This modern luxury beachfront ground floor 2 bedroom apartment on beach (sleeps 4/6)is situated in an Austro-Hungarian building dating back to 1903. The sandy/gravel beach is only steps away. It is in a superb location - just 3 minutes walk to restaurants, shops and the Ploce Gate into the old City of Dubrovnik - and just 10 low steps at the front door. The oceanfront apartment provides superb views of Lokrum Island, the Adriatic and the old city of Dubrovnik. The new bathroom, kitchen and bedrooms have been completely updated and has two air-conditioning units, a very complete chefs kitchen, a new washer/dryer and flat screen TVs with DVD/CD players in the bedrooms. The living room has a flat-screen HDTV, a DVD player, Cable TV, wireless internet. The apartment is easy to reach with public parking outside the door.

Why Chris and Joan Davies chose Dubrovnik area

We found the beach-front 1903 Austro-Hungarian building 12 years ago and were immediately taken by its location – on the beach, near the old town, and with great views of Lokrum Island and the old City of Dubrovnik.

Chris fell in love with the beautiful city of Dubrovnik as a child when he visited on holiday. When married, he and Joan visited and decided that this was a place they wanted to spend time together. After initially looking inside the Old Town at apartments with many stairs, they eventually decided on this beachfront ground-floor 1903 Austro-Hungarian Empire era apartment. Since the 2 year renovation, the apartment has become a second home to Chris, Joan and their many guests.

What makes this apartment unique

The location of an apartment in Dubrovnik is critical – we are situated in an old Austro-Hungarian building in one of Dubrovnik's most desired neighbourhoods, on the most beautiful beach in Dubrovnik, and close to the old town. The benefit is that you have no long walks in the evening or hundreds of stairs to negotiate, making it very flexible when planning your day.

Once it was remodelled into a luxury apartment with modern amenities, it became a firm favourite with all of our guests. This is a great location - the best in Dubrovnik.

My girlfriends and I take an annual break in Europe and booked the apartment when we decided to visit Dubrovnik. It's absolutely perfect for anyone looking to be close to the Old Town but also close to the beach. Banje Beach is literally across the road and down a flight of steps (there are a lot of them and they are quite steep but not a problem for anyone able bodied) so we spent some time there pretty much every day. The apartment owner had thoughtfully provided lots of things like beach towels, hairdryers, shampoo, body lotion etc which would not always be the case with many holiday rental properties but made life so much easier when packing our suitcases to come. Incidentally we all thought the beds were very comfortable and the air conditioning was quiet and effective. The wifi worked quickly and the kitchen was very well equipped though we only used it ourselves for breakfast and the odd light lunch..As it's under a 5 minute walk to get into the Old Town from the apartment we walked there every evening and had some great meals at Azur and Taj Mahal (which ironically serves Bosnian not Indian cuisine) and also visited a nice, atmospheric bar just outside the walls (accessed through a side door). As the old port is also very close to the Ploce Gate which is where you enter the walled city from the direction of the apartment it's very quick and easy to book a boat trip or two. We visited Cavtat which is a very attractive coastal town about 45 minutes away. I would certainly recommend a visit here - there's a very attractive walk round the peninsula with plenty of opportunities to stop and hire a sunbed, have a massage or just bathe and it's all a bit cheaper and quieter than Dubrovnik itself.



Chris, the owner of the apartment, could not have been more helpful and thanks also to Goga who arranged our transfers very efficiently and was both knowledgeable and friendly.



If you're looking for a great apartment as a base for a visit to Dubrovnik I honestly don't think you'll find a better one than this!

Notes on accommodation: This modern luxury apartment been completely renovated and has full air-conditioning, heating, double glazed windows and shutters for privacy. Flooring is modern tile, hardwood and afghan rugs. Airport transfers can be arranged and welcome package of groceries provided. The apartment is well suited to children due to the location close to the beach and old town and also comes complete with a baby crib, baby blankets, a high chair and complete washing and cooking facilities. The kitchen is stocked with coffee, tea, sugar and numerous frequently used cooking items. We trust this helps make your stay with us even more enjoyable. Outside: The entrance to Dubrovnik's best beach (Banje) is opposite the apartment and has a beach club with food, drinks, beach chairs, umbrellas and cabanas. This great location and easy ground floor access has proven to be a great plus. Apart from the beach, there are 3 restaurants, cafes, car rental, grocery store, Dubrovnik Art Gallery, folk center, gallery within a 100-200m, so no reason to rent a car or walk far. Also within 300m of the apartment: more restaurants including a beach restaurant, a bakery. 2 grocery/convenience stores with bakeries and an ATM. Cultural centre folklore (national dance Monday and Friday at least in season). Car hire, art studios and a Taxi rank. Ploce gate to the old city walls and of course all the restaurants in the old town are pretty close by anyway. Utility Room: Safe provided. There is an iron and ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linens are included and are changed weekly when the property is cleaned (or on change of guests). We also provide beach towels. Let us know if you have any special requests. A free interim clean is also provided on stays longer than 9 nights Other: There are three large central air-conditioning units that heat and cool the apartment. Together with wooden shutters and the 3-4 foot thick walls dating to 1903, the apartment stays cool in summer and warm in winter.

