Hello, we are a family of five with a daughter and two teenage sons (twins)
We have had the villa since July 2007 and tried to enhance the property as best we can so you can enjoy yourselves as much as possible. We have added home comforts so you find it home from home.
We enjoy just relaxing around the pool, which is a salt water pool we had this fitted because salt water is much kinder to your skin rather than chlorine also it leaves no smell.we also enjoy jet ski-ing and surfing at Baleal beach where they have held the world surfing championships for the last couple of years.
Eating out is our favorite past time as the restaurants in this area are tremendous, in seven years we have not had one bad meal and the wine and beer are so cheap its rude not to indulge.Running along the lagoon path is a must to enjoy the natural surroundings, as a family we use our bikes around the lagoon. Go and enjoy we have for several years, and will continue to do so. Graham & Lyn
Graham & Lynn Harley purchased this villa in 2007
We purchased this villa as the area reminded us of Cornwall in England with coves and soft sandy beaches.
The added bonus was the pine and eucalyptus trees all around and the largest lagoon and wildlife area in Europe. The villa just made our mouths drop as the previous owners had fully furnished the property with quality beds and furniture and simple clean decoration to a high standard.
We also saw the potential to enhance our holiday enjoyment so we added a heated salt water pool, got bikes for all of us and added internet and X box for the kids as you do (now we are left alone to enjoy the sunshine).
The area pulled us in as it is still unspoilt and very community based with the locals still working the land by hand and fisherman living around the lagoon in huts selling to local cafes
All inclusive cost`s including free internet, use of X box 360 and games, Salt water pool (can be heated for small additional cost), Totally un overlooked and secluded enclosed rear Garden, ability to leave your car unlocked as safe area, Relaxing atmosphere as no noise pollution only bird song and waves.
Excellent nights sleep due to luxury beds, black out blinds, no noise or light pollution in area.
We can naturally keep fit as cycle/running/walking path goes around the lagoon and surfing is free (if you have to hire a surf board its only 10-15 euros a day including wet suit).
Locals are friendly, wine is cheap, food is cooked fresh and cost effective, coffee is to die for at £1 a cup.
Parking is free, no speed cameras, no traffic wardens, its like going back 40 years in time.
If you like cornwall you will love it here
Mr & Mrs L Taylor from Lincolnshire discribed the Villa as a peacful relaxing retreat within beutiful suroundings of the pine forest, and the sightseeing in and around where breathtaking.
Soa Martinho bay a 20 minute drive north was a worthwhile visit to see the cliff overlooking the sandy bay, and the shops and restaurants were all great.
Graham and Lynn were brilliant at answering all our queries prior to our visit. The directions from the airport were spot on and we arrived to a clean, comfortable and well-equipped villa.
2 hair dryers, a kettle, a toaster, a cheese grater, decent bone china mugs and proper pillows made it feel like home from home. There were only 4 wine glasses (we were 5 adults), but now I'm being extremely picky. There are more than enough pans, Tupperware boxes, glass tumblers and other crockery, a large fridge and a chest freezer.
This quiet and unspoilt area is Portugal's best-kept secret and we will definitely go back. The lagoon exceeded all my expectations - its huge, flat, clean, safe and almost empty beaches are perfect for young families. The tide alters it daily which makes every visit different. Small and larger pools form and are warm for children to swim and play in. If you want to see the huge Atlantic waves, walk out to the mouth of the lagoon for must-see views.
There are shells aplenty and many fish to see. Most days are breezy so a wind-break is a must but the villa has one, plus parasols, a cool box plus ice packs, 3 beach chairs and some buckets and spades.
The 'Pingo Doce' supermarket is 15 km away so it's best to be organised and do a huge shop when you go, as you won't want to do this round trip daily. We also tried the Lidl in Peniche (which isn't cheaper as you would expect) and the Intermarché in Peniche (which is more expensive and ran out of bread and milk when we turned up at 4pm on one occasion). There is a man who drives around the estate selling bread each morning between 10-10.30am. Listen for his distinctive horn and as well as bread he sells the delicious Portuguese custard tarts (pastel de nata). I'm not a huge custard fan but I love these and the pastry is to die for.
Make sure you visit Obidos and taste the cherry liqueur in a chocolate cup (they do a children's non-alcoholic version too) and walk along the city walls. Nightlife is dead here but inside the city walls it is so beautiful and well-preserved.
We ventured across the other side of the lagoon one day to Foz do Arelho, where it was breezier and busier, but nonetheless still worth going. We had a delicious seafood lunch (plus children's menu) in a beach-front restaurant for very reasonable money.
