About James and Francine Colling

James and Francine have three small boys and love everything France has to offer for a family. We are well qualified to act as your holiday hosts as James has many years experience within the corporate hospitality industry and is fully aware of clients expectations. He is well placed to advise on wines and gourmet experiences should this be of interest to you. Francine was a primary school teacher for many years and is well qualified in providing for people on holiday with children.

James and Francine Colling purchased this cottage in 2008

Why James and Francine Colling chose Thouarsais-Bouildroux

We brought the property as a result of its uniqueness and love at first sight and our numerous clients comment on the tranquility of the setting. It has a very unique setting as our property was originally the chateau for the church and is set within a very private courtyard with now passing traffic but close to many amenities. We have fantastic views over the surrounding countryside and the buildings are of architectural significance all set within two and a half hectares.

What makes this cottage unique

Having previously holidayed in France ourselves we found a number of places we stayed in were lacking. We have endeavoured to tick all the boxes and provide everything you could want for the perfect holiday. We are conveniently located for everything and have a great supply of local information for you upon arrival. One guest referred to our setting as being like Camelot such is the magical setting. We offer many extra events like gourmet evenings/wine tastings to make your holiday with us even more memorable. This has been considered as a great treat especially for those with young children who find it more difficult to get out in the evening. We hope to be able to welcome you with us for your next holiday in France in the Vendee and assure you a warm welcome awaits all year around.

Beautiful and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Eglise House with our two children who are 6 and 4. The house is beautiful and well kept with lovely period features. Francine and James are lovely hosts and were really helpful with knowledge on the local area and booking activities.

The area itself is amazing - lots to do - Mervent forest with cycle tracks galore, play parks, horses riding and restaurants. Have to say we just enjoyed sitting outside until late having had a BBQ!

Thank you for our stay we will definitely be back.

Perfect Gite in a perfect location. Accurate description, identical to what was advertised. Immaculately clean, well-maintained and every detail thought about - condiments, washing products, washing line, pegs, adaptors, hairdryer etc etc! - basically every thing you could have wanted was there! A real home from home. Beautiful location, very French! & would recommend to friends and family. Owners James & Fran were wonderful; brilliant holiday, so pleased we booked!

Don't miss out...

  • 5 of 5

This is a fabulous property, the owners Fran and James are delightful and could not have been more helpful. The gite, pool and grounds are lovely and there was so much to do all less than a 45 minute drive away that we never even made it to the famed Vendee beaches! I can thoroughly recommend both the property and the area as a place to visit. We had 2 sets of grandparents, a 15 year old, a 12 year old and a 6 year old with us and there was something for everyone, by the end of our 2 week stay there were still many things we hadn't done that we would have liked to do. I can't wait for a chance to go back!
