Rampieux Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description

Farmhouse in Monpazier, Nr. Beaumont, Aquitaine, France - Private Pool And Breathtaking Views

Fauvet is a beautifully converted barn and farmhouse with a private pool situated in the heart of the Perigord countryside. The house, which is situated 30 minutes south of Bergerac, is surrounded by fields and woodland with unbroken views stretching to Chateau Biron, just beyond Monpazier. The small towns of Beaumont and Monpazier are 7 and 10km away, close enough for the morning bread run. The house can comfortably accommodate two families (up to 14 beds), but is also frequently used for couples while still feeling cosy.

About Susan Wilmot

We are a young family living in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside and for us Fauvet is a home from home. Our holidays in France are the highlights of our year and the children especially look forward to being reacquainted with their favourite haunts..

Susan Wilmot purchased this farmhouse in 1970

Why Susan Wilmot chose Perigord Pourpre

Fauvet was bought in 1972 by my father-in-law. He bought it as a retreat, deep in the French countryside. Since then the house has evolved considerably, but the atmosphere remains the same.

We love the area because although there is plenty to do (for all ages) we also love the slow, rural pace. A perfect day is spent around the pool, with perhaps a trip to the local market, or cafe for a coffee. For the more active and adventurous, there are several places where you can hire canoes for the day, or a couple of hours, within an easy drive of the house. Also a park where you can climb and zip wire amongst the trees.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Fauvet is situated in a beautiful and entirely unspoilt corner of the Dordogne. From the garden the only other visible building is the Chateau Biron, in the distance, 20km from the house. The rest is fields and, woodlands. We are, though, an easy drive to the region's medieval towns, castles and vineyards. My favourite time of day is early evening when the sun has reached the west terrace and you can watch the birds swoop, accompanied by a bottle of wine. Later, if you are lucky, you might catch the sound of a scops owl.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a fantastic holiday we had at Fauvet. Your beautiful house was a joy to stay in as ever. Please can we come back again in two years' time? (2013)

So much space, inside and out!

  • 5 of 5

This charming house was everything we'd hoped it would be. For our party of eight, including six older "children" (aged 14-25), it was ideal, as there was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and claim their own bit of space, but also some lovely, good-sized areas for when we all wished to get together for food and boardgames etc. We enjoyed eating our meals outside every night, including several BBQs, using the BBQ equipment provided. The swimming pool and good quality table tennis table were both big hits with the entire family and many hours were spent by all, swimming or just lounging by the pool.

Location wise, this property delivered the best of both worlds; wonderfully peaceful and private surroundings, whilst also being perfectly situated for quick trips to the supermarket and nearby markets in Montpazier and Beaumont. Other trips out included visits to Bergerac, Chateau de Biron, Les Jardins de L'Imaginaire, high rope adventure and kayaking on the Dordogne - all from our wonderful base camp at Fauvet.

Our contact with the owner of the property was 100% positive and she was both quick and helpful in her replies. At the end of two very enjoyable weeks, we did not want to leave Fauvet and would happily return in the future.

Amazing Holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had the most amazing stay at Fauvet a couple of weeks ago.

There were 8 adults, 4 toddlers and 3 newborns and it was just perfect.

The house is huge and we never felt like we were on top of each other at all.

All the rooms are bedrooms are beautiful and had more than enough room for us plus a travel cot.

The kids loved sharing the space that sat above the kitchen as it felt like their own little den.

We spent most of our time sat around the gated pool and playing in the garden.

The kids loved collecting eggs with the farmer next door for their breakfast in the mornings as well.

We headed out to the night market in the local town of Beaumont one night which was such good fun.

The house is set in such a perfect location as you can have total privacy or you can venture out to the stunning villages.

We will 100% be coming back.

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

Anneka and gang.

Great house in beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We totally love this beautiful, historic farmhouse and its amazing setting. Fauvet has so much going for it for family holidays - set in peaceful countryside, the only near neighbours being a delightful, friendly, elderly farming couple (try their hens' delicious eggs!), yet with the stunning bastide towns of Monpazier and Beaumont (and an award winning bakery and a supermarket) all within 15 minutes drive. In fact, it really does tick all the boxes for us.

Even with 14 of us in residence, the house felt spacious and uncrowded (and cool, with the temperature outside in the high 30s for much of our visit!). Some parts of the very old house retain their original features and character, whereas the recently converted wing provides all mod cons.

The children (and the adults!) spent many hours in the lovely (securely fenced) pool and the new table tennis table was another huge hit.

This was our fourth visit to Fauvet and we all very much hope to return. The owners are unfailingly helpful with pre holiday planning, always happy to answer any queries and the guys in France who look after the house and pool always make sure both are maintained to a high standard.

In short - we simply cannot recommend Fauvet highly enough.

Converted Farmhouse in a beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

Lovely House, close to the towns of Monpazier and Beaumont de Perigord. Peaceful location, the house has everything you need for a perfect family holiday. The children were occupied with the swimming pool, table tennis and other games that were there for them to use. Good kitchen utensils, crockery, and glassware. Great for two families or one large family to stay. Lots of places to visit in the area all within a short drive. During our stay, there were markets a plenty and evening events. Would certainly stay here again, highly recommended.

Le Fauvet

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful house and location. House is full of character and very spacious - we barely used the back part of the house at all, as the lovely big main room was all we needed. Bedrooms are really comfortable and bathrooms modern and well-equipped. Outside space is amazing - the house is surrounded by fields and has fantastic views across to a castle - our kids played in the garden and pool all day every day and picked thousands of blackberries! Pool area is great and the fence makes a big difference if kids are small. Our extended family loved this house and had a wonderful holiday. We loved the region of France too. I hope we'll return one day.
