This spacious two bedroom apartment offers an excellent get away. Situated on the edge of the village, near to the surfers beach and the sandy lagoons. El Cotillo is a quiet picturesque fishing village with a good selection of restaurants and bars. Ideal for those wanting a truly relaxing break in a stunning location. El Cotillo is a perfect base for lazy days on the lagoon beaches, or for taking advantage of the many other activities the area has to offer. The apartment has its own individual large sun terrace which is perfect for dining alfresco and sunbathing with a glass of sangria and a good book. Furnished to a high standard and is fully equipped for 4 people. 20 minutes drive from Corralejo or catch a bus minutes from the apartment and 40 minutes drive from the Capital Puerto Del Rosario which offers fantastic shopping. About The Owner

I live on the island of Fuerteventura with my husband. The apartment is our only apartment for rent in El Cotillo therefore we can offer a personal service and give as much time as needed to each individual client.

We had been coming to Fuerteventura for 15 years and fell in love with the island all those years ago so deiced to move here in 2008 and still love it here.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2004

There are numerous benefits for staying in El Cotillo

You can really escape the crowds. Some of the best restaurants on the island are there and all within easy walking distance.

The local buses run regularly to Corralejo and you can also get a connection from there to Puerto Rosario the capital of the island.

You can do as little or as much as you want. Bird watching, cycling, fishing, surfing or nothing but sunbath and drink the delightful Wine.

The are a few supermarkets and gift shops but not too many!

With the large patio area you can also enjoy great alfresco dining, have a BBQ or get a takeaway and enjoy a quiet night.

4/3/13 “A great appartment in a quiet place.” We've just had a great week in El Cortillo. Fantastic apartment it had everything we needed and more, plus a welcome pack. The village is quiet which we like, good restaurants and bars but if you want something livelier is not far from Corralejo by bus or if you hire a car. Recommended

Jan 2013 “perfect!” The apartment is lovely, just like having your own home. The owners were lovely and were there to greet us upon our arrival. Sandy and her husband have thought of everything in the apartment: beer ready in the fridge :-) childrens games, beach gear, cool bag. You name it it's there for you. All rooms are tastefully decorated, lovely comfy beds and lovely patio area to relax in the sunshine. Thank-you Sandy!

Notes on accommodation: Each bedroom has ceiling fans. No smoking in the apartment is permitted and no pets. large enclosed patio area. We can recommend a good hire Car Company if required and there is ample space for parking or if you prefer a lift to and from the airport this can be arranged at a very competitive price compared to the airport taxi. A basic welcome pack will be included but if anything specific is required please let us know and we will try to accommodate. Also if you are booking for a special occasion please let us know. An information pack containing local information and restaurant guide, bus timetable etc is kept in the lounge. Outside: Large patio area with 4 sun loungers, patio table with parasol and 4 chairs. Cleaning /Linen and towels provided including beach towels. A midweek clean and change of linen can be arranged for rents more than 1 week. Other: A very large enclosed sun terrace/patio area containing x 4 sun lounges, patio table, parasol and 4 chair

Beautiful apartment in a quirky coastal villiage with fabulous beaches.

We loved our stay in this tastefully decorated, clean, modern and bright apartment. Everything was supplied including washing liquid for the new washing machine, cafetière and a well equipped modern kitchen. The bed was very comfortable and we slept really well. There was plenty of hot water for showers at all times.

The owners, Sandy and Andy, could not have been more helpful with Andy picking us up from the airport ( at a reasonable cost), giving us lots of information and a quick tour of the area and Sandy settling us in with a welcome pack (which included a nice bottle of wine).

El Cortillo is a small, ancient, fishing villiage with most of the action on the harbours. Our days were spent walking across the gorgeous coastline or sunbathing in the dunes near the lagoons which were sheltered out of the wind. It was a bit too cold to swim in early January although braver people may do it. The Ocean views were spectacular.

One of the things we loved most was the choice of very good restaurants. There is a helpful guide that the owners provide and we were hard pressed to choose our favourite. Each one had a different kind of menu and the prices for dinner averaged around 30:euros for two, with a bottle of wine. We were caught out the first time with cash as bread is always charged extra, on that occasion the owner made a joke and wasn’t concerned that we were a few cents short. All the food and service were exceptionally good. Everyone willingly spoke English, menus were provided in English and there are a couple of English owned restaurants as well as German and Spanish. We enjoyed exploring the quirky little streets and coming upon places to eat and recommend that you read the guide in the apartment and that you do the same. None were bad or to be avoided. One tip, if you go in January and want to eat outside by the Ocean, pack a good fleece and a hat. The atmosphere and the sound of crashing waves is worth the chill. The more expensive restaurants have outside heaters.

Another brilliant thing is the big supermarket just over the road, 2 mins walk from the apartment. We found a really good white wine which cost under 2 euros, fresh bread, although there is also a fab French bakery in the Village, fruit, water, cheese, Spanish ham and everything you could possibly need.

This was our first trip to The Canaries and we struck gold. Home now to a freezing winter but refreshed and feeling the benefit of the winter sun.

Well what can we say that's not already been said about this beautiful apartment that Andy and Sandy rent out.

