Townhouse in Lagos, Western Algarve - Very Peaceful Location Under 5 Minutes Walk To Main Square And Beaches

The house has an independent entrance from the street, next to the owner's private garage. A spacious living room opened unto a fully equipped kitchen, bedroom and bathroom on the first floor. Top floor has a small study at the top of the stairs and a wonderful terrace, well equipped and not overlooked.

About Marie-Pierre le Moigne-Jarvis

By 1992 most of the historical centre of town (where I have lived since the late 60') had become pedestrian and it was obvious that cars would have to be kept out of the streets. I also needed an extra storage for my work.

Eventually bought an old house, few meters from home, which I demolished to build a garage... Hence the existence of the "little pink house" ("wee house" as some of the regulars call it!).

It was a very exciting project, completely within my work & experience and it put me back on my feet after the sudden death of my Portuguese husband.

Why Marie-Pierre le Moigne-Jarvis chose Lagos region

With knowledge of the local climate through the year and the needs on a rental property for holidays I wanted to make sure it would be good enough for me if I had to live in it myself.

It is set in a very quiet environment, with pleasant local neighbours and my new husband and I (now both retired) make a challenge to keep it in prime conditions and assure that each of our guest have an enjoyable stay.

Special interest holidays:

There are plenty of choices for beaches, some walking distance. Surfing, fishing, dolphin watch and other boat trips... Riding, very good walks along the cliffs or in the countryside. Interesting trips in land, on the hills and along the coast.

Coast/Beach:

The nearest beach is under 10 minutes walk. Or a 5kms long in the bay, 10 minutes walk to it or over the river with a small ferry during the summer.

Many very good spots for surfing and windsurf and kiting.

Travel:

Faro airport is 80 kms away by motorway.

You can either rent a car (not needed once you are staying in town !). There are good taxis and a choice of Shuttle services from the airport .There are also trains from the down town Faro.

Distances:

Sagres at the far West point is only 30 kms away and is the historic place from where the Caravelas started on their search to the route to India with Vasco da Gama in the XVIth century. Silves 25km the old capital of the Algarve. Monchique the highest point of the area, lovely vegetation.

Further Details:

Lagos is a small and busy fishing town and you can buy the catch of the day at the local market (33 fish mongers and 2 butchers!). Fish and fruit -vegetable markets are fantastic. Great place for "foodies"! The town has a lot of activities cafes and bars, restaurants , museums, theatre, so it has life all year round.

When booking is confirmed we send information of what to do , where to go in the area .... and other parts of Portugal if travelling around .

We also send necessary instructions to drive to the property ,

It is our private " little gem " and we always meet our guests to answer all possible queries . We give a very individual service .

Comfortable, convenient & good value: Highly recommended!

This is a great little house for a relaxing holiday in lively Lagos. It has all of the amenities you will need on holiday such as dishwasher, washing machine, well-appointed kitchen (we self-catered most meals), comfy living room, nice bathroom. There's even a small library of books in English and French. There is also a TV and CD player albeit we didn't use either. The weather was too nice to stay indoors and the terrace is perfect for evening drinks. A BBQ grill is also provided and we used it several times.

The terrace on the roof is fantastic, looking over the local cemetery on one side (it's worth a stroll through) and the 14th century town wall on the other. There are chairs, a table, loungers and a big sun parasol. There are also some nice plants (the owner will appreciate you watering them every day or two).

Parking can usually be found within five minutes walk from the house but it does get busy so be warned. Beach goers park there during the day and locals park their cars on the street in the evening. However, you won't need a car in Lagos; the shops and restaurants are nearby and the local beaches are all 10-15 minutes walk away.

The house is close to the centre of Lagos with its bustling restaurants, bars and shops. The market on the main road is highly recommended if you like fresh fruit, veg and an amazing selection of freshly-caught fish and seafood, all at economical prices.

The local people are open and friendly, especially if you take the trouble to learn a few words and phrases in Portuguese... which is the polite thing to do anyway.

The property owners live nearby and are very friendly and helpful. We spent two weeks in this lovely property and will probably go back. One of the nicest self-catering properties I have ever stayed in, especially for two people as it is harder to find small self-catering properties of such quality. Highly recommended.

Lagos holiday 2017

Clear and helpful communication with the owner throughout the booking process. Prompt response to all queries and clear instruction on how to reach address. Owner was available throughout stay for advice and welcomed us on our arrival.

Property fully met description and is maintained to immaculate standards.

Close proximity to Old Town of Lagos and walking distance to main beach and small coves.

Excellent choice of restaurants again within walking distance.

Recommended without reservation.

Highly recommended!

This is a lovely property located in a quiet area with only a short walk to the Avenidia and Old Town.There are numerous restaurantsand shops and the beaches and Marina are nearby.

It really is a home from home and is maintained to a very high standard. It is clean, spacious and has a very well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed and a private roof terrace which is a real sun trap.

I was travelling solo and did not have a car. The bus and train services are nearby so it is easy to visit other areas. The house felt very safe and there were no concerns returning alone in the evenings. The supermarket was nearby and there is an excellent fish restaurant a minutes walk away.

The owner is exceptional and was very responsive during the booking process as well as during my stay, which I was able to extend.

I would highly recommend a stay at the property.

Excellent in every way

Lovely very well equipped house in an excellent location. Stayed here in September 2015 and we were so lucky to have found this home on owners direct. The sun terrace really is the icing on the cake as it is a sun trap and so private. Would have no hesitation in recommending this home from home to anyone and hope to stay here again when we return to Lagos. The owners are a lovely welcoming helpful couple.

Delightful, quiet well equipped home close to town

This is a lovely place to stay - a short walk from the centre of Lagos, in easy reach of restaurants, market, beach, marina, etc. The accommodation has been really well thought out and the house remains cool even on the hottest day. There is easy parking behind the house but you do not need a car as everything is within easy walking distance. It is equipped with everything you could need and definitely not your standard rental property. The icing on the cake is the roof terrace which is very private, sheltered and well maintained. We were returning to Lagos and this was a perfect home away from home for us. The hosts are most attentive but not at all intrusive - we thoroughly recommend this house and we will be returning!

Perfect place to stay for two

Very nice house with well equipped kitchen, BBQ on the roof and everything was very clean. We always found a parking spot nearby and market, city, restaurants and bars are close around. And not to forget the owners are extremely nice and helpful!

Booking Notes:
To confirm a booking: once we have agreed on dates we request a 50% deposit and the other 50% 30 days before the stay. Payment can be done by private cheque or bank transfer to be arranged. In case of unforseen cancellation insurance usually helps.

Changeover Day:
In winter we prefer a minimum of 3 weeks stay unless the clients will be charged for 3 days previous heating.
Special arrangements can always be made, especially over Christmas/New-Year.

Notes on prices:
Prices are two persons per week in Euros. In the winter we like to warm up the house before clients arrive therefore we prefer more than 7 days. Special arrangements can be done for Christmas and New-Year. In the winter electricity is charged by reading the meter and we can also provide logs (at cost price) for the wood burner. An extra 10% is charged for extra person (maximum 1). We accept "civilized" dogs but charge 20.00euros for the extra cleaning!

100% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
