About Val Callow

Myself and Ron, my husband, live in Cheshire, UK. We are both retired from full time work although we still do a bit of part time. We go out to the house at least 3 times a year and so we consider it to be our second home, literally. We have therefore furnished it to our own standard and expect anyone who uses it to look after it as we do.

Why Val Callow chose Paphos & Suburbs

We bought our house in Cyprus in 2006. We bought in Cyprus because we love the country and the people. They are so friendly and of course it helps that they drive on the same side of the road as we do. We love the village of Mandria as for us it has all we need for a relaxing break.

What makes this house unique

The house is a town house on a small complex in Mandria, Paphos, just 5 mins from Paphos airport. There is a lovely pool on site, just across the road from us. The house is fully equipped with everything you should need for your holiday from good quality furniture to a juicer for those lazy breakfasts on the patio with your fresh orange juice. The village of Mandria has a number of eateries and 2 supermarkets so you can either eat in or out. The beach is 15 mins flat walk from the house and is totally unspoilt. The B6 runs just outside of the village and gives excellent access to many historic and picturesque sites in Cyprus, including the Troodos mountains, Nicosia, Limassol, etc.

  • Description of sleeping capacity: Sleeps 5 (2 Bedrooms) Notes on bedrooms: Master bedroom with a kingsize bed and balcony with sea view. Bedroom 2 has 2 full-size twin beds and ample space for a fold-up bed (provided). Both bedrooms have floor to ceiling fitted wardrobes and are air conditioned.

Notes on accommodation: The property has air-conditioning throughout. Windows & Patio Doors are fitted with fly-screens which allow cool air to circulate without insects getting in. Windows have venetian blinds, patio doors have vertical blinds. It is ideal family accommodation with plenty of space. This is a non-smoking home and no pets. Wi fi is installed and can be accessed via the password supplied. Outside: The front patio is fully tiled with a large table and four chairs. There are sunloungers for use at the pool or on the patio. At the rear of the property there is a driveway for one car. Utility Room: There is a utility area on the upper floor which has a washing machine and storage area for towels as well as powders, toilet rolls etc. A steam iron and ironing board are also provided. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen and towels are provided. Pool towels are provided. Linen Change weekly. All damage and breakages should be reported to the owner or the local contact. Other: An ipod docking station is provided for your use in the living room. Sunbeds are provided but please return them to the house each day after use. Air conditioning is provided in both bedrooms and the living/dining area.

Comfortable house in peaceful setting

My husband and I came here for a week last year. House is very bright, clean and comfortable and has everything you could possibly need - microwave, washing machine, wi-fi, air con etc. House was also very well stocked with essentials which is a real bonus - nothing I hate more than having to buy things like salt and pepper and dishclothes for a 7 night stay.! 30 second stroll to the pool which was very quiet when we were there - almost like having your own pool.

15 minute flat walk to the nearby village of Mandria which has some great restaurants and a handy shop. We hired a car for the week and it was the perfect base to explore further afield.

Lovely week . Will definitely be back.

Mandria is very close to Paphos airport but due to flight times we opted for Larnaca, which took a couple of hours but was a straightforward drive. The village itself is conveniently located to visit a wide range of beaches. A trip to the mountains is a pleasant day out and the water park a short drive away. There are restaurants only a short walk from the house all serving good quality food with take away being an option. The house is spacious and well equipped situated a short walk from the pool.

The local beaches of Mandria are completely unspoilt. It is a leisurely 15 minute walk to the coast through lovely agricultural land or they can be accessed by car. The beaches are mainly shingle with some sandy coves. Snorkelling and watersports are offered in the area. There is a beach bar which opens during the summer months. There are also a number of other local beaches in the area, all of which are generally flat and easily accessible.


The property is 4 km from Paphos Airport making it a quick and easy car drive. Car hire is not essential in Mandria as you have 2 supermarkets, a bank, 2 tavernas, a Restaurant,a Bistro & a new Bar in the village. However, we would recommend hiring a car if you want to visit the many historic sights & beaches of Cyprus.


The local village is 5 minutes walk from the property whilst the bustling tourist area of Paphos and Kato Paphos are only 8 km away on good roads or the nearby motorway. The villages of Timi and Platres are also close by and Limassol is a 40 minute drive from Mandria. Coral Bay is a 30 minute drive whilst Nicosia is 2 hours away. The Troodos Mountains are a leisurely 45 minute drive and are a must for any visitor.

Further Details:

Mandria Village has two tavernas, a restaurant, an excellent fish and chip shop, cypriot restaurant and a Bar. It has two well stocked supermarkets. The tavernas have good food if not extensive menus and all are reasonably priced. The Restaurant has an excellent menu of local & european food. The area is excellent for walking, hiking, cycling and watersports. The local bay is good for snorkeling whilst Paphos has a host of scuba diving clubs who will gladly cater for inexperienced and experienced divers alike.

Birdwatchers and nature lovers will find the area a rewarding experience, there are many nature trails on the island. Wine lovers may wish to visit some of the many wineries.
