Apartment on Raday Utca, Central Budapest, Hungary - Beside Metro, Buses & Trams & Indoor Market
- english, hungarian
I'm a private owner living in Dublin Ireland but consider lovely Budapest my second home. I initially visited eight years ago to have dental work done and loved it so much I decided to purchase an apartment. When I'm not there I rent it to help pay the bills!... It's great to hear back from guests telling me how much they loved staying in such a beautiful property (if I say so myself) and that they enjoyed the delights of Budapest. Before guests decide to book and afterwards I'm delighted to make recommendations about transport, restaurants, the best baths to visit and any other question that may have. Pat

We enjoyed our time in Budapest- what a fantastic city! Pat’s place was perfect. The location is central but not noisy. Comfortable set up which made our stay all the more relaxing.
Perfect spot to stay in Budapest
My wife and myself decided that it was well past time to continue our European honeymoon. Ran out of gas and funds 23 years ago in Slovenia- had to hightail it home before the credit card got axed. Our plan was to keep going east(Budapest was the goal.) So now back to Eastern Europe we go. Fortunately, we landed up in Pat's flat.
Very clean, spacious,, 2 bathrooms-which is handy for a month long stay, kitchen with 4 gas burners, oven, and reasonably sized fridge. Beautiful terrace outside the main bedroom
-overlooking the main street below.
Speaking of the street below- it is filled with cafes, bars, restaurants, and maybe most importantly you are literaly next door to the world's best gelato shop (MAMO)- trust me!
Also there is a 24 hour store just down the street(Raday U) Its basically the convenience store of your dreams-selling chicken sandwiches, cherry ciders, and sunblock at 4 am. Also, there is a main grocery store 3 blocks up the main street that sells good meats, cheeses, breads, local wines, and toiletries at crazy cheap prices.
All that coupled with an amazing view and Pat's attention to detail in his apartment- Could not have been better. Walking distance to the Danube and the Jewish Quarter. Do yourself a favor and book your flat at Pat's-(and no,I don't know the guy personally.) Safe travels, have fun, enjoy!
Well equiped, large apartment, in beautiful building, with wonderful location
We really enjoyed staying in Pat's apartment, it oozes old time budapest, but everything works well, and was as advertised. The apartment is really quite large, and could easily have handled more than just my wife and I. As it is on the 2nd floor, the elevator was definitely a godsend in getting everything moved in. There are plenty of little shops, cafes, and restaurants just around the corner and he city market is only 3 blocks away. Overall a great place to base your visit to Budapest. We really fell in love with the city, and would gladly rent Pat's apartment again if we ever get to return.
Many thanks for your lovely review, it's much appreciated. I'm glad you enjoyed staying at my apartment and your visit to wonderful Budapest. Come back soon.

As one of Europe's truly great capital cities, first time visitors are usually overwhelmed by the sheer beauty of the city. Divided in two by the Danube, the numerous vantage points from hilly Buda and Óbuda offer spectacular views of a flat, busy, sprawling Pest on the river's eastern bank A city that manages to surprise and enthral in equal measure, reminders of Budapest's rich and often tragic history are ever present. Indeed, the scars of the nation's crushed 1956 uprising (which have yet to fade from the nation's psyche) are still evident from the many bullet hole ridden buildings around the city. Of course, one hopes that now, following Hungary's accession to the EU on 1 May 2004, its younger citizens can take advantage of the opportunity and stability that lie ahead in a united Europe.
Certainly, since the move to parliamentary democracy in 1990, Budapest has witnessed rapid change. Sizeable investment from the west, coupled with a greater choice of goods and services means that daily life is now little different to any other major city in Europe. Of course, this leap into a "brave new world" has also brought problems too. A renewed sense of vibrancy and pride has taken hold, with many of the fine apartment blocks that turned Vienna and Budapest into two of Europe's most beautiful cities (during the early 1900s) now being restored to their former glory.
And, most importantly, the city has retained its unique character, while the locals remain just as polite, stubborn and individualistic as ever.
