200 year old barn conversion recently refurbished to the highest standard, (4* graded). Spacious and exceptionally comfortable accommodation featuring flagstone and pitch pine floors, exposed stone walls, vaulted ceilings with original beams, wood burning stove, huge leather, corner bed settee, (seating 6+), and quality furnishings throughout. Situated in the heart of the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan, (yet only 20 minutes drive from the centre of Cardiff and 10 minutes from the historic market town of Cowbridge), the property is surrounded on all sides by unspoilt countryside. The kitchen/diner and lounge benefit from uninterrupted views for many miles, down the Llancarfan valley and across the Bristol Channel towards Somerset. Excellent walking and riding country and an ideal base from which to explore South and West Wales, The Gower, Brecon, Wye Valley and beyond. The cottage can comfortably sleep 6 persons, (ideally 4 adults plus 2 children), however the substantial bed settee in the lounge offers the possibility to increase sleeping capacity by a further 2 persons if required. The cottage is situated at the edge of Llancarfan, one of the prettiest villages within the Vale with its historic church, (famous for it's recently discovered medieval wall paintings), pretty stream and ford, and its award winning pub; The Fox and Hounds.

We enjoyed the stay in the cottage very much. Very pretty, we even did not use the television the whole week, because we enjoyed the quietness, exquisiteness of the cottage and the nature so much.
If we are coming back to the Cardiff area, we will stay here again.
Lovely place, great views, peaceful yet close to amenities.
Loved the cottage. Brilliant kitchen - great place for family gatherings. Appreciated the Twinings. Washing/ drying facilities excellent. Comfortable, quirky and tasteful.
Perfect Christmas Cottage
We stayed here for Christmas & we are so glad we picked this cottage it was perfect. It’s lovely & spacious, everything is set out beautifully, huge kitchen & diner then into living room again spacious with comfy sofas and a chair. We arrived late in the evening to find a beautiful real Christmas tree all decorated, wasn’t expecting that such a lovely thought and very much appreciated, also a welcome pack of bread, milk, biscuits, mince pies & bottle of Prosecco, delicious We had a wonderful warm, cosy Christmas in the cottage it was perfect for us a real get away for us and our 2 dogs. Jon, Sian and their family were so helpful if you needed them they told us of some good walks for the dogs and beaches to visit. The information pack in the cottage also gives you this and where the shops are etc. Porthkerry Country Park was a favourite of ours for walking as it was sheltered and quiet, also Limpet Bay near the power station was good, the beach is big pebbles but you can walk behind the beach on the grass. We will definitely be coming back, such a wonderful cottage, thanks so much for making our Christmas so wonderful.
Beautiful cottage, welcoming hosts, lovely and warm and cosy for the ever surprising Welsh weather!
The cottage is delightful, spotless, and really handy for beautiful countryside, coastal walks and Cardiff.
Llanvithyn Cottage is the perfect place to stay in the Welsh countryside near Cardiff.
We spent two weeks at the cottage, first with our son and his family, and then with friends. It is a perfect place for all generations to enjoy. Our hosts, Jon, Sian and their family all made us feel very welcome and supplied plenty of local interest literature to keep us busy for weeks.
We visited beautiful beaches, historic sites, lovely old castles and gardens, and wonderful pubs and restaurants, all within an hours drive. We could have stayed at least another week to enjoy everything.
The cottage has all modern conveniences, yet keeps its feeling of a traditional country house. The view is expansive, so it would be easy to just sit and enjoy the ambiance, with or without a good book.
We would certainly wish to stay at Llanvithyn Cottage again if the opportunity arose.
A little slice of paradise
What can we say that hasn't already been said?
This is such a beautiful cottage in a beautiful setting and we had a really lovely time. Our kids really enjoyed exploring the area around the cottage and were hardly interested in their technology!
The local area has so much too offer from the amazing coastal walks, the pubs and the great shopping that Cowbridge has to offer where you can buy some amazing local produce.
We will definitely be booking again and can't wait to come back.
