A romantic one-bedroom villa just for two, this island retreat near the village of Skala on Kefalonia is the perfect place for a honeymoon or special holiday. Villa Athena is set on a hillside in a beautiful rural location and was built and furnished with luxury and comfort in mind. The site was chosen for its superb sea views across to the Greek mainland and to the neighbouring island of Zante and also for its proximity to some of Kefalonia's best sandy beaches. The villa is not remote, but there are no close neighbours.
On the ground floor, you will find a light and airy open plan living/dining area with carefully chosen furnishings in muted colours. Leading off is a well equipped kitchen and also a downstairs shower room. Patio doors lead you outside to a covered dining area overlooking your own private swimming pool.
The bedroom suite on the first floor comprises an en-suite bathroom, dressing area with full-length mirror and ample wardrobes, and bedroom with queen-size (5 ft.) divan bed of top quality. Glazed doors lead from the bedroom onto a spacious balcony with table and chairs where you can relax, have morning refreshments and enjoy the amazing views of the surrounding countryside and the Ionian Sea
Outside, your swimming pool is equipped with a jacuzzi and the pool is surrounded by a large, well screened, patio for sunbathing plus a pergola for some shade. Here you will also find a purpose built charcoal barbeque with the necessary equipment. The villa is set in its own private garden with a driveway leading to ample off-street parking.

Jean and Andrew Hoare are the owners of Villa Athena. We live nearby and are at hand should guests require any help or advice. We have been in this business for nine years, and have hosted more than one hundred couples of varying ages during this time. Some of them were honeymooners, other were celebrating a birthday or a wedding anniversary, but most just came for a "get away from it all" holiday. They could be as active or as relaxed as suited them.

First time to Kefalonia, a lovely island and a beautifully positioned, well appointed home from home.
The property is perfect for two and we spent many happy hours enjoying the pool and the views from the terrace.
We felt well cared for with comfortable loungers, abundant towels, a welcome pack including cava and home made marmalade and the perfect hosts in Andrew and Jean.
Our stay was enlivened by a dramatic storm and a minor earth tremor and all the better for it.
A home from home with the luxury of permanent sunshine & that gorgeous infinity pool! The welcome pack was most definately welcome as was the local wine and Andrews delicious Marmalade! The local area was lovely, it's definately worth venturing upto Old Skala where you will find the Kerlari Taverna with it's fabulous views which include the villa and the food was great too! Missing it already! Would definately recommend Villa Athena to everyone!
The villa is just perfect, the views are breathtaking and will live long in the memory banks. Our two week stay seemed longer and very relaxing as Andrew and Jean had thought of everything! We will most certainly be back. Skala is a friendly, relaxed resort with some lovely restaurants which has still managed to retain a village feel.
We have just returned from our 3rd stay at Villa Athena, and once again quality rules. Everything is perfect. Andrew and Jean are so friendly and hospitable, the location and views are breath taking and as you enter the Villa you know instantly you have found a gem. The pool is so refreshing, and as you relax and unwind, the cares of everyday life disappear and a calmness will descend over you. The local Tavernas serve hot and delicious food ,and the town of Scala is so quaint and enticing, you ll love browsing the shops and strolling along the promenade. Like us , once you have visited you will never want to leave. It offers everything for a super holiday and as I write this we are sorting out our plans to enjoy a 4th trip to this beautiful Island to really enjoy the wonders of Athena.
The nearby sandy beaches of Mounda and Kaminia with crystal clear water are only 1km. away. Skala, for shopping and dining, with its Blue Flag beach is 3km by road.
The island's airport is approximately 45 minutes by car and the island's capital (Argostoli) is about 60 minutes. The ferry ports nearest to this property are at Poros (Approx. 20 minutes by car) and at Sami (Approx. 40 minutes). Car hire is definitely recommended for this villa, although a taxi service is available to and from the airport and in Skala village. The owners can give details and advice regarding car hire. Detailed road directions will be sent to guests prior to their arrival.
The nearest taverna is at 1km. in the village of Ratzakli, while in Skala (3km.)there is a much wider choice of restaurants together with a variety of shops and mini-markets and also a cash point.
A Holiday Information Sheet, with all necessary information regarding the villa including road directions from the airport, will be emailed to guests prior to their arrival. A welcome pack awaits your arrival, so the fridge will be stocked with some basic provisions. The owners, Andrew & Jean Hoare, live in a villa nearby but they fully respect your privacy. They can be contacted if you require help or advice.

Prices for the property are in GB Pounds, but payments in Euros can be arranged at a fixed exchange rate.
We accept bookings for any length of stay of 5 nights or more. We are flexible with regard to which days of the week you want to start and end on, but retain a discretion when your choice leaves an unsold space on the calendar of 4 or fewer days.
Our system is that a 25% non-returnable rental deposit is payable straightaway and the receipt and acceptance of this payment secure your booking. The balance of rent is not due until 8 weeks before your arrival date, or immediately when there are less than 8 weeks to run.
Payments may be made by debit or credit card through the card payment facility on this website or through the Stripe secure payments facility on our own private website. There are also other payment methods (please enquire).
