About ROSS SINCLAIR
Lynda and I retired to Spain 11 years ago after selling our business. Our 2 sons 'flew the nest' some years ago so we felt it was our turn to relax and enjoy some better weather. My love of golf influenced the area we settled in and Lynda's love of painting was influenced by the vivid light and views in this area of Eastern Spain. We enjoyed the area so much that we purchased a villa on the hills overlooking the sea and village of Las Fuentes where we now live and have a penthouse apartment for renting (Owners Direct S7602).
ROSS SINCLAIR purchased this Apartment in 2007
Why ROSS SINCLAIR chose Alcalà de Xivert
Initially we bought an apartment on Panoramica Golf course where we lived for a while and then grew to love the area of Las Fuentes near Alcossebre where we bought a villa overlooking the sea with spectacular views We modernised the villa on the El Pinar hillside and finished the penthouse apartment which we have rented out for the last 12 years.
What makes this Apartment unique
The El Pinar penthouse is superbly furnished to a high standard and all visitors are amazed by the spectacular views from the property which looks south over the village and sea. The property is on it's own with one other villa 200 meters away so it is peaceful and yet with access by road to the village and town only 5 minutes away with many restaurants, bars and wonderful beaches. There are 2 golf courses within 45 minutes of the area and now a 6 rink outdoor bowls club. Castellon airport newly opened in September 2015 and is only be 20 minutes away from Alcossebre.

It was a beautifully rental and friendly hosts who were very helpful
Home from home. Comfortable with wonderful coastline views. Would recommend and already have informed friends and family. Alcossebre is unspoilt with no ugly high risers or hundreds of trinket shops. If you want a relaxed holiday with sandy coves and warm shallow sea then this area is the place to head for.
Thank you both for your great review. It was a pleasure to meet you both and enjoyed our evening together. We hope to see you again in the future
The Owners (Ross &Linda) were simply brilliant and little details really made the Holliday for us. The villa is brilliantly equipped, the view just WOW and the pool for our 5 year old was perfect. Five minutes to a variety of beaches and restaurants. The one up the rd was lovely but recommend you book in peak season. Thanks again Ross and Linda
Thanks Ollie for your wonderful review, it means a lot to us. It was a pleasure to welcome you here and we enjoyed our get togethers. All the best for the future
Lovely apartment in stunning location
The apartment is extremely well equipped and provides everything necessary for a first rate self catering holiday. The views from the terraces are breathtaking and the surrounding coastline and countryside beautiful . Ross and Linda are very welcoming and the perfect hosts.
Quiet, charming and AMAZING views
All of the reviews and the write up are exactly as stated. The roads are a little crazy driving up. Narrow and winding. The only amenity is the restaurant El Pinar which was really good. You definitely need a car to get around. We went in late May and the town was very quiet. The accommodations were fantastic, but as others said , and we were prepared there are a lot of steps to the suite. Great workout and worth it for the views!!!
Ross and Linda were very welcoming and pleasant. Thank you both for providing such a great place for our honeymoon and the little bit of groceries to get us started.
Thank you for your comments which we appreciate. It was great to meet you both and delighted you chose our villa for your honeymoon. We hope you enjoyed your visit to Barcelona and have a good trip back to Edmonton. All the best.
A great find.......
This place is amazing - we feel so lucky to have come across it! We love Alcossebre and have been visiting there every year for the last 8 years. The apartment we used was recently sold hence how we found this gem ....... up in the mountain so away from everything with stunning views but with the beach, bars and town just a few minutes drive away. Perfect. The villa is spotless, beautifully furnished and well presented. 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen and lounge area. The balcony is gorgeous. Wonderful to sit on and look at the stunning views of alcossebre. We spent a lot of our afternoons on there. There is also a patio area which is a real sun trap with sun beds and a table and chairs. There is also a swimming pool which is a lovely area and also spotless but quite small.
