Overview

About the property

Large Villa in Tuscany sleeps 12 with private pool & sun bathing area, plus a large garden with spectacular views

Villa Gina has been renovated to the highest standard and provides generous accommodation for twelve people with six bedrooms (with new beds), modern facilities (including three bathrooms) and a large modern kitchen.

The house has a beautiful swimming pool and sun bathing area in its own grounds, with breathtaking views over the Appenine Mountains and Serchio Valley.

The Villa is located in a small historic hill-top village called Sommocolonia. The village has a newly opened restaurant just a hundred metres from the house. The restaurant serves good quality traditional Italian fare.

The restaurant currently opens on Friday, Saturday & Sunday, but the owner has said they will open especially on other nights of the week for parties of eight or more people. All you have to do is ask!

Sommocolonia is a picturesque village with a fascinating history which can be investigated in the new village museum. During World War II the village was on the gothic line. It experienced devastating bombing, and also examples of outstanding bravery.

Near-by Barga is a busy, thriving town. It has countless festivals and fiestas, stunning architecture, great traditional restaurants, supermarket, and a variety of banks and bars and cafes. It is surrounded by terrific walking, touring and motorcycling country.

Villa Gina is a perfect spot for relaxing by the pool, or for using as a base to explore Tuscany. Florence, Pisa and Lucca are all just an easy drive away, as are the popular and traditional coastal resorts of Viareggio and Forte di Marmi.

Simply amazing!!

From the very beginning, it was extremely easy, fast communicating with Susan with regards to the villa. Susan was extremely helpful, giving us the smallest details for our drive upto the villa, the local amenities and pointers.

The villa was very clean, and had all that we needed for our stay. We were three families - 11 people and with the well furnished bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen, nice pool we could not have asked for more. The caretakers - were helpful, but stayed out of or way, respecting privacy, but helpful with the garbage collections and instructions.

The villa is at a spectacular location up in the mountains, with awesome views of the cloud covered valley as we woke up every morning.

Would love to go back again some day. Thanks Susan for giving us the opportunity to enjoy your villa Gina.

Exceeded our expectations

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of spending a memorable family holiday (covering three generations) at Villa Gina. The villa is immaculately presented and equipped for a party of our size, which numbered eleven. The views from the garden over the hillside are spectacular. Our favourite place without doubt was by the pool, beautifully sheltered a wonderful suntrap for the sun worshippers in our party, sun loungers for everyone with a very welcomed shaded cabana, for those who were not. The owner Susan is very professional and very easy to deal with and I have no hesitation in recommending the villa to other potential holiday makers.

Lovely vacation

  • 5 of 5

Two families with 12 people from Finland had a wonderful week in Villa Gina. The property was spacious, well-maintained and had every facility you could need, both inside and outside, for a great holiday. The view from the Villa was exceptionally beautiful. When staying at the villa we ate all our meals outside just enjoying the scenery and relaxing in the warm weather. The villa is situated in a small and charming historic village on a top of a hill. The nearby ’agriturismo’ Al Palazzo had a restaurant which was open during weekend. It served tasteful local food – one of their specialities was Cinta Senese pig! If you wanted shops, bars or restaurants, you could find them nearest in Barga, which was situated about 6 kilometers from the villa. The narrow serpentine road to Barga was at first a challenge, but soon we find out, that the traffic was very quiet and flexible so no worries about that. Barga was a lovely town with a medieval centre and a beautiful cathedral with an amazing view to the mountains (best time to be there is when the sun sets).

We fell in love with Villa Gina!

  • 5 of 5

Everything about our experience staying at Villa Gina was wonderful! The owner was so helpful and responsive to our many emails. Five of us stayed at Villa Gina for two weeks in September. We traveled throughout Italy using Villa Gina as our home base. We all agreed that Villa Gina and the historic village of Sommocolonia were our favorite places. The views from the Villa were amazing. The Villa was clean and well equipped. We enjoyed just sitting by the new pool sipping a glass of Chianti! The walk to Sommocolonia was beautiful and charming. The nearby restaurant was fabulous. The food was delicious and they were so welcoming. I hope we get to return some day!!

Buone vacanze!!!!
