Chalet in Valais, Switzerland - 10 Minutes Walk from Les Masses/Chair Lift

This luxury 147m2 chalet was completed in December 2006 to an excellent standard with accommodation over 3 floors (basement, ground and first). It is finished and furnished to a high standard with oak floors, fully tiled bathrooms and a Poggenpohl luxury kitchen with granite worktops. Downstairs there is a utility room with washing and drying machines, boot dryers, a sauna and a shower. Outside there are two terrace areas (one very large), a private car park (for use by the upper 6 chalets) and a garage. From the outside balconies and terraces there are breathtaking views across to Val D’herens, and all the way along Val d’Heremence to the Grande Dixence dam. Although this is a very quiet location, it is within 10 minutes level walk of a shop, restaurant and chair lift. It is only 5 minutes drive from bars, restaurants and shops in Les Collons and Heremence. There is wonderful walking and mountain biking from the door and many other activities within a very short drive.

Coast/Beach:

The nearest beach is on the shores of Lac Leman (Lake Geneva) which is just over an hour by car, 82km, largely motorway. There are thermal baths at Ovronnaz, Leukerbad and Lavey, all within 45 minutes drive.

Travel:

Les Masses is approximately 1 hour 50 minutes from Geneva airport. This is an easy drive, with motorway all the way from the airport entrance to Sion, the nearest town, which is just 16 km from the chalet door. Driving from Calais takes around 9 hours.

Distances:

The nearest restaurant and supermarket are at Les Masses, 600m on foot or 1km by car. The traditional Swiss village of Heremence is 2 kms and the local resort of Les Collons is 4kms. The chalet is 15 kms from the historic valley town of Sion and is also a 15 minute drive to the Grande Dixence dam (the highest dam in Europe) and lake. There is a swimming pool at Thyon, 8km.

Further Details:

From the outside balconies and terraces there are breathtaking views across to Val D’herens, and all the way along Val d'Heremence to the Grande Dixence dam. Although this is a very quiet location, it is only a 10 minute level walk to a shop, restaurant and chair lift. It is only 5 minutes drive from bars, restaurants and shops in Les Collons and Heremence. There is wonderful walking and mountain biking from the door and many other activities within a very short drive. Activities include: Walking - a very wide range of walking is available for all ages and abilities – from meadows and pine forests, of which there are many in this area of Valais, to adventurous and spectacular hikes in the Alpes; Mountain biking - several of the ski lifts in the region are open during the summer season allowing bikers easy access to the mountains and many scenic tracks back down. For the more adventurous there is a fantastic 44km cycle trail, a day long trip which takes you to the top of one of the highest mountains in the Four Valleys region. Further afield. A day trip, by car or train from Sion, will easily take you to Zermatt (at the foot of the Matterhorn), Milan or the Italian lakes. Other activities include open air swimming pool in Sion, man-made lakes fed by the Rhone river with sandy beaches and water sports, golf in Sion, river rafting on the Rhone, thermal spas at Ovronnaz, Leukerbad and Lavey, paragliding at Evolene, fishing, horse riding (local stables in Vex), mountain biking (hire in Les Collons), Happyland, children's adventure park, the Adventure Forest - Vercorin, Parc-Aventure – Aigle, The Underground Lake at St Leonard - take a boat and explore this fascinating cave which takes you under the Alps.

Notes:
WiFi with good internet access. Good mobile coverage (mast about 500m away). Children are very welcome but the curved stairs are more suitable for those over 4 years. The chalet is non-smoking throughout and no pets are allowed. Sorry, no large single sex groups. Outside: There are two balconies and two paved terraces where you can sit and enjoy a barbecue, take in the magnificent views, or just soak up the sun. The upper terrace has a table, chairs, barbecue and sun awning. There is direct access to the kitchen and dining areas. The lower (very large) terrace is immediately outside the main entrance door and provides an excellent play area for children. Utility Room: Siemens washing machine and tumble dryer, utility sink, boot dryers for 8 pairs of boots, iron and ironing board, travel cot. WiFi system. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: A final cleaning charge of £195 is included in the Owners Direct quote. However, bed linen and towels are not included but can arranged directly with the agent (current price as at 2016 is CHF30 per person). All beds have single duvets (2 for double beds). Other: First floor play area equipped with satellite TV (English channels), DVD player and sofa. Full length picture window and French windows opening on to upper balcony. Sauna for up to 6 people with separate shower. Parking, a dedicated space and own garage.

What a fabulous chalet

What a beautiful place! We have never stayed anywhere so luxurious while ski-ing, so well appointed, well equipped, spacious and just lovely. The whole area was very beautiful and we had a fabulous holiday making full use of the ski area and loved coming back to our little haven in the evening. Total honesty from the owner of this chalet and actually think it is undersold it is so lovely. The path is genuinely flat and exactly the distance quoted to the chairlift, you can push along on your skis a good bit of it and the rest is an easy walk. The garage is so handy to keep the car snow free and it is such a quiet little area that you can quickly zoom up the hill in your car if you prefer not to walk or need some supplies. Can walk along the path to the shop too and they have lovely fresh bread and local cheese and essentials. Would love to come back in the summer and can't rate this chalet highly enough - would happily live there! There are a lot of button tows and T-bars which are not the best for snowboarders but given the huge ski area and how easily you can access the fab pistes of Verbier this is the only tiny downside you could find. Awesome place thanks for having us!

Stay tax $1.97 per night, per person. This amount will be due to the owner upon arrival. Does not apply to children under 6 years.

Booking Notes:
To enquire or book please contact us either by email or telephone. A 30% deposit is required on booking and the balance is due 8 weeks before the booking starts. Prices are for the chalet per week in GBP.
There is a small tourist charge (approx £1 per day per adult, 50p per child over 6) which must be paid on collection of keys from the local agency, Valet de Chalet. A security deposit will be taken via credit card at this time.
Changeover Day:
Saturday is changeover day. Please arrive between 15.00-18.00 at the chalet where the agent will meet you and handover keys and bedding & towels, if these have been booked. Check out and return keys by 09.00 on your departure day.
Additional Services:
The following services can be arranged directly with the the local agency, Valet de Chalet, these include:
- pre-stocking the fridge, shopping during your stay
- laundry for linen and clothes
- wood delivery
- delivery of meals prepared by “Le Café de la Poste” in Vex
- airport/railway transfers

30% is payable on booking, the remainder is due 8 weeks before arrival. Final arrival instructions will be sent once the balance payment has been received.
