Fully equipped kitchen, floodlit swimming pool and bikes for you to pedal off on mini adventures. In the heart of the Bordeaux wine region between Bergerac and the silver beaches of the Atlantic coast, you will find lots of things to do. Canoeing and fishing on the Dordogne, jet skis, lovely vineyard walks, fabulous shopping in Bordeaux, history and a wealth of wine in picturesque Saint Emilion and great family run restaurants where you can sample the delicious local dishes of duck, steak and fabulous fresh seafood. About Luigi

My wife Gail and I had idyllic holidays here as our children grew up, canoeing and fishing on the River Dordogne, spending lazy days on the beaches at Arcachon and basking in the warm summer evenings as tasty beef steaks grilled on the barbecue. We get a real thrill helping our guests get the best from their stay here in our corner of La Belle France. Whether it be arranging a visit to Chateau de la Riviere for a tour and tasting of their luscious wines, or organising a gentle paddle down the River Dordogne in a canoe. When our guests are happy we are happy.

Luigi purchased this cottage in 1988

Why Luigi chose Entre Deux Mers

We love wine and just feel happy being so close to the vineyards of Saint Emilion, but also our local wine which is less well known but goes down a treat.

But there isn't just the wine, there are great markets, days out on the fabulous beaches of the Atlantic, really quaint towns and villages to explore, and when we want the buzz of the city, we can be in cosmopolitan Bordeaux in less than an hour.

What makes this cottage unique

Our guests love the pool and garden which has exotic plants like palms and banana.

Though we are in a small hamlet, there is somewhere to see and explore for every day of the week and six good restaurants all within 10 minutes drive, including our local which is only 5 minutes walk.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks for your friendly welcome and the extra gestures of hospitality you have given us.

We have enjoyed the two weeks in your gite enormously. We have had a really relaxing time, the setting is beautiful and the gite really well equipped.

We had a fantastic holiday-thanks so much. Hope to do it again sometime in the future.

Little piece of paradise in South West France

  • 5 of 5

We would highly recommend this as a holiday destination to anyone who wants time to relax, unwind and explore the stunning countryside full of vineyards and spectacular chateaus. We spent a week in this beautiful cottage and had a wonderful time. The cottage is extremely comfortable, with big, airy rooms and all the amenities you could need. The large, private garden has comfortable seating areas and two lovely hammocks to relax in. Luigi and Gail were very welcoming and made us feel immediately at home; we were even greeted with a hamper of tasty essentials to get us started.

Great Area!

  • 4 of 5

Gail & Luigi couldn't do enough to make sure we had a great time.

Saint Emillion on our doorstep meant being able to make several short, early morning trips to beat the summer crowds.

The river on our doorstep meant lots of cycling, river-side picnics, and a canoe trip down the Dordogne!

Wonderful place for totally chilled out holiday.

  • 5 of 5

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at Olive Tree and fully intend to go back next year. Rural location but close enough to local facilities to enable shopping etc. Luigi and Gail are a lovely couple who make you feel at home and provide a wonderful place to stay. We park up the Motorbike and use the Bicycles (provided FOC) to get around when we can be bothered! Would certainly recommend to anyone who wants a relaxing holiday but there is stuff to do if you want it.

The addition of the pool for use of Cottage and Barn this year was an added bonus.

Charming, peaceful cottage with pool

  • 5 of 5

Our cottage was spotless, comfortably furnished and well equipped in the kitchen. A nice touch from our hosts was a welcome pack full of goodies with a bottle of wine. The location was perfect for us because we wanted to visit the wine growing regions near St. Emillon. Beautiful Chateaus nearby for some wine tasting, exploring Bergerac and Bordeaux. Our favourite restaurant was L'Ardois where Luigi helped us to arrange for a taxi.We can recommend this lovely cottage and the owners always at hand if needed for any help.

Special interest holidays:

We would be delighted to make appointments for you to visit a chateau. Our favourite is Chateau de la Riviere, a true fairytale castle with wondrous cellars that stretch for miles under the chateau and vineyards, or the splendid Saint Emilion estate at Chateau Fonplegade where you get taken round the vineyard in a very cool 4 wheel drive buggy.

Waterparks with sandy beaches, pedaloes, jet skis, cafes and restaurants are becoming more popular in our area. Our favourite at Lac de Cadie is only 5 mins away by car.

90 mins in the car will get you to the endless silver beaches of the Atlantic coast, the mighty Dune de Pyla, Europe's highest, and the delightful bay of Arcachon.

Bordeaux airport 60 mins, Bergerac airport 35 mins. Saint Malo 449km, Le Havre 558km and Calais 772km.

A car is helpful, but some guests have used our bikes as an alternative.

Car hire available at both airports.

Fly with Easyjet, Ryanair, Flybe & British Airways. Flights available from Belfast, Bristol, Liverpool, Luton, Gatwick, E Midlands, Edinburgh, Stansted, Birmingham, Exeter & Southampton. Check schedules for your nearest airport.

Village of Flaujagues with shop, restaurant, bar & post office 5 mins walk.

Castillon La Bataille with banks, pharmacy, street market, supermarkets, 10 mins drive. Saint Emilion, 15 mins drive. Bordeaux, 40 mins drive. Bergerac, 30 mins drive. Atlantic beaches, 90 mins by car. Wedding venues at Chateau Rigaud & Chateau Soulac only 5 minutes, Mouliets et Villemartin 5 mins, Juillac 5 mins.

Further Details:

Flaujagues has shop, bar and restaurant 'a La Ronde' and is only 5 mins walk. Castillon La Bataille, famous for its battle which ended the Hundred Years War in 1453 is 10 mins by car and has a typically French street market, good food shops, banks, pharmacy, doctors, several supermarkets and good restaurants. Saint Emilion is a truly stunning medieval village. You will love its narrow cobbled streets, towers, churches and superb range of wine shops, as well as some great places to eat. Bordeaux has a brilliant new tramway system which makes it a must for shopping, art galleries, museums, great architecture and exciting riverside summer festivals.

Bergerac is always worth a visit. For a little activity you can use our small fleet of bikes around the quiet country lanes, fish on the River Dordogne, or hire canoes for a gentle paddle downstream. Stroll or cycle around the beautiful lake at Lac de la Cadie or follow the Pierre Loti vineyard walk.
