Once one of the service buildings of the farmer's compound of the castle, this nicely restored cottage is extremely charming villa made by 3 double rooms, suitable for a family or for a group of friends.
The 3 bedrooms have large windows giving from the inside a full view of the garden and the swimming pool.
Located in Southern Tuscany only 10 mins away from the beach of Lake Bolsena and 45 mins from the sea, 1 hour 30 mins from Rome, halfway between Orvieto and Siena, closely bordering with the regions of Umbria and Lazio, the jaw-droppingly splendid 17th century castle, Castello Santa Cristina (complete with fairy tale turret) has been the property of the noble Caterini family for generations and still is. Over the recent past, the castle’s nearby 18th Century ivy-covered farmhouse and outbuildings have been sympathetically restored to retain their authenticity and styled into 8 cottages for guests, mostly furnished with original pieces. A large terrace overlooks the main pool where catering service is available on previous request. Perfect location for relaxing, sports and cultural sightseeing. Many activities on the spot such as cookery courses, horse riding centre with English speaking instructor, tennis court. Ideal place for horse riding excursions. A golf course near by.
Hello my name is Antonio Mancini Caterini, S.Cristina castle and the estate belong to my family since 1700. The Caterini family came to this area around 1200 and they moved to the castle several centuries after. Only few know that this is one of the less inhabited areas of Italy, so we benefit of enchanting countryside only 1hr and 30min from Rome and 1 hr and 15 min from Siena. From our place you can explore mountains, lakes and the sea. My wife is half English and we have 2 sons (9 and 18) and a daughter (21), we are all bilingual and happy to meet new guests at S.Cristina every year. I have a passion for sports, I used to be a triathlete and still like to bike around or swim long distance in the lake. But my real passion are horses that is why we have a riding center on the spot.
Hi Antonello, We had a fantastic holiday and found everything so relaxing. I would appreciate it if when you get back from Italy that you can contact me so that we can book 2 weeks for next year! Martin Bagley.
Just a short note to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Santa Christina. A beautiful location, excellent facilities and very comfortable accommodation. The pool was a real plus point especially as we were blessed with such good weather. We had a wonderful time during our stay in Italy.
Hello, I would like to thank you for your help and assistance. I would also be grateful if you would pass on our thanks to Antonello, Christina and Paola Steve Robins.
Dear Antonello We had a fantastic time at Santa Christina last year and would really love to return in August 2008. We are trying to sort out our annual leave, provisionally we would be interested in 2 weeks beginning 10 August. Could you advise on availability? Very best regards and Happy New Year.

I've never booked a holiday with Owners Direct before and I was a little nervous. What you see online isn't what you always get. Well I have to say you get more than whats shown online. The people who own this property(Christina and Antinello) and their staff cannot do enough to make your stay wonderful. Its true when people say the Italians love families they were very attentive to ALL of our needs. They also all spoke perfect English, as I don't speak a word of Italian this was important. The accommodation isn't what I'd call luxury, but I didn't want luxury. I wanted a place that was comfortable for a 2 week stay and a place where I could cook. This apartment ticked both box's. We didn't take up the horse riding option (truth be told I didn't really notice how much a part of the estate the riding was ... A little slow of me I admit) as I'd spent most of my money getting there. However I am horesy and would say if you are looking for a riding holiday this would be a great place to do it. The instructors were excellent and you could do lessons or trekking, children were not restricted to being lead only. However, don't let the horse side of things put you off as it makes no difference to your holiday one way or the other. The estate has a "restaurant" that is for family and guests only so you must book in advance if you want to partake. The owners also have a welcome drinks night when they will give you a tour of the castle which is beautiful. They also organised a trip by horse (it takes all day by horse wish I could have gone) or car to Lake Mezzano which was WONDERFUL. Its on offer to all the guest. I'm not really into socializing with the other guest but this was so relaxed and magical I'm super glad I didn't let my shyness put me off. We drove to the lake, which is in the middle of nowhere, had a lovely swim in warm lake, then a super lunch at the restaurant ... but not really a restaurant more like a farm house with a lovely terrace and a great cook who served big bowls of pasta, salad and tiramisu. Menu is set. The owners (Christina and Antinello) and their children join you on the trip to ensure you have a great time. Christina and Antinello are wonderful hosts. You must have a car to stay here and don't expect to have much Wifi you can get it at reception but thats it - I wanted to be cut off so this suited me perfectly. If touring and sight seeing is your thing then this place is in a pretty good central location. I highly reccommend here