You would definitely need a car to stay here but trust me it’s totally worth it. And there are 55 steps up the villa but they are not impossible - just a little hard work in the heat so I thought I should mention them! I was actually quite toned when I went home! :)
The only downside of the villa is the fact that word will spread and we will struggle to get booked in there - our week next October is already booked. Enjoy.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments and we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us at the end of the season. Certainly the weather was great during your stay and you even braved the pool at the end of October. We look forward to seeing you here again next year. All the best for the future,
Ross & Lynda
A wonderful place for a fantastically fun, interesting and relaxed holiday
Absolutely fantastic place. We (parents, two teenage daughters) had a wonderfully fun and relaxing holiday. The location and set up of the apartment give wonderful views down the pine-covered hillside to the coast and out across the sea, which you get as soon as you wake up (in the double bedroom), from the main room and from the open balcony where we had meals. The pool and terrace are also fantastic. We also really enjoyed the bigger communal pool (just beyond El Pinar restaurant) - I think that's only open July and August (?) It was a pretty constant 30-32 degrees and sunshine for us (second half of August) but if you open the windows and doors there's a lovely breeze. A bit warm at night but the fans in the rooms helped a lot (though the fan in the twin room could do with replacing). We enjoyed walking down the hill to the lovely little beach at Las Fuentes, and around and up the hill to hermitage. Everything from rent-a- pedalo beaches to quiet, good for snorkeling beaches to walking through unspoilt hills available within easy drives. We also enjoyed trips to Peniscola (nice castle in particular) and Vinaros (big town beaches + nice hermitage a bit inland), and particularly Morella (hour and a half inland, but very much worth it). But mostly, a whole lot of relaxed mooching around and la dolce fa niente (sorry, don't know the Spanish for that!). All seems like a dream now. Fabulous place.
We both thank you for your wonderful comments on your stay here at El Pinar. It is so nice to know you enjoyed the villa and pool and also the area and your comments are so helpful to future guests. Once again, thank you.
El Pinar is in an ideal geographical location for lovers of the sea, with breathtaking views of the many local ‘blue flag’ beaches from the apartment, with the nearest just 5 minutes drive away in Las Fuentes and Alcossebre, where you can enjoy over 300 days of sun each year with an average temperature of 26 degrees in summer and 18 degrees in winter. Otherwise explore the coastline for more remote beaches or head to other nearby popular beaches of Peniscola, Vinaros and Benacassim.
NEW FROM SEPTEMBER 2015 - RYANAIR FLY TO NEW AIRPORT AT CASTELLON. This airport is only 20 minutes from Alcossebre with flights to Stansted and Bristol. Reus airport is approximately 90 minutes north via the AP7 Motorway. Barcelona airport (which has excellent international airline connections) is around 2 1/2 hours drive. Car hire is essential. Valencia is 90 minutes south.
Las Fuentes 5 minutes. Alcossebre 8 minutes. Oropesa 15 minutes. Benacassim 25 minutes. Peniscola 25 minutes. Benicarlo/Vinaros 30 minutes. Castellon 35 minutes. Morella - 80 minutes. Valencia 1hr 30 minutes. Barcelona 2 1/2hrs. Reus 1hr 30minutes. Universal Theme Park (Salou) 1hr 30minutes.
A very short distance from the apartment is 'El Pinar' restaurant, a superb restaurant and cuisine with wonderful views, considered the best in the area. In the town Las Fuentes and Alcossebre have many fine restaurants - fabulous food at the 'Antonios, on the beach is the Michelin recommended 'Can Roig'.
Vinaros is the local fishing port town, bringing in fresh fish every day with King Prawns a local speciality. There is a fantastic market in next to the seafront in Vinaros where you can purchase fresh fish, fruit and vegetables and is colourful with a wonderful atmosphere. Restaurants and bars are all along the seafront with excellent shopping in the town centre and plenty of large supermarkets on the road to the golf course.
Benicarlo (next to Vinaros) is also a seafaring town with the Nautical Resort providing a great variety of watersports –including canoeing, sailing, snorkling, diving and water skiing.
Morella is the medieval capital city of the region El Ports and is an interesting ancient walled town high in the mountains (approx 80 mins drive).
Ulldecona reservoir is an area of great natural beauty, ideal for hill walking and bird watching along with cave paintings at Polvori Cave.
Barcelona city is 2 hours by car (Valencia is 1 1/4 hours)or both are easily accessible by train from Benicarlo. Both are fantastic cities that must be visited during your stay.
A few kilometers along the coast is Peniscola old Medieval town with walls and fortifications surrounding the white washed houses and Peniscola Castle that housed the controversial 15th century Pope Benedict XIII. Peniscola has 7 kilometres of beautiful beaches with a lively atmosphere and many night spots. It also hosts the Classical Music Season and International Comedy Festival each year.
Columbretes Islands can be visited by a sea trip. These volcanic islands are a protected nature reserve but organised visits are available.
