About James Shenton
Married with 3 children children living in Kent. We have been running Kingfisher Cottage a highly successful holiday home business since buying it in May 2007. During this time the cottage has been extensively refurbished and we also enjoy our holidays at Kingfisher Cottage.
James Shenton purchased this Barn in 2007
Why James Shenton chose Kingsbridge
We bought Kingfisher Cottage after visiting the South Hams area many times as we realised that it was the ideal place to have a holiday home with excellent beaches, pubs and estuary towns (Kingsbridge, Dartmouth, Salcombe) combined with a host of activities and sports for all ages. The area also offers a fine range of local produce to cook in or sample in the local pubs. We specifically bought Kingfisher Cottage as it is a spacious character barn conversion which is located in a beautiful location next to a spring fed duck pond. The cottage is close to all the attractions and award winning beaches, but is in a peaceful location and has plenty of parking.
What makes this Barn unique
Kingfisher Cottage is a spacious barn Conversion which is set in a Area of Natural Beauty and is ideally situated in the South Hams centrally between Dartmouth and Salcombe and close to Kingsbridge. The cottage offers luxury accommodation and benefits from Free WI-FI / Broadband, incoming phone line, 32 Inch Sony LCD TV, Blue Ray Player with DVD Library, iPod / iPhone HIFI. Kingfisher Cottage also has its own great tasting filtered spring water supply so no need for bottled water. The rental prices also include linen, towels, electricity, heating.

Superb, comfortable and homely cottage in a lovely location
A delightful cottage that had everything we needed for a fantastic weeks stay. Very comfortable beds and furniture and a delightful log fire in the lovely spacious lounge area. A superb and large kitchen dining area too with a good selection of items. Plenty of books, DVD's, games etc.., available if you needed to stay home or to relax in the evening. We stayed in November and it was so peaceful and quiet and a lovely spot for several lovely walks. Highly recommend.
Plenty of room for 6, nice large kitchen and living area, bedrooms very comfortable. Beds and bedding nice. It was cold when we stayed but with wood burner able to make nice and warm.
Would stay again, Thanks
A Well-appointed and Exceptionally Roomy Cottage
At our very 1st contact with James (the Owner), we were provided with all the information we required in order to make an immediate and firm decision to enjoy our stay at 'Kingfisher Cottage'.
It was important for us to enjoy a peaceful holiday both day and night.
Well, ........ peaceful it certainly was and in a lovely setting too.
We have stayed in many Cottages/Gites in the UK and France on a regular yearly basis and 'Kingfisher Cottage' is up with the best of them all!!!
We visited beautiful places and naturally we ate at several good 'eateries'.
P.S. A favourite one we found was a Pub called 'The Floating Bridge' in Dartmouth, (close to the local 'Higher Ferry').
The menu listing was varied and the superb quality of the Fish & Chips was to 'die for' especially as we were offered a Small, Medium or Large portion (at exceptional associated costs).
It's definitely worth considering!!!

Wonderful cottage in the countryside.
We enjoyed a 5 night stay at Kingfisher cottage. The cottage was just as described. It has everything you could possibly need and more. Very well decorated throughout, with comfy furnishings. The owner was very helpful throughout my booking. The cottage was a bit more remote than I had imagined, but if your looking for a quiet getaway surrounded by the beautiful countryside then I would happily recommend Kingfisher cottage.
A wonderful holiday in this beautiful cottage
