The village is very pretty and a touch of authentic Portugal.
We are Karen and Colin with two sons 22 and 25.We live in Staffordshire, England.
We love the Silver Coast area of Portugal as it's real authentic old fashioned Portugal, with a local friendly safe environment.Surrounded by vineyards selling local delicious wines. Our sons love holidays at the house especially the pool, our table tennis table, the karting track at Bombarral, and the beaches.
Colin Rawles purchased this villa in 2007
We love this region of Portugal. The Silver Coast combines great beaches with good surfing, interesting towns and historical sites, many wineries producing excellent wines and restaurants offering great food. Essentially it ticked all the boxes. Having visited the Algarve many times. We decided we preferred the Silver Coast and began a hunt for our property. We wanted a peaceful, attractive location close enough to the major attractions.
Too often holidaymakers return from holiday only discovering the best a location has to offer when they are about to leave. We have gone to a lot of trouble to make sure our guests are well informed about the best restaurants, beaches, beautiful places to visit together with directions to make the whole experience enjoyable and stress free.We now offer a SAT NAV service, so that you can find the house with ease from the airport, choose from a variety of restaurants, supermarkets, places of interest and beaches!
'We really enjoyed our time at the villa... you are very lucky to own such a fabulous place. We eat at Mae D'Agua on the Thursday and the food was excellent, really well presented and tasty. The selection of starters they put on the table was superb. We had a bottle of wine from the vineyard across the road and the whole lot came to around 60 euros, so really good value. We had a look at a couple of other properties we had also considered (one in Praia D'el Rey and the other in Foz D'Arello). We are so glad we chose yours because the area is so beautiful and quiet. Looking forward to a return visit some time in the future.' Best Wishes Richard & Jane
'Just to say, thank you for the use of your lovely home in Portugal. It was beautiful, we really appreciated all the finishing touches, the local info and your support before we went were first-class. We didnt do that much sight-seeing, but loved Obidos & Sintra and of course the beaches were amazing.' Best Wishes Paul & Julia
We are a group of 3 couples who go for an Autumn break every year, we're past the beach bum stage and are looking for interesting things to see and visit with the bonus of a little bit of sun. This year we hit gold!
A spacious well equipped home with a high quality feel on the edge of the village, a big plus because it's within walking distance of a bar and restaurants.
The rooms are enormous with very comfortable beds and plenty of cupboard space for belongings.
The lounge is a relaxing space with sofas and a large TV, there are also games, books and DVD's if you are looking for extra entertainment (plus some sort of game system in the garage).
There is a small terrace overlooking the surrounding countryside. A really nice place to share an aperitif in the evening.
The heated pool was a pleasure - not bath temperature but easy to slip into before breakfast and after a day of sightseeing.
We had a great week.
Communication with the owners was easy and straight forward, we borrowed their sat. nav which meant there was no problem in finding the villa or the local attractions. The house was clean and ready for our arrival, lots of little bits and pieces in the kitchen cupboards as well as the necessary basics of milk, bread, wine & coffee (marvellous coffee machine!)
The garage has lots of extra kit in it, ping pong table, exercise bike, beach umbrellas and lots of equipment for young families - we didn't use any of it but can imagine it would be very handy if you had children.
A week really wasn't long enough in this lovely home or to fully explore the surroundings - we were out and about every day and would have loved to spend more time 'at home' but just didn't have the time!
We would happily recommend this property to our friends and relatives.
The villa is perfectly located to experience both the splendor of historical sites such as Obidos, Lisbon and Sintra but also the more authentic 'real' Portugal of rolling green vineyards, small villages (with unique traditions) and friendly people. The villa itself has a lovely pool and great bedrooms decorated beautifully. You get the feeling the owners really want you to enjoy your holiday as they provide you with a wealth of great information on attractions, local restaurants, walks, etc. The villa is also well stocked including books, dvds, games, XBox, beach equipment, internet, amazing coffee machine, ironing board, almost everything! It is highly recommended to make the most of the lovely walks available around the villa and local area as it really is a gorgeous place. We particularly enjoyed Obidos town and Obidos lagoon which we went to a number of times. This villa is highly recommended, we thoroughly enjoyed it! (Stayed Sept 2016).
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely villa. It is very comfortable with large airy rooms. The views from the balcony are memorable. The pool is a welcome diversion for children and adults alike and was well used by those in our party. We also opted for heating which is recommended.
Despite speaking no Portuguese we found communication no problem and everyone we met was friendly and helpful. Bombarall has all the facilities needed for a holiday stay and the supermarkets are excellent. Obidos is a must see and the Buddha Eden garden also worth visiting. A bonus are the local wines are delicious and cheap.
We would certainly recommend the Silver Coast and this villa
First class. Beautiful villa, very generous proportions, containing everything you need and more. It was definitely as described. The pool was also a generous size for a private pool and we were glad that we paid the extra to have this heated. The views from the first floor balcony were lovely - a great place to sit and enjoy a drink in the evening! We visited all of the recommended places, including Obidos, which was lovely and we certainly enjoyed a few 'Ginjas' (dark chocolate cups filled with cherry liqueur). We visited Quinta dos Loridos (Buddha Eden) which was a lovely place to roam around. Our almost two year old Grandson loved the train. We purchased and enjoyed the locally produced Loridos wine which was also wonderful and reasonably priced! The giant Buddha can be seen from the balcony of the villa if you look out to the right and across the front of the neighbouring villa. We loved the beaches, the climate and the easy-going way of life. We dined at Dom Jose in Bombarral and Mae D'Agua. We preferred the food at Dom Jose and the proprietor had the table set ready for our grandson - highchair and brightly coloured plastic tablewear. Mae D'Aqua were also very welcoming, although I think I preferred the food at Dom Jose. However, Mae D'Aqua was very convenient and a lovely venue with some wonderful views.
We also visited the Mira Mar Restaurant in Penniche, across from the harbour. The restaurant was very busy and popular with local people at lunchtime and the monkfish medallions were delicious!
We certainly welcomed the very reasonably priced wines and all that we sampled were very good.
The owners are very helpful, providing very useful information and the Sat Nav was certainly appreciated, especially when driving from Lisbon to Carvahal on our arrival, which was very late in the evening.
We have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation and the area. Thank you!
Fabulous Villa with all essentials. In lovely spot with lots to do. (local Budda Eden and Obidos are must sees). Lovely to meet locals, all very friendly despite communication difficulties. Great climate and so plenty of use of pool. Landlord and housekeeper very obliging.
Would certainly be happy to recommend and reserve again!
This is the best villa we have stayed in. I have to say we have never had such great information from the owners. They really care about you having a great holiday. The whole villa was spotlessly clean. The area is lovely and although away from the hustle and bustle close to restaurants shops cafes bars etc. We visited Obidos , Buddha Eden , Lourinha and several beaches. All were easy travel distances. Great pool, lovely outlook from the balcony. It is a truly beautiful place. Thank you Colin and Karen.
