Village House in Salema, Western Algarve - Part Of A Small Resort With A Heated Pool. Seven Minutes Steep Walk To A Sandy Beach

People tell us we have the best view in the whole resort. This is L11 a village house which has been built to very high specifications. It sits in a small resort with landscaped grounds and enjoys the most breathtaking sea and coastal views. The property has air-conditioning / heating, 3 large terraces and the use of the large resort pool which also has a toddler pool and a raised small sea view pool. The fishing village of Salema is a seven minute walk down the hill and has not only the great sandy beach but numerous very good local restaurants and bars. You can get the catch of the day off the boats in the morning if you are a keen cook! Parque da Floresta is a few minutes in the car and has been voted one of the Top Ten Algarve golf courses. Here there are also tennis courts and kids football camps.

We had a really special time here - staring out at the sea from the balcony, it was magical. Any problems that we had - how to get a taxi, which are the best restaurants and understanding the aircon were dealt with so well by the House Manager Sam, who is very friendly and down to earth. We love the algarve anyhow but have never stayed in a place with such a great view.

Coast/Beach:

Salema beach is a 7 minute walk away down a steep hill and is covered in beautiful golden sand framed by cliffs either side, the beach has 2 very good restaurants Altlantico and Boia. There are many beaches along the western Algarve: Zavial, Martinhal (windsurfing), Armado (surfing), Burgau (sheltered).

Travel:

The nearest airport is Faro International Airport and is 1 hours drive away.

Distances:

Salema village is a 5 - 10 minute walk away down a steep hill and has a handful of shops, with some great cafes, bars and excellent restaurants overlooking the beach. Cosmopolitan Lagos is 20 minutes drive and has many places of historic interest, traditional architecture and a fantastic marina and beach. They have a market there the first Saturday of each month. And numerous shops and restaurants, there are also a good few night clubs there.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: This house has a no smoking policy. If you wish to hire cots or highchairs please ask. Stair gates are not suitable for our stairs although the house is child friendly! The house does have underfloor heating in the bedrooms and bathrooms however if you wish to use this an additional charge of £45 per week will be charged and you need to state at the time of booking that you will wish to use this facility. The bedrooms have wall air-con/heating units as does upstairs living area which also has a wood burning stove. There is wifi connection in the house . There is no working safe in the house. Outside: There are 3 private terraces all with sea views, and there is seating and a table on the main terrace while the other 2 terraces have 2 sun loungers . The bedroom terrace has a further small, lawned section in front and to the side the sea view here is restricted although still lovely. Utility Room: Please bring some of your own beach towels from home. Some are provided but may not be enough for everyone. A hairdryer is provided. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and bathroom towels are provided. Beds will all be made up on arrival and the townhouse will be thoroughly clean. Further cleaning can be arranged during your stay if you wish and this will be charged as extra. Other: Wrought iron spiral staircase from main terrace up to roof terrace. Gas barbecue.

A tired property with a good view of the sea and beach

The property is in need of a little tender loving care. When we booked it the owner said it was a premium property hence the premium price. On arrival the TV and DVD player did not work, a beer bottle full of used cigarette butts was on the terrace, the terrace table was badly rusted with sharp metal edges, some of the chairs were broken and two of the apartment bins were broken. It took 5 days to get the TV fixed and the DVD player never got fixed or even looked at. All in all quite disappointing for the monies paid. We have stayed in a different flat in the View before and did not experience anything like this. Other guests were surprised to hear of our problems.

Owner's Response: Dear Tim I am so sorry that you felt it necessary to post this review especially after we communicated after your holiday ( which was the first I heard of your upset). I spoke with my manager of the property and was told that the Tv was not reported by you until 4 days into your stay and also that the broken DVD player was replaced immediately for you. The beer bottle on the terrace as I said to you in my email was indeed unpleasant but was obviously sadly overllooked by the cleaners and I apologise for this. The table and chairs of which you spoke are a small side table and chair in the roof terrace not the main table and chairs that are brand new as is much of the furniture, I have asked for this side table and chair to be removed but they are not quite as you reported. The property itself is as freshly painted and furnished as the rest in the View as they are all kept up to date . I am so sorry that you were disappointed I really am as much as I am surprised. We do pride ourselves on having a lovely property and I wish you had contacted me during your stay with your concerns and I would have immediately put them right, sadly there is nothing I can do after your stay. It has also been reported that you complained last year about your stay in a different property .Kind regards

The property is fantastic. Views to die for and all the necessary amenities.

We had an amazing time in this Villa and Salema. The Villa is fantastic with some amazing views of the sea and the fishing village. Great swimming pool just one minute walk away. Amazing restaurants and amazing beaches. Just be aware that the resort is very hilly. We were fine but a car may be needed if you struggle walking. The whole booking procedure via HomeAway was easy and we will definitely be returning. Five Stars & Great value.
