The place spans from the fertile reclaimed land bordering the ‘Lake of Massaciuccoli’ to the hill that faces onto the sea front in between Camaiore and Massarosa. The property called ‘Frantoio del Monte’ was till 1960 the official oil mill of this region. Then it was bought by the Gemma family from Viareggio who went on to press olives till 1990. The main historical building plus barn and stables have been expensively renovated to a very high standard and now offer five elegant apartments, two on each floor (there is a lift) plus an independent house.

About Olivi Rita
My name is Rita. I am 64 and my husband Romano is 68. We live in Viareggio at about 300m from the district Marco Polo. We love this town very much for its beautiful sea and clean air and especially for the possibility of enjoing the sweet atmosphere offered by the wonderful promenade. We like to walk or to go by byke very early in the morning along the promenade to taste the silence of the first hours of the day. I met my husband in Viareggio at school, then we got married in the year 1974, we have two sons, Riccardo and Renato who are now 38 and 31 years old. We bought this apartment in the year 2008.
Olivi Rita purchased this Apartment in 2000
Why Olivi Rita chose Quiesa
We bought this property in 1965 because we wanted a place among nature where we could find relax and old traditions. The restoration of the old building took place in the year 2000. My husband and I often go with guests to the nearby hills where it is possible to admire wonderful panoramas and typical rural villages with very simple people. We use to leave very early in the morning to avoid heat and to enjoy peace and beautiful colours of the early hours.
What makes this Apartment unique
When we are at the property we like to enjoy the smell of flowers and the green all around. Olive trees, cypress, and every kind of trees, lemon trees, oranges. We like to harvest olives in October and taste the extra virgin olive oil, very green and spicy on the "bruschette". We like to reach the beach of Viareggio in the morning and to stay at the pool in the afternoon. In this place there are several possibilities to spend a great holiday: famous Tuscan towns like Pisa, Lucca, Florence, Siena, walking, trips by boat to tje 5 Lands (5 Terre) or around the Massaciuccoli Lake, excursions to the Apuan Alps to the splendid Garfagnana Region. Everything is reachable in few time. We never get bored. We like also to go by bike to the nearby villages of Balbano, Massaciuccoli and Nozzano.

Very lovely stay, nice pool, lost to do/see in surroundings
After a warm welcome by the owners (Rita and her husband) we had a lovely stay in the apartment. It is very spacious and had everything you need for a holiday. The surrounding garden is lovely ( olive trees and citrus) and has a lot of shadow. Also nice swing for the kids and Table tennis. The pool is heaven. After a hot day and a visit of the surroundings ( lucca 20 minutes, Pisa 30 minutes, florenz 1h, mountains 45minutes, beach 20 minutes) it is very nice to have a swim. Also an entiry day at the pool is very pleasant. There is a bbq and pizza oven in the garden, and fun to use with other guests. Area is very safe with children (ours 4/6 years), because everything is surroundend by a fence/trees. We had a lovely stay. It was heaven on earth.
