Bright, quiet and elegant building located in the Cannaregio district just steps from Campo Santi Apostoli. Building a few units, two apartments :
On the first on the first floor of 90 m2 has two bedrooms, a lounge, a dining room, kitchen, bathroom, three balconies and a magnificent view of the canal where gondolas pass each day, completely renovated and furnished in style have the advantage of being locateds in the center of the most characteristic of Venice.
We had a wonderful stay at this apartment as well as a lovely long weekend (Thu - Sun). This was our second time in this apartment.
There is everything you need in the apartment from towels to cooking ware. It is also well kept and tidy.
Location by the canal on the 1st floor with two balconies facing the canal is very nice. The street where the entrance is, is quiet as is the neighborhood, and yet you are only a few steps away from Strada Nuova and less than a ten minute walk from the Rialto bridge.
We took Attilia's, the landlady's, advice and had dinner at Casa Mia on Friday and it was everything she promised. Nice atmosphere, really friendly staff and delicious food at reasonable prices.
There are a lot of other nice restaurants in the area as well as small supermarket behind the corner.
We will certainly come back to Venice when we get a chance and stay at this lovely apartment if it is available.
Unfortunately, this apartment was not as advertised and was extremely disappointing. Looking back, I see nearly all of the positive reviews are from 4-5 years ago.
We were supposed to stay 3 nights and only stayed 1. We lost a lot of money but we were happy to get out as fast as we could. We spent a month in Italy staying in many apartments and all were excellent, except for this one.
When we got there the WiFi was broken, as was the refrigerator and the stove. There is one small AC unit in the hallway ceiling which did nothing at all on a warm summer night. And they tell you not to leave windows open because birds will fly in. So you’re stuck sweating out the night.
Worst of all, it was not clean. There were hairs in two of the beds, the shower was filthy, the kitchen was dirty and most of the bowls and utensils were dirty. We ended up eating out of paper cups we had bought.
We weren’t looking for anything fancy. But we expected a basic level of cleanliness and comfort.
And after we told them we were leaving after one night nobody asked why. I guess that says it all.
Great location, gave us a real Venician feeling. Loved being on this quiet canal. This isn't the place for you if you like sleeping in...besides the birds, the loading and unloading that takes place on the lower ramp near apartment is quite noisy. We loved it all the same.
We stayed a week in Attilia's beautiful apartment. We selected it because of its beautiful situation with balconies over a quiet back canal that provided views that did not disappoint ( pure Venice!) We found the apartment very comfortable and roomy with an atomosphere of a cosy home. The kitchen was exceptionally outfitted which made home cooking a breeze.
The location proved to be really excellent. Very close to neccesities with a green grocery, salumeria, grocery store, and wine store within a block. An easy walk to San Marco, and just few blocks from the grand canal in one direction and the Foundamente Nove to catch the ferries to the airport and islands in the other, Yet it is on a quiet street off the tourist tracks. I would return to this apartment again without hesitation, we loved it.
It was a pleasure to deal with Attilia and Oriel, the caretaker who lives just above on the top floor who was there to answer our questions and help us understand the clothes washer.
We have recently returned from a second wonderful holiday in Venice. We had good weather and staying in the city for a whole week this time, meant we were able to explore many new parts of it, including the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello, each with their own individual character.
We so enjoyed staying in Attilia's lovely apartment, with its balcony and terraces overlooking the canal below. The cleaning lady had done an excellent job prior to our arrival and the apartment was well appointed, in a good location with two supermarkets nearby and was just right for our needs. Our friends had the second bedroom which they found very comfortable. They did suggest however that having a mirror in their room would be a helpful addition to future guests, rather than using the one in the bathroom.
Orial, (Attilia's assistant) was friendly, professional and very helpful, even meeting us at Fondamenta Nuove when we arrived, which we didn’t expect.
Many thanks Attilia, for all the help you gave us, plus all the useful information you provided about your apartment and staying in Venice. We are so glad that we choose D’Oria House.
I adored my two week stay in Attilia's flat. The first floor location was perfect after days jam-packed with sightseeing. The flat was so wonderful that there were several days I didn't venture out of the apartment until noon. I LOVED the beautiful terraces overlooking the canal. The apartment is close to the Strada Nuova business district yet far away enough to be peacefully quiet. You can find everything you need on Strada Nuova including the Billa market.
The air-conditioning worked blissfully well during the hot and humid Venetian summer. I considered my little flat my oasis from all the crowds and noise that are a constant presence in Venice. Cannaregio, where the apartment is centrally located to all the sights and just a 5 minute walk to the Rialto Bridge . It's about 15 to Piazza San Marco.
The apartment was clean and tidy and had everything you would need to cook your meals. Since cooking isn't my thing, I didn't cook, but, made good use of the refrigerator to keep my prosecco and cheeses chilled. The wine and prosecco from the barrel wine shop around the corner is inexpensive and delightful. I enjoyed it nightly on my terrace while watching the gondolas go by.
As a photo enthusiast, I would often leave the flat at 7 am to take photos in the peaceful post dawn light. I made a habit of going daily to Gelato Fantasy for their AMAZING amarena cherry gelato .. sometimes as early as 9 am! I also enjoyed the polpete meatballs at nearby Alla Vedova and had a nice meals at Casa Mia and Trattoria da Bepi Gia 54
By far, however, my favorite restaurant was Hosteria al Vecio Braggoso where I ate three nights in a row. The staff was friendly and attentive. I was greeted with a glass of proesseco, a sherbet cleanser and on my last night a lovely dessert ... all on the house. I am a fish lover so I only had fish there, all of which delightful. Enrico, is charming and the restaurant's decor is quaint and cozy.
Attilia's follow up is impeccable and she was very helpful with all my questions and with helping me decide what transportation to use. Her directions from the Grand Canal (where the shared taxi dropped me) to the flat were perfect! Be sure to ask Tota about the back streets the locals use to get around to avoid the crush of tourists.
My only word of caution is to be sure you understand that you will be unable to enter the apartment before 4 pm - You can leave your bags but, not enter.
The apartments are located in a building with few units in the heart of Venice, near the impressive Palazzo Ca d'Oro in a quiet but strategic location inhabited mainly by Venetians and served by every comfort such as supermarkets, cinemas, theaters, restaurants, shops, tourist attractions. It is also possible to reach with only three minutes walk the Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco a little further. Easy to reach because very close to the vaporetto stop (line 1) and the comfortable and large Nova Road. It is 10 minutes from the Railway Station and Terminal Auto \ Bus in Piazzale Roma and the Lido with its famous beach is 15 minutes by boat ever to line 1
