Loft Apartment in Fondi, Nr. Sperlonga, Lazio, Italy - 6 Miles from Beautiful Beaches
- english, italian
My name is Michaela and I am English and have been living in Italy for about 30 years, I mainly live in Rome but in the summer I live in Fondi, I adore restoring old properties and making them into pleasant places which feel like home, with all the comforts but without ruining the natural character of the original location.
Maika purchased this Apartment in 2005
Why Maika chose City of Fondi
I love the area, because of the lovely coast towns that are very near especially Sperlonga which is beautiful but very expensive, and quite honestly Fondi especially the old historical section is so charming and has all the attractions of a real typical Italian town, surrounded by gentle hills with the convenience of a main station that takes you back to Rome and Naples in one hour and 15 mins.

Lovely Italian house great central location
We really loved staying here, we had a really warm welcome and Fondi is such a great place to explore. The pizza restaurant recommended to us just down to road was the best place we found for something to eat in the evening, but we also cooked some lovely meals with some great local ingredients in the kitchen which has everything you would need. There are some really nice beaches nearby and it's very easy to get to Rome or Naples, as well as plenty of other towns along the coast. The best part of the house has to be the roof terrace which is not overlooked at all but has spectacular views of the town over to the surrounding mountains. We have some great memories of our time here and hope to be back one day.
Lovely place to stay - very much in the heart of Fondi.
We had a very lovely time - with plenty of space for 4 adults. Trains to Rome and Naples were easy to get to and to use. The local people were very kind and hospitable - and very understanding when our basic Italian couldn't manage to work as fast as they spoke. Half and hour or so by car to some wonderful beaches.
It was very authentic and charming place that matched the centro storico area of Fondi.
The property had every convience needed to make one's vacation relaxing. We very much enjoyed the charming layout and the space which allowed for privacy and quiet when needed. We loved every minute of our stay and would stay again.
We chose the apartment because of the location half-way between Rome and Pompeii and not too far from the sea. We read the reviews - all good, and kept asking ourselves, "What's the catch?" as the price was very low compared to others in the area. Well, there was no catch. My family, two forty-somethings and an 11 year old boy simply loved the place. It was a pleasure to spend time there just relaxing. The apartment has the feel that Michaela really cares about her guests' experience. Everything we could wish for in a holiday let was provided - even free WiFi! The apartment was spotlessly clean throughout and felt light and airy. Linen and plenty of towels, including beach towels, were provided along with extra blankets should they be required. The thing that made this apartment the best holiday let we have stayed in though was the beds. We are both 6ft tall and for the first time in a holiday apartment we could sleep comfortably without our feet hanging over the end of the bed. The mattresses were comfortable and the duvet and pillows were feather down.
The location is great too - right in the heart of Fondi. Down the steps, which are steep but for us added to the feel of the place, and a few yards down the lane and you're in the largely pedestrianised shopping area. Fondi itself was lovely, as was the surrounding area. Getting to Rome was very easy and cheap by train, the station is about a mile away from the apartment. The local beach, Sperlonga, was around 6 miles away and lovely (we went just out of season). Pompeii was an easy car journey away, and the Caves of Pastena were well worth a visit if you have a car.
All the locals we met, including the Police when we asked for directions, were very friendly and most spoke English.
I couldn't recommend this apartment highly enough.
Thank you Anne for your very generous review, it was a pleasure to have you as a guest and you are most welcome back anytime you feel you would like to return, Thank you again Michaela
Authentic, charming and cozy apartment.
The apartment fully lived up to our hopes and expectations with cozy furnishings and plenty of space both downstairs and upstairs. The kitchen contains everything needed, and the kindness and courtesy of the owner is impeccable.
It is located in the Old Town, and the style that is charming and relaxed, perfectly suited to it. In addition, Fondi a beautiful city with almost no tourists (this time of year), really good restaurants and great helpfulness from the locals, if you have any questions about anything.
If we go to Fondi again, we will definitely choose this apartment!
Very near to Sperlonga, one of the most beautiful coastal towns, the beaches are sandy and the sea is renouned for being the cleanest coastline in Italy.
Great Location to do sightseeing trips to Rome and Naples.
There is a train that leaves Fondi station for Rome and Naples every hour, it takes 1 hour and 15 mins in both directions. There is a local bus that leaves every hour for the beautiful beaches such as Sperlonga and Santa Annastasia, I do advice the hiring of a car to exploor the little surrounding towns in the hills and the wonderful coastline that is so near.

The apartment is very near a large Supermarket Maxi Sidis, and is very near to the local shops in the main street that leads you to the castle square with lots of caffes and places to drink and watch the local people parade and lots of summer concerts and activities arranged for the summer.