Wonderful Apartment in Dubrovnik

The apartment was in a historic building with all modern conveniences. Comfortable and clean and felt homely. Good customer service and arranged our transfers from the airport to the apartment and via a versa. The location was great only a few minutes walk to old Dubrovnik which was just what we wanted. The beach was just opposite the apartment and if you want to spend time on the beach you could not have a better location. Old Dubrovnik is lovely lots of restaurants and very clean most of the main streets easily walkable but the on the side streets there are quite steep steps so if someone has mobility problems then this would be an issue . We found the people friendly and would recommend visiting Dubrovnik and if you are looking for a comfortable apartment would definately recommend.

A beautifully appointed apartment in a perfect location.

We were very happy with the apartment and it's location. We were a family of three, but comfortable enough for four. We ate a couple meals in as we were out all day and like feeling like we can put our feet up and relax. The kitchen had everything we needed. The view is spectacular 24 hours a day. The management is responsive and very helpful, even providing a mobile phone and contact information. It is less than a five minute walk to the Walled City with two small groceries very close by. It was the small things that stood out for us like the hand soap, plenty of towels, the cleanliness, the wonderful shower and yes, the nice smell of the apartment. I can easily see spending a couple of weeks at this property. I would highly recommend this property and Dubrovnik. April is a perfect time with the pleasant temperatures and tourism just kicking off. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Wonderful location

The apartment overlooks Banje Beach and has a perfect view of the old harbour of Dubrovnik. It is stunning. The apartment is very comfortable with great air-con. Iron & ironing board,hairdryer all in flat. If there was a problem phone left to contact local manager but no need. Loved the apartment & Dubrovik - would definitely recommend!!

Lovely apartment just a short walk to the old town

The apartment was very comfortable, and just a short walk to the Old Town. We were pleased we had chosen this location - nice to be facing the sea, and to escape the busy Old Town in the evening. So many lovely restaurants too, and the Croatians were so friendly and helpful, especially Goga - what a star! And what an excellent idea to leave us a mobile so we could get hold of her at any time. Definitely would recommend this holiday!

Outstanding apartment

The apartment is in a lovely, period building overlooking Lokrum Island and Banje beach. The Old Town is only a short walk away.Inside, everything is immaculate and very tasteful. The lounge is comfortable and stylish. The kitchen is fully equipped and the bathroom is spacious and even provides all your toiletries.Both bedrooms are light and bright and have stunning views. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt so relaxed as it was like home from home. As it is so close to everything, it was easy to walk into the Old Town in the day or evening and also wonderful to have the beach just across the road. Through the owners, we booked up a walking tour of the Old Town with Tea Batinic, who was very informative and entertaining! and a day trip to Medjugorje in Bosnia with Braco who was an excellent driver and guide. We found the owners very helpful and professional throughout the booking process and everything went smoothly during our visit. Can't recommend Dubrovnik, this apartment and the owners, Chris and Joan, highly enough!

Coast/Beach:

This beachfront apartment is situated on Dubrovnik's best and most beautiful beach. Access to this sand and pebble beach is directly across the road - maybe 50 feet :)

The heart of historic Dubrovnik is 3-4 mins (350m) away along the beach front promenade and through the ancient city gates. Local small ferries provides transport to Lokrum Island opposite the apartment, or down the coast to Cavtat. Other ferries provide transport to a large group of islands to the North of Dubrovnik.

Travel:

Dubrovnik Airport is 18km (11 miles) from the city centre. We can arrange transfers for our guests to and from the airport. With the superb location of the apartment - proximity to the beach and the City of Dubrovnik- a car is not required. Many major Airlines including British Airways, Croatian, Austrian and many low cost operators (Jet2, EasyJet)operate flights into Dubrovnik's new airport. Buses are coordinated with incoming flights and meet all scheduled flights. Transfers can be arranged.

A deposit is required to confirm the reservation of 20% of the total rental (paid by credit card, cheque or bank transfer). We will confirm booking and receipt of payment by e-mail. Deposits are non-refundable. The balance is due 6 weeks before the start of the holiday. A refundable security/breakage deposit of 300 Euros is required. Cancellations: Within 6 weeks: 50% refund.
Within 4 weeks: no refund. Security deposit refunds will be made by same payment method as the original payment.

We are very flexible as we understand flights often only run on certain days and arrive and depart both early and late in the evening.
