Gite in Vix, Marais Poitevin, South Vendee - Calm And Relaxed Location In The Heart Of The Marais Poitevin

Our gite as two bedrooms plus a sofa that can be used as a third bed. In the gite you'll have a kitchen with fridge, oven, gaz burner, microwave and a washing machine. There is a shower and toilet in the gite. There is a barbecue area with private terrace. In the property there is a pond that you can use for fishing, a small forest where you can enjoy picnic and walk. There is a pool 5m by 10m with sun bed.

About The Owner

We are Christine and Claude Faivre. I'm 57years old and my husband is 62. We have been married for 40 years. We have two sons who are grown up and are making their own way in the world. We are grandparents , our granddaughter is 3 years old and her name is Margaux .My husband is a plumber, he is retired now. I was a seamstress and maked clothes for Hermès, St Laurent, Dior, Balenciaga, etc.I was laid off December 16th ,2014. We bought our house in 1982.It's a typical stone house in the" Marais Poitevin". It has been built in 1840 . It was an old farm and we have restored it. We opened the gite in 2007. We want to introduce our beautiful region to visitors who come to show how we live in the countryside.

Why The Owner chose Vendee

We bought our house in Vix, because we were both born in this area.We have given it the name ‘Le Bas des Vignes’ which means ‘Below the vines’. Our house can be found at the base of a vine covered slope. The ‘Marais Poitevin’ is very beautiful with special trees, called " Frenes" and countless Poplars and is famous for its many canals. The Marais Poitevin is also known as "La Venise Verte", the Green Venice. We are near rivers for fishing,beautiful Atlantic beaches,the enchanting Mervent forest,historic La Rochelle, Ile de Re, Puy du Fou, etc. In our local village you will find a butcher, baker, post office, banks, chemist,2 general stores. A quarter of an hour away in Fontenay le Comte the nearest town, you will find many services. Motorway's exit is a quarter of an hour from our house.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Our house is in a private and secluded spot. No noise, only the breeze in the poplars! Our house nestles in 3 hectares of land, so, we have many animals Quad the horse, Kalou the donkey, , sheep, ducks, geese, hens and Scratch our lovely dog. In Le Bas des Vignes, you will find space, peace and quiet. The swimming pool ( heating )waits for you to relax, the pond offers fishing and there are bicycles available to explore the local area. Quad, the horse, with his cart will take you for a ride too! On a private lake nearby, you can take out a small rowing boat with Claude. Claude and I will be happy to invite you into our home for a welcome drink. Here you will be able to taste specialties of our Marais Poitevin. Welcome to 'Le Bas des Vignes'.

Outside: We are located on a 3 acres of land (two acres of forest). There is a pond, swimming pool, barbecue and private terrace. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Everything is change before use of every renter. We do not include any towels. Other: A terrace with outside table and chairs. A private barbecue on the terrace is free to use.

Refundable damage deposit $272.37
Stay tax $0.49 per night, per person. This amount will be due to the owner upon arrival. Does not apply to children under 18 years.

Booking Notes:
We ask a quarter of the payment up front for the reservation and another 250€ in case of damages of the location that we give back when you go. The rest of the payment can be done when you arrive.

Changeover Day:
Arriving Saturday 14h30 and you leave the next Saturday at 11h30.
