Our family of 5 (ranging from age 9 to 69) spent a fantastic couple of weeks at the beautiful Villa Maresca. Everything was as described and better!
Lots of lazy days were spent by the pool, which is an excellent asset to this Villa, with the covered outdoor area providing some welcome shelter from the summer heat.
The Villa is in an excellent location for exploring the surrounding area and local beaches, but a car is essential.
Communication with the owner was prompt and the agents in San Vito were very helpful.
We would certainly recommend Villa Maresca....just looking at the photographs on this site makes me smile and want to go back!!!!
This was our first visit to Puglia and having been numerous times to Tuscany, Umbria and Sicily, we knew we wanted to be in a location that was close to the beach but also with good access to some of the towns we wanted to see in the evenings.
Villa Maresca certainly fulfilled on this score, and despite wanting lazy days in the sun by the pool, we did get to see some gorgeous towns and had some great meals out - some recommended in John and Caroline's info pack!
The Villa itself is compact, but perfectly laid out for a summer stay where most of the time you are outside, yet easily caters for 6 (we were 4 for the first few days and then 5). It is very well supplied with cooking utensils and crockery and cutlery including those all important plastic glasses for drinks by the pool.
Set down a quiet lane off the main road, it was very secluded, with one neighbouring house that was empty until the last 2 days, so we really did feel as though we were away from the rat race.
But the best thing about the Villa is that the beds are really comfortable! All too often we have found that the beds in rental villas are of low quality and we come home having not slept well. But at Villa Maresca, we slept like logs!
If we have one criticism, it is that the Villa did not have wifi. It did have 4G coverage in parts of the veranda, and it may be that broadband is not available there, given its relative remoteness from the main road.
However, all in all we had a great time and would definitely go back there!
We had a wonderful time, the villa had everything that we needed, the pool was fantastic.
Local shops and restaurants were only 5 minutes away.
Plenty of places to go to for both adults and children.
Would certainly return, the photos do not do it justice.
This is a great villa for a young family. It is spacious, clean, well-equipped nicely furnished and very accessible. The pool and outside areas are particularly special and we had days on end splashing around and resting in the large covered outside area. The villa is really well located for trips to the beach, the nearby safari zoo and the towns and cities of the region. We would definitely recommend it.
This place is fabulous - surrounded by olive groves and fig trees. It is a peaceful and quiet location and is a well maintained and clean villa with a good size pool. It is within easy access of some beautiful places to visit and close to the beach if you want a change from the pool. Facilities in the area are good including restaurants and there is lots to do for children and adults alike. We had a great holiday and the weather was perfect. Would thoroughly recommend it as a holiday home and region to visit. Vic, Neil & Family.
We had a wonderful 2 weeks in this beautiful Villa. The pool was perfect for us and 2 children <7 so clean and with wonderful views to the fruit trees. You need a car as you cannot walk to restaurants or shops but the two towns are a 5 min drive away and have everything you need. We would definitely go back again !
Villa Maresca is located within a short drive of many local beaches. Some ‘Lido’ include bars, restaurants and facilities, others are quiet coves with warm clear sea and fine sandy beaches. The nearest, Torre Guacetto is a 10 minute drive away.
The nearest airports are Brindisi which is a 15 min drive away and Bari which is a 60 min drive. Ryan Air fly direct from Stansted to each airport on alternate days. Flights are also available with British Airways and Alitalia. Options to fly to Pescara, Naples or Rome are also available. Car hire is essential. Local directions will be given with booking and our local agent will provide a meet and greet facility including escorting guests to the villa.
San Vito Dei Normanni is a 5 min drive away, Carovigno is a 10 min drive. Both with shops, supermarkets, banks and very good restaurants and pretty piazzas.
The historic town of Ostuni (the white city) is 15 mins away from the villa and is great for evening shopping. Alberobello a 40 min drive and is known for it's famous trulli.
Lecce is approx 50 mins drive away and is known as the Florence of the South with it's baroque architecture.
All the local towns have open markets on most days and are ideal for buying fresh local produce. There are also plenty of local supermarkets and banks with ATM machines. The Puglia area is well known for it's food and wine and has many excellent restaurants in each of it's towns including a Michelin star restaurant in Carovigno. With the Adriatic Sea to the East and the Ionian Sea to the South the air is not too oppressive during the hot summer months. The average temperatures during the summer are around 30 to 35 degrees.
The region of Puglia has long been a favoured holiday destination to the Italians, known for its natural beauty of vast olive groves and vineyards with white towns, ancient castles and baroque churches. Not forgetting the trulli (strange conical dwellings) which are unique to Puglia. This is a wonderful part of Italy and is still unspoilt with friendly and helpful people. Once you have visited this region you are sure to return.
