'La Vista Grande' is a large beautiful two bedroom air conditioned apartment situated within a small collection of renovated 16th Century farm buildings converted into luxury houses and apartments. 'La Vista Grande' has been sympathetically restored and now offers a high standard of accommodation, including free Wi-Fi, whilst retaining lovely features such as vaulted ceilings with chestnut beams and terracotta tiled floors throughout. Outside you have your own private veranda and garden with terrace, the vine covered gazebo gives shade from the Tuscan sun and the garden has uninterrupted stunning 360 degree views of the Tuscan countryside. The shared pool is 7x14m and there is also a large covered gazebo and sun loungers. The medieval hill towns of Volterra & San Gimignano are both 20 minutes by car and are perfect for sightseeing. Our guests tell us that they have had wonderful holidays here, the comments in our guestbook are testament to this and many come back every year. We had a fantastic time and we've all said it was the most relaxing break we've had in a long time.
Back at work now and very jealous you're going there on Sunday !!
We can't recommend you're apartment and location enough - hope to return in the not to distant future.
First rate communication from enquiry through to booking and providing of travel instructions, apartment information, suggestions on local restaurants, supermarkets etc etc was a decent clue that the property itself would be of a high standard and we were not disappointed.
The apartment is spotlessly clean, of high quality furnishings, especially the beds which, as per other reviews, are super comfy, not very common in Italy in our experience. The living area is well proportioned, comfortable and homely. It seems like everything is catered for, a good selection of pots, pans, utensils, books, guides, extra pillows etc etc and for the very first time in a dozen places in Italy...an oven glove...why does nowhere else have one!!!
Outside is a large pergola with barbecue and garden and wonderful views for eating on an evening.
Air-conditioning in the evening is extremely effective and very welcome in the Tuscan summer.
The pool is of a very high quality with great loungers (note: no "shallow end" so very good for a decent swim) and further wonderful views.
We've stayed in many places over the years that we have enjoyed but might not have been 100% confident of unreservedly recommending to a friend. This is one of only 2 or 3 places in 10 years of travel to Italy that we'd have no hesitation in recommending.
This property exceeded our expectations - on arrival we fully understood why the property was named La Vista Grande - every window has a stunning view over the Tuscan Hills.
We found the property comfortable and well equipped.
Dinner on the terrace, at the end of the day, with a cold beer or glass of wine overlooking the hills with the town in the distance made us feel we had arrived in heaven.
The location is excellent for visiting Tuscan highlights of Pisa, Lucca, Volterra, Sienna. San Gimignano is within easy reach and one of the nicest places we have visited. Florence would have been easy too, but we had two weeks with plenty of chill out time on our agenda and so didn't make its this time, and opted to spend every other day at the pool which we found very enjoyable.
Many of the other apartments are occupied by owners who were helpful, welcoming and informative, providing supplementary information to that provided by Mike.
Mike's directions were excellent, we found the property with ease. He also provided plenty of information, was helpful and very prompt in responding to questions etc..
Thanks for letting us have access to La Vista Grande and enabling us to have a fabulous holiday.
I am sure we will visit again in the future
Very well maintained property with comprehensive directions supplied. Lovely location looking towards San Gimignano. Air conditioned too and a lovely pool to cool down in.
Went there for our silver wedding anniversary and it was well positioned to access Siena, Florence and other villages nearby.
The apartment is set in unrivaled Tuscan countryside, offering spectacular views across rolling fields with the towers of San Gimignano gracing the horizon. Fully equipped, the apartment is decorated with impeccable taste - beamed ceilings and thick stone walls inside and an airy terrace in the garden outside allowed us to soak up the real Tuscany, of course while sampling some of the region's lovely wines.
The apartment is perfectly located - away from the hustle and bustle and yet within a stone's throw from San Gimignano, Volterra and about one hour's drive from Pisa and Florence.
I strongly recommend this place as being the perfect holiday location.
Excellent apartment with everything you need to make your stay memorable. Immaculate and facilities as described.
Mike has thought of most things, directions and information about La Vista Grande were outstanding.
Lovely pool area with very comfortable loungers.
Would thoroughly recommend it.
Easy access to San Gimnignano, Siena, Volterra etc. Don't miss the old town of Certaldo - Certaldo Alto, a real gem.
Plenty of space to sit out in the beautiful gardens, rooms with views.
We even got used to the Tuscan white road to access the property!
The views from the apartment are absolutely stunning. The apartment itself is situated in a remote location within a number of very nicely renovated farm buildings. We were only 2 people and found the space ok but we are sure 4 people would find it a little cramped in terms of the actual living space although the bedrooms were fine and the bed we used was very comfortable.
The central location was perfect for visiting Siena, Volterra, Florence, Pisa and Lucca - all of them definitely worth a visit.
The only downside we experienced was a long (over 1km) and very slow (5mph) journey along a farm-track littered with massive potholes along the entire length from the main road to the property.
The owner was excellent with communication, directions etc. and told us that the road was due for its "annual service". I think we were probably unlucky in that we did have a couple of pretty hefty thunderstorms which definitely did not help the condition of the road afterwards.
Our apartment is located along a 3km white road lined with mediterranean shrub and olive trees.
