We are Mandy and Jon and we live in Wimbledon with our two daughters Alice & Emily. Mandy is an event manager and Jon manages quality for a digital technology company. We first fell in love with Istria in 2005 and our first property came shortly afterwards. We now have 3 beautifully restored properties in amazing locations. We have always taken our holidays in privately rented villas or houses and have often been disappointed with the quality and style of accommodation that is provided. We set out on this venture in Istria with a vision to create ‘rustic but stylish’ accommodation to a quality level that allows us to enjoy our valuable holiday time at anyone of our properties. We believe we have succeeded and 9 years of amazing feedback from OD guests also supports this.
Mandy purchased this Villa in 2007
Why Mandy chose Buje
Lozari is a proper Istrian hamlet surrounded by Olive Groves and Vineyards. Local life is farming and the village is quiet and peaceful with really never much happening. You are minutes away from all of the best stuff Istria has to offer - 20 mins to the coast, Grosnjan is 5 mins away and this is a little gem ... much better than the more famous hilltop village of Motovun (itself only 15 mins). Buje, Umag, Novigrad, Porec are all within easy reach. The waterpark 'Istralandia' is a great new addition to the area and again this is just 15 mins away. Sunset from the top of the hill (with a picnic in the vineyard) is really something special. So special that we decided to get married at Casita Lozari, our profile picture is from our wedding day next to the old courtyard wall.
What makes this Villa unique
The property itself is awesome, an old stone barn from the outside with stylish and very comfortable accommodation inside - Our attention to style and detail is something that sets us apart from other owners. It's really hard to find stylish furniture in Croatia, but we think it is worth the effort! King sized beds, comfortable mattresses. 2 proper showers (not these dribbly things you get in some places) and a nice big bath. Free and unlimited WiFi means you can stay connected to the outside world (if you so wish). The upper terrace next to the gorgeous private swimming pool is enormous giving you, family and friends plenty of space to bask in the sun. A lower walled terrace with access from the bedrooms provides some privacy if you want to get away from the pool area.

A beautiful villa in a tranquil position.
What more can I say...
A beautiful villa in a tranquil position. After the short drive down a country lane, past gorgeous olive groves and vineyards, we came to the sleepy hamlet of Lozari. As we opened the outer gate to the villa, we were met by the gleaming pool and the sun terrace. As we entered the villa, we were struck by its size and layout. It was very clean and well maintained. Everything was ready and prepared for our arrival
What more can I say..
We so loved sitting in the shaded area, sometimes for breakfast, a cup of afternoon tea, pre-dinner drinks or a late night game of cards. It was great to soak up the sun on the extensive patio and then to cool off in the pool with Ulyana the Unicorn! We also enjoyed a wander through the nearby olive groves to sample the amazing views and the stunning scenery. We bought some locally-made extra virgin olive oil from one of the neighbours – the best in Istria!
What more can I say..
Istria is beautiful and largely undeveloped. Trips to beaches at Strunac, Zambratija and Lovrecica were most enjoyable. We had a great day at Rovinj, with its narrow streets and bars, cafes and shops. A swim off the rocks was most refreshing. We would highly recommend a trip over the Slovenian border to the town of Piran. It really is stunning – with its quaint harbour, italian architecture and crystal clear waters. We did a short self-guided tour before we feasted on a yummy lunch at Fritolin pri Cantini (No 1 on Trip Advisor)
What more can I say..
The food in Istria is fresh, local, uncomplicated and very, very tasty. We bought most of our food in Buje and found everything we needed – the local butcher was so helpful and accommodating. Our favourite restaurant was Agroturizam Selo Mekiši near Vižinade , closely followed by Stari Podrum in Momjan. However, our best value meal was at the Pizzeria Konoba San Leanardo in Buje – gorgeous pizzas, first rate service and amazing location. The local white wine was very drinkable......................

Great House, Great Holiday
We love this beautiful House! This was the second time we stay here for our holidays. The House and the beautiful Garden is very clean. Beautiful furnishing. The surrounding and the nature is also beautiful. We have a great time here, and we say THANK YOU!
Peaceful & relaxing!
Spent 14 days at the villa and it was as described, probably bigger than we expected, situated on a road with grape vines and olive groves. The house/barn was spacious and well maintained, bedrooms downstairs had air conditioning, which was a welcome addition during the hot nights, and bathroom was a good size with bath and large shower. The upstairs was open plan with settees and dinning table, well equipped kitchen area, shower room and tv with hard drive containing a good variety of films. There was also a supply of games and some books, we had with us our 15 month granddaughter and Mandy kindly arranged for us to have a loan of their travel cot, books, toys, and other items, very much needed!
The outside is as you see in the pictures, various areas to suit moods and age, the pool, of course being the favourite, it was a good size and the terrace large, with sun most of the day and comfortable loungers. BBQ area was situated near the pool, but tucked away so as to allow no interference with serious sun worshippers!
We travelled to a few places, one being Groznjan, the town on top of the hill which you see before getting to Lozari, beautiful old town with a couple of good restaurants and fantastic views, worth the visit. But, we found it hard to drag ourselves away from the tranquility and comfort of the villa!!
We would highly recommend Villa Lozari, it lived up to its expectations, and more, I would have no hesitation in returning - but I might need someone to drag me off the sun beds! Mandy left a very comprehensive folder of information, which was useful, and she was also very helpful during the booking with any queries I may have had.
Overall, a thoroughly lovely place, immaculate, comfortable, well situated and a joy to stay in.
Thank you Mandy & family.
A amazing house, very well thought out and pr
Just back from our holiday here and what a amazing place, the villa was beautiful with everything needed to have a long comfy stay. The rooms being downstairs is a great touch keeping the rooms cool on the lovely hot sunny days. It was a daily battle to get the kids out of the pool just to eat! They absolutely loved it, we all did. I would recommend this place over anywhere else I've stayed as the villa and Croatia and it's islands are second to none. Many thanks to Mandy the owner to, she is very helpful and pleasant to deal with. We will be back soon. James and Karen.
