Villa in Gennadi, Nr. Lindos, Rhodes, Greek Islands - Traditional Village Location, 10 Minute Walk To The Beach
Registered with the Greek Tourism Board (EOT) licence no: 1476K100A0391101
Villa Alexander is one of only 4 beautifully designed modern villas that make up the small, exclusive development of Gennadi Hills, located on the edge of the traditional, year round village of Gennadi on the South East coast. Ideally situated in peaceful surroundings of olive groves and open countryside yet just a few minutes stroll to the village where there is a good range of facilities including supermarkets, a bakery, green-grocery, ATM, motor cycle hire and a number of bars and tavernas. A short walk takes you to one of the island's coveted blue flag beaches and beach front tavernas. A little further along the beach is a modern beach bar serving good food, drink and cocktails and providing free sunbeds. A pharmacy and medical centre are located between the village and beach.
The villa's split level, air-conditioned ground floor comprises a fully fitted kitchen including a dishwasher, lounge, separate dining area and bathroom. The two en-suite bedrooms on the first floor have their own private sea view balconies and air-conditioning. Outside there is a south facing private pool, garden, 2 large terrace areas for sunbathing and alfresco dining, a traditional Greek BBQ and ample off road parking.
The location would ideally suit families and couples of all ages.

About Janet Biles
We live and work near Plymouth in South West England after relocating from along the coast in Dorset where our five grown up children and four grandchildren live. We started holidaying in Rhodes in 2002 and like many visitors we fell in love with the beauty of the island, the history and the hospitality of Rhodians. In 2007 we decided to look at buying a holiday home and potential retirement property.
Janet Biles purchased this Villa in 2008
Why Janet Biles chose South Aegean
There was never any question that Rhodes was where we wanted to buy and having got to know the Island well and looking at properties in various locations we decided that the traditional village of Gennadi, away from the busy tourist areas yet has everything you could want within walking distance, was the ideal setting. It was in late 2008, after much searching, we looked at the concrete shells that were to become the Gennadi Hills properties. Our minds were made up when we saw the fantastic views over the sea, the equally beautiful mountains along the coast above Pefkos and the wonderful landscape towards the southern tip of the island. The design is in keeping with the traditional look of the village yet with a modern feel.
What makes this Villa unique
The villa was completed in June 2009 and we spent a busy few weeks furnishing and equipping it to ensure our guests had everything they needed for a relaxing holiday. The villa is named after Derek’s late father, as fittingly Alexander is a prominent name in Greek history. We have enjoyed holidays with our parents, children and grandchildren at the villa. We love our time in Gennadi and enjoy nothing more than being able to sit outside until late at night in the peaceful surroundings and then waking up to the glorious views in the morning. Due to work commitments we can only visit a few times a year at present, however it gives us a great deal of pleasure when people have enjoyed their holidays at Villa Alexander and say that they have had a peaceful, relaxing, and fulfilling time.

A super villa in a very friendly town.
The villa is beautiful. It is uncluttered, easy to find what you need, and child friendly. The town is very friendly and we really enjoyed eating and drinking at the restaurants, tavernas and cafes. The bakery, greengrocer and supermarket kept us supplied with anything else we needed. Gennadi is a very convenient base for exploring the beaches and sights in the south of the island - Glystra Beach, Prasonisi, Lindos and Monolithos among them.
Beautiful Villa in a great location
Can't fault the villa, ideal for a family stay. Very well equipped and thoughtfully planned. Pool was great. The location is really good, nice and quite, yet within easy reach of a few tavernas and bars. Well located for the local beach and to visit other parts of the island. I'd recommend Glystra beach for families.
Me and my husband went for our honey-moon and it was the perfect destination! Beautiful views beautiful weather.
Quality villa in a peaceful setting
Our second visit to Villa Alexander and we were glad we came back. Previous reviews say it all, this is a clean well presented and spacious villa which has everything you might need. Our children joined us for a few days and the accommodation was very adequate for 6 adults, they were impressed with their first Greek villa holiday.
