|Minimum Stay||3 - 7 nights|
Located on the edge of the small alpine town of bovec at the head of the soca valley. Recently re-furbished to a high standard. Chalet bovec is very roomy and comfortable, with a large open-plan family room which is a sitting room, dining area & kitchen all in one with a lovely relaxed, spacious feel to it. Beautiful views of the Julian Alps and very convenient for shops, bars, restaurants etc. Many activities are available in and around the town. KAYAK, HIKE, BIKE, Brand new 2km ZIP-LINE and the good news is that Kanin ski-lift will be re-opening for the 2016/17 season providing the highest SKIING in Slovenia with 3 other ski resorts just 30 mins drive away
I am a professional man from the West country. I discovered Slovenia whilst on a motor bike trip in 2005.
I was particularly enchanted with the Soca valley and especially the delightful little town of Bovec. After one or two holidays there I ended up buying a property. With the help of local tradesmen and contacts the house was extensively renovated over the next year and I have subsequently rented it to many guests from a variety of countries, for both Summer and Winter holidays, including members of the film crew working on the recent "Narnia" film, some of the scenes of which were filmed nearby. Judging from comments in the visitors book, pretty well everyone shares my enthusiasm for this beautiful area and have found the house to be a welcoming and pleasant place to stay.
Steve Woods purchased this house in 2005
'many thanks for letting us use your lovely home - the area is so beautiful I don't know how you can bear to leave it'
'we really enjoyed our stay in Bovec, it is perfect for touring the area and we would certainly like to go again'
Just back from Bovec and thought I'd email to say how nice the house was, Bovec stunning, the walking good and transfers went smoothly. All in all 10 out of 10, so thanks.KG May 2012
The house was very upscale, large, and was equipped with everything you might need. Unfortunately some small things were not maintained such as burnt out lights and remotes that did not work...but the positives of the house easily made up for that. Nice collection of books. Bovec was very walk-able (10 minutes from the house to the other end) which was great and allowed you to easily pick up groceries, bread, and enjoy the other shops whenever the urge hit. We enjoyed the rafting, canyoning, hiking, and zip-lining and still had lots of potential adventure activities for which we did not have time.
Chalet Bovec is a beautiful chalet set deep in the Soca Valley in Slovenia. The surrounding area is absolutely stunning, and home to many great activities like hiking, canyoning, zip-lining and skiing - we particularly loved the white-water rafting on the bright blue river that flows through the valley. The chalet itself is spacious and homely, with everything you could possibly need, including lots of books, games and guides to the area, and the locals are friendly and helpful. We had a fantastic time, and I can't recommend it more - we'll be back for the ski season!
We had a fantastic time in Bovec and having this beautiful, cosy house as our base made it all the more perfect! We had an action packed week, making the most of the summer activities by doing rafting, canyoning and ziplining! We also drove to Most Na Soci one day to get the car train to lake Bohinj and lake Bled which was a great day out. The town of Bovec really is a hidden gem and we will certainly be coming back in the winter season one year to check out the skiing. The house was brilliant, with everything we needed. The bath is especially nice for a long soak after getting freezing in the Soca! It is also a great location for nipping to the bakery (which seems to be open ALL the time) or the supermarket to stock up.
Many thanks for letting us stay, we'll be back!
The flat is perfect for a group or family with plenty of living and sleeping space and was very clean. The check in was very easy and we really enjoyed the flat. The location was perfect for walking into the main town of Bovec and to reach any of the outfitters. Steve was very responsive.
Special interest holidays:
Motor Cycling - Bovec is a fantastic centre for a motor bike holiday, having several mountain passes very nearby which provide exciting riding. Many other great places to visit give a good excuse for a ride-out - The Slovenian coast, Venice, Lake Bled and numerous other destinations for a great day out and then to return to a welcoming base at Chalet Bovec. I have done many trips here myself on two wheels and can thoroughly recommend it.
Bovec is in the North-West of Slovenia close to the borders for Italy and Austria but being only a small country the Adriatic coast is only 100 kilometres to the South - about 2 hours drive.
Bovec is approx 90 minutes from three airports - Ljubljana, Trieste and Klagenfurt - all serviced by low-cost airlines. Also under 3 hours from Venice and Graz airports. To make the most of the available activities car hire is recommended and is available from all airports, also from the nearby town of Kobarid. We can arrange for transfer to Bovec from any of these airports if required but this will incur a further payment.
There is fantastic hiking right on the doorstep being in the Triglav National Park with the stunning blue-green river Soca running through it, but there are also many places of interest to visit nearby. There is a museum dedicated to the 1st World War, in Kobarid 15 mins drive. The world famous Skocjan caves are less than 2 hours away. The town of Bled with its stunning lakeside location can be reached by a combination of road and interesting motorail in about 90 mins.
This is an area of outstanding natural beauty so very popular for walking holidays, not just in summer but spring and autumn is still very warm with wonderful unspoilt scenery to explore. Bovec also offers spectacular mountain biking and you can take bikes up the ski-lift which runs all year round and cycle back to the village by a variety of forest trails. Bikes can be rented locally and 2 bikes are provided with the house. There is first class fly-fishing in the crystal clear soca which has trout, grayling and the famous marbled trout which can grow up to 20kgs! There is some fly-fishing kit provided with the house & licences can be purchased locally. River sports include white-water rafting, kayaking and canyoning, all of which can be arranged in the town. Paragliding is also popular and available locally.The brand new Zip-line is a real adrenaline rush covering over 2 kms of stunning countryside. Horse riding is also available locally whilst less than 2 hours drive will take you to the world famous lipica stud and riding school with its dancing lipizzaner horses. Bovec has several good restaurants serving local food and wine. There are shops for all your general requirements. There is a bank, pharmacy, hairdressers and a garage. Also an indoor pool with sauna etc.
