before the holiday and then greeted us at the villa. We arrived early so he showed us a lovely place to get a coffee and bite to eat whilst the villa was cleaned. We were not disappointed by the villa, it is spacious and very well maintained, the pool is heated which makes it so inviting whatever time you want to take a dip. We had total privacy not overlooked at all, but what made this holiday for us was Karl, he made sure everything was attended to, making a special trip to the shops to bring us a new dvd player which we were not expecting. He has a mobile telephone with a list of essential contact numbers i.e. doctors, police which I thought was a great idea, thankfully not needed. If you are thinking of going to Portugal, try out the Eastern Algarve, Moncarapachio is a taste of the real Portugal with some fantastic beaches nearby. I would thoroughly recommend villa Monte Mar and hope we can go back again sometime very soon.

worth returning to

We have been to Monte mar twice now and love it. Peaceful & relaxing everything you want for the perfect holiday! The Casa is beautifully clean and very well equipped, the pool is perfect especially when it sparkles in the sun and tempts you in (lovely).

Karl is really friendly and helpful (I've learned about the carob tree) but always contacts you before he arrives on the mobile he leaves at the casa, great idea no unexpected visits.

The area is lovely, Tavira is well worth a visit, and the beach at Fuzeta reached by a short ferry trip is amazing.

Loved our holiday and hope to return.

Wonderful Holiday

We have been using Owners Direct to book our holidays for many years but this is the first time we have stayed in a villa and we hope it won't be our last! The villa was everything we could have wished for and enabled us to unwind and totally relax after a stressful year at work. Everything was spotlessly clean, the pool was wonderful for a cooling dip and we made good use of the BBQ during our stay. Lots of things that you wouldn't expect were provided; pool towels, washing powder, fuel for the BBQ, even a mobile phone to contact the owner Karl if we needed any help or advice. We would certainly love to return to Monte Mar at some point in the near future. If you're looking for a villa in a quiet location but within easy driving distance to local restaurants or the beach, then don't hesitate to book. Thanks again Karl.

The Algarve is Portugal's holiday playground, blessed with all year around sunshine, unpolluted blue skies and crystal clear seas.

Summers are very hot and dry, parched meadows and endless beaches with the cool Atlantic are a refuge from the heat of the day. Evenings are refreshingly cooler, and are ideal for dining out, listening traditional "Fado", some serious clubbing or simply good eating in the regions vast choice of restaurants, famous for fresh foods.

Spring and Autumn are milder and are preferred by many, still hot and mostly all blue skies with possibly a stray shower from winter rains restoring the lush green countryside and spectacular wild flowers.

Being a winter rainfall zone, Algarve Winters are surprisingly mild, with some colder days interspersed with days of warm sunny skies, cool evenings ideal for a heart-warming log fire were central heating is merely a surplus luxury.

Unlike central to west Algarve's bustling and crowded tourist resorts, our Eastern Algarve, having protected World Heritage wetlands and offshore islands, is fortunately spared from mega tourist developments. It consequently remains more traditionally Portuguese; the most friendly and polite people you could ever wish to meet.

An idyllic easy going lifestyle, with village markets, festivals, uncrowded beaches and all year wall to wall blue skies.

The region offers a wide variety of activities and entertainments, and is well served with shopping malls, regional produce and crafts.

For a change from beach life there is dolphin-watching, scuba-diving, surfing or sailing. You can also visit famous Oceanariums and swim with dolphins, splash away at Water Worlds or enjoy a luxury boat cruise along the spectacularly beautiful coastline. There are also the options of riding a bicycle, horse riding or walking in unspoilt countryside.

With golf as choice activity there are Europe's top courses to hand, and in the Algarve nowhere is too far away to go.

MONCARAPACHO (3Km). The nearest town has a welcoming atmosphere, small market and local pottery as well as the usual shopping amenities. Further on is FUSETA town on the waterfront, from where a short hop across by little ferry takes you to the popular Island beach. Onwards on your way towards the well liked TAVIRA a town which in itself is a fast growing tourist area and well worth a visit, is SANTA LUZIA with rows of restaurants along a lovely palm lined waterfront, from where you may hire water taxis to enjoy your own private beach paradise for the day. Nearby is a miniature rail which crosses the marshes to endlessly long island beach of Isla Barril.

OLHAO (7Km.) is a flourishing old fishing town, and has a small harbour and jetty with small ferries and water taxis that shuttle across to the nearby island beaches. These include Armona and Culatra, as well as the distant light house island of Farol. On the waterfront is a famous undercover fresh fish and vegetable market, inside two huge Moorish style halls. A bustling daily market is a must see for an insight into day-to-day Algarve life. An endless choice of restaurants makes this town a seafood paradise.

AZINHEIRO (Nearby (5Km) Is a small hamlet saddling the mountain ridge. Located in a narrow crossways linking Monte Miguel, Sao Bras, Estoi and Olhao, there is the popular local snack bar O Rissol owned by very friendly Paulo and Sandra who speak perfect English.

ESTOI (.8Km) Is a prominent old town in the foothills of the Calderao mountain range. The recently restored "Pink" Palacio de Estoi is a true sleeping beauty palace and, with the Milrue Roman Temple ruins further along, well worth a visit.

SAO BRAS (12Km.). Is a bustling inland town nestling against the lovely outback cork hills. It has all the convenient shopping amenities and very affordable restaurants, along with the ever popular phenomena Luis dos Frangos, or just "Chicken Louis"

FARO (20Km) Is the capital town and has quaint old cobbled shopping walkways and the nearby fortressed old town is well worth a meander. The ancient cathedral bell tower provides a splendid view over the city, wetlands lagoons and inland hills.

From the small marina in the town centre boats offer group tours of the Ria Formosa Wetland Reserve with its famous birdlife, and also visit pristine Isla Deserta for idyllic beachcombing amid a myriad seashell.

The very modern Algarve Forum shopping mall on the outskirts of town offers good retail therapy with specialist chain stores, cinemas, and restaurants.


The nearest airport of Faro is only 20 minutes away and is served by many budget airlines such as EasyJet, Monarch, Ryanair, Jet2, Airberlin etc. At times some national airlines also offer direct flights in to Faro.

The alternative Portuguese airport of Lisbon is only 3hrs drive, Seville airport in Spain is only 2 hours away. Some guests take a leisurely drive to the Algarve which in itself is a lovely scenic trip with interesting stop overs along the way.
