House in La Boucherie, Vendee, Pays de la Loire, France - Peaceful Location in Small Hamlet

This is a spacious traditional house on a large plot in a rural setting. The downstairs consists of a large lounge, a dining room/kitchen and a bathroom. The lounge has a large feature fireplace, ceramic tiled floor and wooden beams. A patio door opens out into the large rear garden. The upstairs consists of a large bedroom, two medium sized bedrooms and a shower room with a toilet. There are wooden floors, exposed beams and a wood panelled ceiling. The garden at the rear of the house is just under half an acre. There is a flat section by the house which can be used for games. It then slopes down to a small stream, which is the boundary. Across the stream there are open fields. There is a garden table with 6 chairs, 4 reclining chairs and a barbecue. You can have a perfect evening watching the sun set over the fields while your children tire themselves out running round the garden!

Across the stream there are fields, which have recently been used to grow maize. There is also a small pond. Utility Room: The washing machine is in the downstairs bathroom. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The house is cleaned between lettings. Guests need to bring their own towels and linen.

Beautiful location

My family and I have stayed at this beautiful house on two occasions. We absolutely love staying here and will definitely be making further bookings in the future. We have taken our two toddlers to the house and we have found the house to be very child-friendly. They particularly enjoyed playing in the huge garden at the back of property. We found the house to be extremely well maintained and spotless, with all the facilities you require for a comfortable stay. The house is a short drive to nearby beaches and we enjoyed eating out at restaurants close to the house. The owner was very helpful and answered any questions we had about the property very quickly. The owner also has a contact in the village who was very friendly and gave us advice for our stay. I would not hesitate in recommending this property to a friend or family member. We really look forward to our next stay.

Fantastic holiday

Thanks for a brilliant holiday. The house and garden are lovely and full of charm. Everything is exactly as described. We found it very peaceful and relaxing. This was our second year staying there and it wont be our last. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet and tranquil time in the French countryside.

La Grande Plage at St-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, to the south of the town, is the nearest beach. It is only 30 minutes drive. The water is very shallow and is ideal for children and good for surfing.

Apremont is only 15 minutes drive and there is a man-made beach at the lake, with a safe supervised bathing area and play equipment. You can also do wind surfing and hire pedalos on the lake and river.

The larger resorts of Les Sables-d'Olonne and St. Jean-de-Monts, both about 40 minutes drive away.


It is recommended that visitors have a car. The nearest port is St Malo, with a drive time of around 3 hours. Caen is 4 hours, Cherbourg is 5 hours and Calais around 6 to 7 hours.


The small town of Beaulieu has a small supermarket and 2 restaurants and is less than a mile away. Aizenay is a 10 mins drive and there is a choice of supermarkets, bars and restaurants.

La Puy de Fou is a historic theme park just over an hour away.

Longer trips could include Futuroscope (2 hours), La Rochelle (2 hours), the Ile de Nourmoutier and Iled' Yeu.

Within an hour there are chateau at Apremont, Talmont, Tiffauges and Commequiers.

Please contact the owner to arrange the booking. A 30% deposit is payable on booking, with the balance payable one month before the start of the stay. A £100 security deposit is required.

Changeover Day:
The changeover day is Saturday. This may be flexible, especially outside school holidays.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
