Fabulous winter break at Tides Reach

  • 5 of 5

Tides Reach is in a perfect position for a winter break. If the weather is awful sit at the window and gaze at the power of the sea. Not far to nip to the local pubs and eateries. Cosy, comfortable cottage which is hundreds of years old but equipped with all modern amenities. We felt very much at home and would thoroughly recommend it. Booking was easy and Laurence provided us with all the details to ensure our stay was hassle free.

A little Cornish gem

  • 4 of 5

Absolutely loved the house which is located in a fantastic spot virtually on the slipway right in the heart of the village. The pictures really tell a thousand words to describe Port Isaac and more importantly the property itself- quirky, quaint and boasting historical character .Whilst the standard of cleanliness was acceptable there are a couple of minor issues which need to be addressed i.e. the grouting around the shower/bath was blackened with mould - inside the kitchen cabinets required cleaning - dusty under the bed (plus a discarded lozenge). We put it down to the time restriction placed on the cleaning service due to the short change over period.Having mentioned these points,it certainly did not spoil our stay in anyway and we would return to the property in the future.

Port Isaac is a lovely fishing village with sufficient restaurants to satisfy most tastes. It is ideally located as a base to visit the many attractions nearby. The New Road car park is a 10 min walk away along the scenic coastal path.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would not hesitate to recommend a stay at the property.

A very interesting and comfortable property

  • 4 of 5

We were very excited by the close proximity of the sea and loved the unusual house. The entrance was somewhat vexed and the pub people smoking near our door but once inside we were very cosy. It was a great place to enjoy all that Port Isaac has to offer, being close to everything and wonderful for beach combing. Bringing our cases down the hill in the wind and rain was very hard but added the the quirkiness of the whole holiday. We would certainly return and recommend Tides Reach to anyone wanting an interesting place to stay.

Thank you Laurence.

Absolutely the best location in Port Isaac

  • 5 of 5

You only have to look at the photos to see how fantastic the position of this property really is. It's on the harbour with amazing views of the sea from every room. Step outside and you're in the hustle and bustle of beautiful Port Isaac - with lovely quality restaurants cafes and pubs all around.

We were a bit worried that Port Isaac was going to be mobbed with all the Doc Martin fame but actually it wasn't like that at all, we were told the summer of course is very different.

The cottage itself is lovely and well equipped. It's not luxury modern or anything and is quite rustic but we loved it. The bathroom could do with a bit of an upgrade- the shower was quite poor alternating between scalding hot then cold every few seconds, the tiles need re-grouting etc and there really should be some kind of bath mat to prevent slipping.

The only other suggestions to an otherwise glorious place would be to provide handwash in the bathrooms and a handtowel for the wash basins.

We had a wonderful week thank you.

Just love Tides Reach...the perfect place to get away from it all.

  • 5 of 5

Tides Reach is lovely, cosy, charming, good sized and well equipped. It is set over 3 floors with steep flights of stairs up to each floor. It has a rustic cosy feel and there are sea views from all rooms. We really enjoyed our stay watching the ebb and flow of tide and people. Sleeping with the windows open you can hear the soothing sound of the sea... most relaxing. Yes you do have to park a way a way and there's no phone signal but it's all worth it to slip into a simpler way of life for a while and relax. There was an unexpected emergency at the property during our stay but the Mote Restaurant next door were very helpful and got us in touch with Laurence and all was resolved smoothly. We would recommend the Mote and the Golden Lion both are dog friendly and serve great food. Book to avoid disappointment. Also take the time to explore the many alleyways and paths and find the many hidden cottages. We would love to return.

Tides Reach was perfect for us (4). It's right in the heart of Port Isaac.

  • 4 of 5

The location is in the center of the "old" village, with restaurants, shops and bakeries all around. Lawrence & Sally took care of our needs quickly & with a smile. Remote parking requires some advanced preparation, but then it's not a big issue.