Thank you Graham and Lynn for a great villa and thank you Silver Coast for a fantastic holiday.
We are a family with 3 active boys aged 7,12 and 17. The villa itself was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The pool was a huge hit, deep enough at the deeper end to do lots of jumping in! The safety fence around it also provided peace of mind. The wifi was also a success when you have teenagers that want to spend a day at home. The use of the bikes and the belly boards was a real bonus as it would have cost quite a bit to hire. Having basic household products already in the house was great as usually we have to go out and buy all that kind of stuff. The location of the villa is quiet and as there was no one in the adjoining property we didn't need to worry about all the shrieking and laughter in the pool. The local supermarket recommended by the owners was easy to find and met all our needs (especially the cheap beer and wine ). Local beaches are breathtakingly beautiful and the lagoon beaches meet the needs of everyone. We used economy car hire and could not fault them. Overall a very enjoyable holiday.
My youngest child has just said " write that the youngest child says it was the best villa in the whole world and he wants to live there "
From the moment we enquired to arriving home communication from Graham and Lyn has been great. Villa did not disappoint us, it was fabulous, it was well equipped, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Heated pool was fantastic and was used every day. It was a bonus having the beach a 5 minute drive away. Having the villa cleaned and beds changed during our stay was an added bonus, the maids were very polite as was the gardener and pool man. Bikes came in very useful for dad taking the kids out to explore the area and leaving mum to relax by the pool. Lagoon area is stunning and quite quiet with a lovely wee restaurant (Edgars) that was reasonable and very good. Surrounding area was quiet but had lots of character especially Obidos and yes we did partake in trying the cherry liqueur and chocolate cups which were delicious. Having a good wifi service came in very useful especially having a 12 year old and a 10 year old. Looking forward to booking up for next year........
Our first trip to the Silver Coast with our children aged 12,10 and 8 and we had a fabulous time.Communication and booking with the owners was really easy and they provided comprehensive, user friendly directions and instructions and also ensured the shopping "essentials" we're waiting for us on our arrival. The villa was spacious, clean and very well equipped in a quiet but easily accessible location, with a brilliant heated pool which we all loved. We enjoyed walks down to the lagoon and to the gorgeous sandy beach and also enjoyed trips by car to nearby Sao Martinho,Foz,Obidos and Caldas which were all well worth a visit. We found the Bica Da Lagoa bar and restaurant at the beach very welcoming, with Superbok for a Euro,a stunning view and delicious take away pizzas ,especially good if eaten on the beach.Having only visited the Algarve before,we weren't sure what to expect from a holiday in this part of Portugal but were really taken with the area, the lovely villa, the quiet roads and the friendly people and can not wait to head back for another visit.
We had a very quiet and relaxing holiday. The villa is well equipped and very comfortable. We made use of the mountain bikes to cycle around the beautiful lagoon, and body boarded at nearby Baleal. The villa pool and Xbox were a big hit with the kids. We ate at some lovely restaurants although a car is pretty much essential; Cozinha D'el Rei and O Tavola were our favourites. Would recommend this villa for a great family holiday.
We arrived at Pine Villas, very tired after a delayed flight and with no shops or petrol stations open to get some supplies in so it was a god send to get through the door and find all the perfect essentials waiting for us in the fridge courtesy of the villa owner Graham. The villa is absolutely stunning, so much bigger than we expected with a lovely pool and bbq which we made very good use of!! There is everything you could possibly need in the villa, from cooking utensils, cleaning products to bikes, fishing equipment, games and pool toys! We made the most of the bikes and explored the huge lagoon that is on the doorstep of the villa and found a lovely bar/restaurant on the lagoon that we visited nearly every day and was very cheap too!! Everything to go and see around the area is a short drive away and with such beautiful surroundings this just was never a problem, there's somewhere to go in every direction, from shopping centres to the beautiful beaches where all the surfers are, to historic areas (obidos castle, and all the shops inside the castle walls). The locals are very friendly and spoke good English too. Food wise, the fish they catch locally is amazing and you have all the local fish and meat markets around if you want to get some great food to put on the bbq. We actually had rain the whole time we were there and this actually didn't make any difference to our stay, bearing in mind it is October and we didn't expect much sun anyway! The area is just so peaceful that we could totally relax at the villa which is exactly what we wanted from this holiday. I would happily recommend this villa to anyone, couples and families (you can get a lot of people in this place!) and we fully intend on going back with all the family. One last thing is take advantage of the hire car firm the owner Graham recommends, they were brilliant and we had a really nice car too so very pleased we were recommended to use them! So all in all a great stay, great communication from the owners and an all round stunning place! We are very happy holiday makers!!
