The villa looks out to sea from the edge of the village, it is reached on foot by a 150 m pedestrian path from the village square. The villa is 20 m above sea level with an uninterrupted 180 degree sea view over the Jardim do Mar surf break. Facing South West it enjoys spectacular sunsets and moonlight seascapes. The upper floor provides our own accommodation when we visit Madeira and is not offered for rental. This upper floor will be unoccupied from April to September. The lower floor provides a self-contained guest apartment with one en-suite double bedroom and one en-suite twin bedroom, a lounge looking out over the private pool and garden to the sea and a fully fitted kitchen with fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. There is TV and Wi Fi internet. A third en-suite double bedroom which is accessed from the entrance hall is available at a small extra cost. There is a separate laundry room. The cliff top location and the pool mean that small children will require close supervision. For more information and pictures visit our website by using the link on the Facilities page.
We have spent the past 10 winters at Casa Pontinha where we occupy the upper floor. The lower floor provides self contained guest accommodation for our family. From April to September the upper floor is unoccupied, and we offer the lower floor for rent.
Ray & Margaret Dolman purchased this villa in 2004
Jardim do Mar is generally recognized as Madeira's prime location for a quiet relaxed holiday in a traditional Portuguese village. Casa Pontinha enjoys the most spectacular views in this unique village.
I want to say that we had a lovely time once again at Casa Pontinha. Lucia was waiting for us in the square, and made us welcome as usual. The new garden is lovely. Jardim do Mar is a wonderful location and the position of the house absolutely sensational. We have rented houses all over the place but I cannot think of another where everything had been so carefully thought out. Nikki May 2012
I wanted to let you know what an absolutely wonderful time we had. The villa exceeded all expectations and with the stunning location this ranks as one of the best holidays we’ve ever had. We’ll definitely be returning in the future and will tell everyone what a fabulous place it is!! Nicky Aug 2012
We really enjoyed Casa Pontinha, the quiet of the house and the astonishing sunsets. The house was really comfortable, and everything worked perfectly.
We loved Madeira and are planning to come back soon.

We had a fantastic stay at this lovely villa. The pool and garden were wonderful and made our holiday, one of the best views we have had. Our children had a great time in the pool and at the local beach. Madeira was a great place to visit but would come back just to stay at this villa.
A truly fantastic house in a beautiful location. Spacious and very well maintained. Ray and Margaret were very responsive to email enquiries and exceptionally helpful. Highly recommended!
Beautiful villa in a stunning location. Just returned from a fantastic holiday in Jardim do Mar, our first visit to Madeira. This villa is great and has everything we wanted for our stay, it is really spacious has a great pool and is situated in probably the best location in this lovely quiet village. There are bars and restaurants within walking distance (all great) and around 15 minutes by car from the supermarket at Calheta.
Also, it was great to have the underground garage to park the hire car out of the heat. The owners run this villa very professionally and communication is excellent - thanks Ray. Already saving up for next year...
Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to enjoy your lovely house and to explore Madeira. When I get frazzled I just shut my eyes and think of that amazing view from your terrace, with the total lack of noise. You have thought of everything to make our stay comfortable
We have completely fallen in love with everything about your house and the island. Such friendly people, crazy language, superb fishing/ swimming/snorkeling - good advice from local people as to the best places for all. Dolphin chasing. Levada walking. Fish and flower market. Cable car, gardens and toboggans. Great food to enjoy in and out.
Absolutely superb. And we would love to come back sometime if you would let us. We feel so rested.
Our very best wishes to you both
We have visited Madeira in February 2014 and stayed in Villa Oceana and Villa Pontinha.
The villas, the location and the service is absolutely sensational.
You will see many tourists in the village en-charmed by the views the best of which is from Villa Pontinha. Rent this villa if you can afford. Villa Atlantica and Oceana are also superb. Satistaction guaranteed. It is a reasonable drive to Funchal courtesy of several tunnels. Some of the star levadas are also close, and the Nick Faldo golf course is soon opening nearby. Highly recommended.
The village has pebble beaches suitable for swimming at each end of the promenade. The promenade is accessed directly from the villa by a flight of 80 steps.
Funchal airport and city are 45 mins drive along the new coast road.
The small village of Jardim do Mar looks out to sea at the foot of spectacular cliffs. Just 45 minutes’ drive from the airport on the sunny southwest-facing shore, this tranquil unspoilt village of old stone houses and cobbled footpaths is considered to be one of the most beautiful on the island. It has a small hotel, 2 friendly bars, a restaurant, and a village shop. A new car park at the edge of the village leaves the square largely free of cars, and there is a seafront pedestrian promenade lined with palm trees. The little harbour has a clean pebble beach for swimming and snorkelling, with a shower and beach bar. The next village Calheta (5 min. drive) has a busy marina, a sandy bathing beach, shops and several more restaurants. Whale and dolphin watching or fishing excursions can be arranged from Calheta. Some of the island's finest scenery and walking are within a 20 minute drive into the mountains.