From the moment we arrived till we sadly had to leave everything was just perfect. What a lovely apartment, everything is like a home from home even down to the cool bag and ice blocks for your endless days on the beautiful beaches and lagoons here at El Cotillo. So peaceful and the standard of the apartment is 1st class and the surrounding area. Just a short stroll to centre of village with great bars and restaurants which have a lovely relaxed feeling to them and with no pressure to go in. We have been coming to Fuerteventura for the last 17 years and this is our first time in Cotillo, why have we not been sooner we will be back. Welcome pack was just great especially the red wine! that went down a treat whilst sat on the terrace El Cotillo is a hidden gem and we return asap. Andy and Sandy it was a pleasure to meet you both and the apartment is a credit to you both, thank you for making our holiday perfect and just the place to relax.So have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Clean and well appointed

we selected this area as it was recommended by a friend as being not too overdeveloped; this was true. There were plenty of places to eat out and enough to do, you need a car if you want to see all the island. The property was clean well stocked with some thoughtful touches. Wi-Fi is not very good if want to keep in touch.

The property was great.

The apartment was a great base for us. It was clean and had a great outside space and everything we needed was there.

The position is good, quiet in the evenings, although within walking distance from the restaurants and shops.

The one disappointment was the WIFI. Only available for a cost and we could only get it when outside the apartment and then you couldn't always get a connection. You don't always want to go to a restaurant to get the free access.

Good Property for Two in Quiet Resort

When we first got to El Cotillo we did have our doubts about it as a resort. It's a bit of a strange mixture of buildings and building plots that looks like they were working on a huge expansion, and then stopped for some reason. But as a result there are almost no hotels, which means that you get a quiet, more relaxed location and a choice of good quality restaurants rather than "All Day English Breakfast" joints as far as the eye can see.

On our first evening we watched the sun go down at the Mirador (Tapas menu for two including wine is 25 euros!), and we were regulars at El Goloso the French bakery for cakes and bread.

The resort has two areas of beaches - to the south are the long beaches used by the surfers while to the north are a set of volcanic rock lagoons that are great for safe swimming and snorkelling, though exactly what you can do is dependant on the state of the tide. And each lagoon has a large area of yellow sand to put your towel down on.

The apartment is great for two people, though I think any more and it might begin to feel a bit cramped. It's well equipped (with parasol and wind break) as well as stuff for inside. The welcome pack was, well, very welcome, and the flat also had things like washing up liquid which meant we didn't have to buy much for the week. When we were there was a particularly fiendish 1500 piece jigsaw which we managed to polish off. And there's a supermarket just across the road.

Only downside was the internet. The only Wi-Fi is by separate arrangement, and said to work best on the balcony. To be honest we didn't bother, and spent more time talking to each other, topped up with a bit of cellular data (much cheaper now due to the EU, well at least until next year...), so we didn't miss it much.

We agree regarding space which is why we have a maximum of 3 people able to rent although others in the area accommodate 4 people, we do not want people to feel too cramped. The internet is as mentioned on the advert. If you go to general facilities and hover over internet it does say " You can buy credit for internet on arrival. It works well on the patio area but not brilliant inside the apartment" Most cafes/restaurants in the area do offer free WiFi. Thanks again for taking good care of the apartment and would look forward to welcoming you both back should you wish to return.

What a great place to stay for a relaxing holiday.

Have been to Fuertaventura twice a year for the past six years and El Cotillo was a fantastic surprise. We normally go to the lagoons every time we are there but have never stayed in El Cotillo. Our apartment was a home from home with everything you could ask for and will definitely be back. There are plenty of bars and restaurants but I will stress that the big fancy ones aren't always the best apart from Vaca Azul and El Callao. The small Tapas Bars are excellent value and the staff are very pleasant. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday without having to wonder round the shops then El Cotillo is the plays to go.

Car: not necessary

Special interest holidays:

The island offers fantastic water sport facilities including diving and surfing. In El Cotillo you can hire surfing equipment and bikes or take a trip bird watching to discover some of the islands rare species.


The apartment is near to 2 beaches. The white Saharan sandy beach on the lagoons and the extensive Surf beach. Both of these within walking distance.


Fuerteventura airport is only 40 mins away. Although not essential a hire car is recommended if you want to tour round the island but the local bus service is excellent. A regular bus service runs from the village to Corralejo and Puerte del Rosario (the Capital).

Car Hire - we can recommend a very good car hire that will meet you at the Airport from 145 euros if you prefer we can arrange this for you. (Directions will be forwarded once you have booked) Or we can arrange a lift.


The Island is approx 100km long and 20km wide. Corralejo which is approx 20km away. This town has a multitude of shops, restaurants, WaterPark and lots of entertainment. You can also catch the ferry from here to Lanzerote. Caleta de Fuste is also a very popular tourist resort and this will take about 45 mins by car to get to. And a must to visit is the lovely capital of the island Puerto del Rosario which is just before the airport.

Further Details:

El Cotillo has good restaurants and bars and a few supermarkets. There are some shops but not lots as this is still a small fishing village. There is a very good child’s play park and can be found as you head through the village towards the lagoons.
