An ideal place to base yourselves, whether you're seeking to relax in peaceful and beautiful surroundings or desire a fun-packed activity holiday, which could include exploring the vast and varied wild beauty of North West Sutherland's landscape; hill walking, sea and fresh water fishing, golf, ornithology, sailing, stalking, climbing or just lazing on secluded white sandy beaches.
Return to the warmth of this cosy cottage with every amenity.
Lovely cosy wee cottage. Very clean and furnished to a high standard. Situated very close to a shingle beach on one side and a little behind property is a lovely Loch you can walk to. Plenty of opportunities for nice walks, particularly nice one if you walk beyond the Cape Wrath Ferry port. Only slight downside to the property is that none of the windows look out to the view, had the weather been nice however, we would have enjoyed sitting at the picnic bench which faces onto the beach. Would definitely return to the area as scenery is breathtaking although perhaps to take full advantage of this would book the 'sister' cottage, Shore cottage which has better view out to the sea.
The holiday begins as you first catch sight of the holiday cottage location as you drive alongside the Kyle of Durness. Kyleview is the most delightful location with fabulous views, spotlessly clean with everything you need for a relaxing peaceful holiday and a great base for discovering the most northern westerly parts of Scotland. Ideally located for walkers, fishing, photography and nature lovers. Didn't want to leave and will most certainly return in the future!
This was the third year in a row that we stayed at Kyleview Cottage and that should tell you more than any review!
Kyleview is in a wonderful location, looking South along the length of the Kyle of Durness. The cottage is an unassuming bungalow from the outside but the inside has been modernised and brought up to date to a very high standard. A range cooker in the kitchen, two modern bathrooms (with showers only, if it matters) and three bedrooms with comfy beds and best quality cotton bedding. The best thing about staying at Kyleview is Roz, who looks after the two cottages. She's always there if you need something but never interfering if you're just looking for peace and quiet.
Kyleview Cottage is the ideal location for peace and getting away from it all, but still with a handful of other properties nearby. This also means that the local shop in Durness doesn't open on Sundays - plan ahead!
In conclusion, and to paraphrase a famous actor - we'll be back...
We had an excellent week at Durness and Kyleview Cottage, amazing area with fantastic beaches and countryside.
The cottage was great, so comfortable and clean, suited us all perfectly, the fittings and fixtures were top class and made the cottage feel top class.
We would recommend the place to anyone.
In front of the cottages is the Kyle of Durness which is tidal with wonderful sandy stretches at low tide. A mile takes you to the beautiful beaches at Balnakeil of which the sand dunes are an outstanding feature. Within a further two miles you will find other wonderful deserted beaches.
