Chalet La Boîte à Musique is a traditional wooden chalet situated in the village of Morzine at the heart of the Portes du Soleil offering easy access to both the Morzine-Les Gets and Avoriaz ski areas. The chalet has been carefully restored to create a traditional and homely feel, providing the perfect base to enjoy your summer or winter holiday.
Chalet La Boîte à Musique has three bedrooms, two shower rooms and can easily accommodate 8 people. It also has a spacious and comfortable living area with an open plan lounge, kitchen, dining room as well as a large terrace and garden.
The chalet boasts amazing panoramic views of the village and surrounding mountains. Its ideal location allows you to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the mountains but yet the pretty village of Morzine is only a few minutes walk away.
The chalet has internet access to keep everyone happy!
Other services we are able to offer in conjunction with the French couple who manage our chalet are airport transfers, evenings meals cooked for you and drinks deliveries.
We had a great holiday and thoroughly enjoyed The Music Box. The location was ideal for our friends apartment and the older children loved the loft bedrooms! We were lucky with the weather and only had one white out day - when actually the slopes were quiet and we had some pistes to ourselves which was amazing for half term week.
We had a wonderful couple of weeks in Morzine at the beautiful chalet la Boite a Musique. We enjoyed lots of meals on the terrace with breathtaking views down the valley. The sun was out almost every day and there is so much to see and do in the Summer. Great walking, cycling, swimming, zip wiring, luge and lots of mountain restaurants were open too. We would like to have tried the golf at Les Gets but ran out of time! We even got to see the Tour de France finish in the village.
The chalet is located a short walk away from morzine centre. It is a peaceful location with fabulous views accross the valley, situated in its our garden. Perfect for our young family. The chalet itself was spacious and full character.
Morzine itself is a pretty town with lots to do for all ages. We will be coming back to explore some more!
We had such a fun stay in Morzine. We are a family of 6 and we travelled for 10 weeks around Europe and this was our favourite place of all, kids and adults included! There is so much to do in Morzine in the summer, we could have stayed much longer. The chalet is gorgeous and comfortable, plus there is a huge garden for picnics and playing. There are even deer and goats in the adjacent field. Picture perfect mountain stay! Thanks very much Claire, we will be back.
Very comfortable chalet, excellent help and assistance from both the owners and from Carol and Fred who look after the chalet from Morzine. Wonderful sunny breakfasts on the terrace. Very reasonable transfer from Geneva via Fred and his van which accommodated all five of us, including three downhill bikes. Three boys went biking each day and we used the multi pass, which for 50 euros gave us access to all the buses and ski lifts within the area for two weeks - fabulous high level walking each day with the excitement of chair lift views!
Family of six visiting early February 2016.
For those of you not driving to the resort or hiring a car from Geneva I would strongly recommend using Carol & Fred, who help maintain the Music Box whilst the owners are away, to help you with transfers, shopping and providing evening meals (if you wish) all at a reasonable price. They are a French couple with a good command of English and they certainly got our holiday off to a good start. Fred is an ex chef and restuarant owner from Les Gets and the two meals he provided us were excellent. Good company too!
As for the chalet it was more than described; it accomodated the six of us with room to spare but perhaps its best feature was it's location. Indeed my son who were visiting (who has spent several winter seasons in Morzine) expressed the view that it was one of the best chalet locations he had experienced and would buy it tomorrow if the opportunity arose (unfortunately he has no money!). Set on a hill with very little surrounding property it over-looked the Morzine valley and the views were stunning. A little out of town but not too difficult a walk and buses are available until early evening.
Apart from the obvious trips to the mountains there are things to do in Town. We found the regular Ice Hockey matches to be fun and one night we had the olympic size ice rink to ourselves on one of the public late night sessions. I understand the swimming pool is good also. My favourite retuarant was L'Etale; a bit noisy but undoubtedly an atmosphere to remember and the food was excellent.
The only negative really were the add-on costs (perhaps I should have read the literature) e.g. bed linen and chalet cleaning. Perhaps include these in the price (which was very reasonable anyway) in the future?
All in all a great holiday and a great Chalet.
This is our second stay at this chalet and we made good use of the chalet transfer facility and catering for two meals , both were faultless and very reasonably priced. The chalet facilities have also been improved by the addition of the Internet and French tv as well as the previous English tv and video library.
The chalet was warm, homely and comfortable and we will definitely use it again.
