Tripala farm is a countryside oasis, ideal for family holidays. You can relax by the swimming pool, sunbathe on the terrace or go mountain biking or walking in the spectacular Apuan Alps. The coast is only a short journey by car or train so you can explore the beautiful fishing villages of the Cinque Terre and swim in the azure waters. In the nearby medieval villages there are several pizzerias and restaurants serving tasty local cuisine and wines made from grapes ripened on the nearby hillsides. The owners, Carlo and Silvia, speak English and are always on hand to help if you need any advice
We are a family of four, with two girls aged 17 and 20. Silvia is a teacher in a local school, and I run the family farm. We grow organic olives and wheat. Many cats and two dogs are part of the family.

We are a family of 6 from Bavaria. My husband, I and our 4 kids (ages 8 to 16) recently were guests of Silvia and Carlo. Our hosts gave us a warm welcome. We found this apartment bright, clean and nicely decorated. It was well stocked and equipped with everything our big family needed, maybe even more .We all enjoyed the pool, which was meticulously maintained. The panoramic views of the mountains, coupled with the private, tranquil surroundings made this the perfect place for much needed quiet retreat. I was a treat to not be right in the middle of all of the "typical tourist destination chaos". BUT, that being said, it was just a short distance to travel to famous cities like Pisa and Lucca, or the coast. We enjoyed our shared evening meals, with delicious homemade Italian cuisine, and lots of interesting conversation. We were able to learn a lot about their style of living, in this particular part of Italy. Great vacations always end too quickly ! Thank You to Silvia and Carlo, for everything!!! We will be back again, one day !!!
We spent an enjoyable 6 nights in Piano West with our daughter and her boyfriend. Beautiful Alpine views from the house, patio and pool. Lovely setting in quiet unspoilt area. Carlo and Sylvia were wonderful hosts. They wined and dined us for 2 of our evenings. Car essential, roads not for the faint hearted! 20 min walk up steep path to Metra quite challenging but worth it for the local dairy selling cheeses and salamis. Generally not a touristy area with little English spoken but Carlo and Sylvia would gladly intercede. Wonderful meal in La Spina Fiorito. 1.5 hr drive to Cinque Terra and Lucca - both well worth a visit for a day each.

The Garfagnana has many pretty medieval villages that hold colourful festivals in summer. You can sample the local cuisine and wine, listen to live music and dance the night away Italian style! Lucca is only 70km away and is well worth a day trip. Marvel at the medieval and renaissance architecture, take a bike ride around the city walls or simply pass the time of day in a pavement cafe', sipping a Prosecco. Pisa and Florence are a maximum 2 hours drive from Tripala. Spring and autumn are the best times to visit and see the architectural and artistic treasures. A wide choice of local specialities are offered in this period by the local restaurants and osterie, and can also be savoured during the various country celebrations in the nearby villages. In mild weather, you can easily reach from Tripala the Tirrenian sea beaches and villages, to enjoy long peaceful walks (i.e. Cinque Terre trekking path) and excellent Tuscanian and Ligurian fish cooking, out of the crowds of the high season!
