Stunning but a little neglected

  • 4 of 5

This cottage is comfortable and in a stunning location with dramatic views across the sea towards the Mull of Kintyre, and well equipped with 2 fridge/freezers, a washing machine and a tumble dryer. We were given a really warm welcome by the host John. The wifi was reliable and strong and the TV had Sky. However it’s fair to say that it’s in need of a little TLC: some of the windows (including one of the big French windows) have blown double glazing meaning that they are permanently misted up, the carpet is stained with water marks, a few kitchen floor tiles are broken, and most seriously the mirror opposite the gate to allow a driver to see traffic coming was also damaged and so unusable. These are all relatively minor issues (although the latter would be a problem if you were there alone with nobody to see you out) and we would consider staying there again if we were in the area.

Beautiful cottage in great location

  • 5 of 5

John the host met us at the cottage and could not have been more helpful, everything was ready for us when we arrived. The cottage is very attractively furnished and you couldn't be closer to the sea! It was very relaxing lying in bed listening to the waves.

The cottage is a 2 or 3 min drive to Waterfoot where there is a food shop for supplies, slightly further away is Cushendall (approx 10 min drive) which is a pretty little village with good shops, restaurants and a tourist information centre. The cottage is ideally located for exploring the area, whether going north or south on the spectacular coastal road or travelling inland to the Glens of Antrim.

Thoroughly recommend a stay here!

Wonderful 3 night stay

  • 5 of 5

What's not to like. I know the coast so well and have stayed many times in different cottages, this is by far the best cottage, quirky extremely comfortable and fantastic location.john our host gave us a very warm welcome, gale blowing but fire roaring up the chimney. Beds comfy loads of hot water, spent our evenings after dinner sitting by the fire listening to the waves and having great craic. Water foot beach is a short drive away and lovely to walk. All in all a most memorable stay. We hope to return later in the year. Jenny ryan

Perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

My mother and I stayed in the cottage which was exactly like it is pictured online. The views were stunning in all directions and it was an easy drive to anywhere we wanted to go. I don't recommend the cottage for solo travelers as the driveway is a bit tricky and it took two of us to navigate the car as there's no line of sight. Tracy and John were very easy to work with and had answers to all of our questions.

The beds were extremely comfortable with firm mattresses and soft bedding. We could hear the waves as they crashed on the rocks below. I recommend dinner in Cushendall at Upstairs at Joe's. The food and service were great. Overall, it was a perfect Irish vacation and I would definitely go back again and again.

Fantastic location, gorgeous cottage

  • 5 of 5

A fantastic location, right on the coast with amazing views (and dolphins spotted swimming in the bay!!) - ideal for getting away from it all. The cottage is exactly how it is described on the website, remote (you do need a car) but within easy reach of Belfast in one direction and Giants Causeway in the other, as it sits on the causeway coastal route. We took two teenagers and a puppy and don't know who had the best time - the beaches were great for the dog & the kids enjoyed the Sky Sports when we got back!! The cottage was very clean, cosy, yet big enough for us all and furnished tastefully - wish we could have stayed longer. John was the perfect host, there to greet us and always on hand if needed. Tracey organised the rental very efficiently too - no complaints on any aspect. Would highly recommend this property!!

A bit to close to the waters edge

  • 1 of 5

We booked to stay at this cottage in Jan 2015. We are a couple with two dogs. Whilst we were met with a warm welcome and roaring fire the location of the property was not ideal. There is unsafe access in and out due to high speed traffic. A car is essential as there are no shops within walking distance. The house is so close to the waters edge we couldnt let our dogs out for fear of them being blown over as the extreme winds blowing down the Glen were continuous.. We decided for safety reasons to vacate the house one week early.
