Sant Lluís Barn Rental Photos and Description

Barn with 3 bedrooms ensuite in private lane, tranquil surroundings.

'Es Barranc' is the barn of an old traditional Menorcan farmhouse. It has recently undergone a total renovation to the highest standards and with exceptional taste inspired by the owner, a well-known artist, who lives at the farmhouse next door. It retains many original features, but has every modern amenity. The main entrance door leads into the large lounge/dining aprox. 11 x 5.5 mwith high beamed ceiling. Thick stone walls keep the house cool.

Just outside the lounge, facing south, is an enclosed terrace with a 3m x 3m pergola for shade and outdoor dining. A wide awning is newly installed for extra coolness in the terrace. Two bedrooms have ceiling fans; all bedrooms are ensuite.

Outside this area and across the lane is the pool and children´s splash pool, bar area with fridge, BBQ, outside shower and sunbathing terraces, all within a drystone wall enclosure with gate for the exclusive use of guests. The area overlooks the kitchen garden of the farmhouse. The main swimming pool has been carefully converted from its original purpose as a water deposit. Today, it provides a 7x7m swimming pool accessed by several stone steps with a depth of 2m.

Absolutely Perfect!

We arrived to a very friendly welcome from Fernando who was then joined by Dolores who gave us the tour and filled us in with the history of this wonderful property. We were three in party, myself and my husband and friend. We had the most amazing week and are already arranging to return next year for longer. The property was clean and very well equipped, the pool and BBQ area across the little lane opposite was very private and the whole setting was very quiet and tranquil - just want we needed. Dolores and Fernando, who lived next door were very helpful but in no way intrusive and gave us a lot of help when we had hire car issues half way through the holiday. All in a perfect holiday setting and we can't wait to go back next year! Thank you

For anyone looking for a quiet setting, down a private lane with no traffic, our Converted Barn is an excellent choice for families with or without small children. We have had an especially hot summer but the barn with its stone walls and bedroom ceiling fans is quite cool. Wonderful property with such character and charm

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Es Barranc. We are a family of five and it was perfect for us. We arrived and were immediately greeted by Fernando and Dolores, who are charming and so helpful. The property and setting were wonderful and we were thrilled. The property is very spacious with a lovely living area and the courtyard outside area is perfect with small children. It is full of character and very cool inside and the fans in the bedrooms were very effective. It was so peaceful too and relaxing. The pool area was lovely and the children loved the splash pool and the larger pool. It is also great that the pool is separate from the property, especially with little ones. The bbq area was ideal too and great fun. It was a very memorable holiday and we would love to return. Many thanks Dolores and Fernando.

Owner's Response: Our converted barn is excellent for small children as this very simpatica family has written. The living area is spacious and the stone walled enclosed patio area with the pergola, extra sunshade and new awning is both good for sunbathing and a place for children to play. Across the lane is the pool and splash pool, also enclosed and gated. Our lane is private so no traffic and only 2 neighbours. Many thanks to this warm and friendly family for their recommendation. Like them, all the people who have stayed with us . with or without children - have said that they especially enjoyed their holiday here in Menorca.

Great property, lovely owners

We were made very welcome in this extremely comfortable and well-equipped property - by the owners not to mention the dog! We even tried the pool though it was only April. Loved Menorca and found wonderful local restaurants within walking distance; in fact, it is a walking sort of place whatever you want to do. The owners gave us lots of advice on what to see and do and we enjoyed every minute.

The only minus point - and it was a small one - was related to the fitted lower sheet on the bed which had lost all its elastic so it just wandered everywhere all night!!!!!!!!!

Owner's Response: Fernando and I enjoyed having this simpatico couple here for a week. They were interested in everythingl Menorca had to offer besides the pretty beaches, like the prehistoric monuments all over the island. A note: no sheets allowed that dont have strong elastic on the corners!! That´s a guarantee!

Quiet and charming

We stayed here in July 2014 for a week.

This is a charming, rustic location that is very quiet and secluded.

It is within a short drive of most things you would need, including an excellent supermarket and it isn't far to the airport or Mahon. We suggest that you hire a small car for the duration of your stay.

This ISN'T in a touristy spot like S'Algar, nor is a recent conversion (no air con, for example) so if you want a modern villa, lots of people, with beaches and shops in very close proximity, look elsewhere.

Dolores and Fernando, the owners, live next door and could not be more helpful or friendly.

Our family (2 adults and children 11 and 7) had a wonderful holiday and will be back.

Rustic Menorcan Charm

We thoroughly enjoyed a very relaxing holiday at Es Barranc. We travelled as two families with two teenage boys and found the villa spacious and comfortable, enough space so as we didn't feel on top of each other - as it were! The villa is down a fairly narrow lane, but wide enough to drive down, and is therefore very quiet and peaceful. All amenities are close by - supermarkets, local shops and restaurants. We hired a car for a week out of the ten days which was adequate as we were able to sightsee and stock up on foods, for the remainder of our stay we walked into town - about 8 minutes. Next door is the Bodega Binifadet which is definitely worth a visit, for wine tasting, tapas or evening meal - a mere few minutes

stroll away. The pool was very clean and a must to cool down. We used the bbq a few nights and found it so relaxing to just sit and chat and watch the stars whikst sampling the excellent wine. Bedrooms are clean and comfortable and all en suite which was a definite plus. No air conditioning but found the fans adequate. The owners, Dolores and Fernando, live next door. They were extremely helpful and we were very impressed by their suggestions of things to do and places to visit. - though they were in no way intrusive. We would definitely go back - can't give better praise tgan that!

Menorca has over 100 coves and sandy beaches, many of which are particularly good for children. The nearest beaches are between 10 and 15 minutes away by car. If you want to take a picnic or go further afield there are many wonderful unspoilt beaches and coves. Sant Lluis is the nearest town with restaurants, pizzarias, shops, bank, cashpoints. Mahon is a fascinating port built round the finest natural harbour in the Mediterranean. It is an attractive town with markets for meat, vegetables, fruit and fish and a variety of clothing and souvenir shops. There are excellent and varied restaurants along the waterfront, with cafes and bars with music.

Monte Toro is the highest hill on the island about 30 minutes drive.

Boating: Menorca is a great island for sailing enthusiasts. At the port of Mahon yachts and power boats of all sizes can be hired or day trips can be taken.

Fornells on the North coast is a centre for windsurfing, hiring of small motorboats etc. on the large sheltered inlet from the sea.

Archaeology: Menorca is famous for its Taulas, its prehistoric stone age monuments. These can be seen all over the island... great standing stones and stone burial places.

Walking: There are many little inlets with sandy beaches accessible only by walking or by sea. There are also some nature reserves such as that at Es Grau.