We like this area because it is well off the Rhodes beaten track in a fairly typical Greek village and the setting of the villa is great. Although Gennadi is small it has all the amenities you could want. The supermarket sells everything, try their pork chops on the barbecue, and the local bakery was impossible to walk past without seeing what they had in the way of freshly baked cakes. The local tavernas give you a range of different settings. We always had top quality meals wherever we went but have to say that Mamas Kitchen does the best pizzas we have had in a long time.
The beach is pebbly but only a short walk and gives you a choice of tavernas to relax over lunch before using their free (if you buy a meal) sun beds. All the prices are very reasonable and the food quality, as usual, outstanding.
Gennadi is ideal for seeing the south of the island, obviously you need a car, go to Prassonsi to see the kite surfers followed by a fish lunch at the Plimiri Beach taverna (choose your own fish) or over to Apolakkia via the very quiet mountain road and busts Kastro Monolithos. The is a great restaurant serving fantastic goat stew at Profyllia up in the mountains, which is served by one of the best roads on the island.
So, lots to do and see here, or as we did for most of the time, just chill out in a great place to be.
Villa Alexander is exactly as described on the web site only even nicer in reality. Inside it is uncluttered, spacious and bright. The air con is efficient and the Wifi works very well even out on the terrace. The kitchen is well equipped and the french doors onto the terrace make it easy transfer food etc to eat outside.
Outside, the terrace gets the sun from early morning until evening, the table with the canvas awning is perfect for having lunch and shade in the day or having a bar b que in the evening (bar b que is very efficient) The pool is not large or deep but is ideal for cooling off and well maintained. The house is slightly offset from The neigbouring house so you don't feel overlooked too much and the area is very quiet and peaceful.
The village is a very easy five minute walk and the supermarket which has everything you might need and is open seven days a week for amazingly long hours. There are two fruit/vegetable shops and the bakery, which is also open long hours and has fresh bread daily and if you like cakes, loads of sweet things. Try the Greek spinach and cheese 'pie' it's very good. There are several places to eat and cafes and a couple of bars in village all of which are good, but we liked the three beach tavernas the best. They are less then five minutes walk from the village and the setting right on the beach is lovely. They serve great fresh fish and are very friendly.
The beach is pebbley but the very quiet and the sea is warm, crystal clear and great for swimming. There are other sandy beaches close by and Alan who looks after the house is a mine of information about where else to go and how to get there.
Gennadi still retains the feeling of being a 'Greek' village it's not at all touristy, which cannot be said for the strip further up the cost towards Rhodes town, which appears very built up and rather characterless. However Rhodes Town and Lindos are not far by car and we drove round the interior and up into the hills, which again is much more typically Greek and well worth doing.
The owners are very efficient responding to quesions almost immediately and booking was easy and trouble free. All in all this is a lovely house in a lovely area, especially if you want to relax and are not looking for a wild night life. We would highly recommend booking a stay.
Special interest holidays:
Approximately 17km from Prasonissi, a paradise for water sports including kite surfing and windsurfing. Scuba diving trips can be arranged from Rhodes town. Excellent location for walking holidays. Other activities available nearby are horse riding, quad biking, go karting and off road 4 wheel driving.
Due to the close proximity to Lindos and St Paul's Bay Gennadi is an ideal location for wedding parties, honeymoons and wedding blessings.
A 10 minute walk (0.7km) to the blue flag Gennadi Beach. The beach is a mix of sand and shingle.
Rhodes airport is approximately a 60 minute drive (65km). Car hire is recommended and widely available, however the village is served by a regular bus service which will take you where you need to go at very low fares. Taxis are also good value and can take you to and from the airport.
Lindos with its impressive Acropolis is less than a 25 minute drive, Lardos a 10 minute drive, Pefkos 15 minutes drive and Rhodes Town approximately 60 minute drive (63km).
Local shops, restaurants, bars, supermarket and ATM within walking distance. Various activities are available in the area, for example, hiking, horse-riding, cycling, off-road 4x4 adventures, water sports, fishing and boat trips.
