About the property

Gite in Vidou, Nr. Trie sur Baïse, Haute Pyrenees, Midi-Pyrenees - Peaceful Rural Location, But Only 3.5 Km From All Amenities

Michouat has the benefit of being situated in a peaceful location, yet with easy access to both local and other further afield attractions. For those who are fans of local French markets, these are held in a number of nearby towns including the one in Trie sur Baïse on a Tuesday morning. These offer a wide selection of the local produce such as Armagnac, wines, foie gras, cheeses, and vegetables in season. During the summer, there are numerous fêtes and festivals taking place in the area, including the international Country & Western festival in Mirande, international Jazz fortnight in Marciac, and many other musical events to suit all tastes. Superb facilities are available both locally and in the Pyrénées for walkers, cyclists, golfers and adventure sports all year round, and skiing in the winter. Or if you wish you can just take life at the speed of the locals, relax and sit at a local café enjoying your coffee, watching the world go by.

About Pam Harrison

My husband and I have lived in Vidou for 13 years, during which time we have renovated our house, the original part of which dates back to the early 18th century. We have also renovated the barn, which is now our very comfortable gite.

We decided to move to France after having spent many holidays here, mainly camping along the Atlantic coast with our two teenage children. The 'children' are now grown up and we have two grandsons, all of whom live in England.

Pam Harrison purchased this barn in 2001

Why Pam Harrison chose Hautes-Pyrenees

Our property is ideally situated in a rural position, but only a five minute drive from the village of Trie sur Baïse, where there is all the necessary amenities for everyday living. For trips out, we are very conveniently located for mountains, coast, or pretty rural villages.

What makes this barn unique

The accommation is well located, with easy road links to autoroutes, railway and airports. It can offer the peace and quiet of a rural position, yet close to bars, restaurants and all facilities you may require.

Lovely gite in a lovely quiet location

  • 5 of 5

Great family holiday. Perfect pool for the kids. Close enough to the mountains for challenging cycling for the husband. Lovely and relaxing for me. The gite was very well equipped, Pam and Malcolm were available if required but left us to enjoy our holiday otherwise. All in all a brilliant holiday.

Repeat Performance!

  • 5 of 5

The fact that this was our ninth consecutive year of staying at this gite should speak volumes for itself.

The owners are always readily available if you want otherwise they will keep in the background. They are very welcoming, invariably cheerful and ultra-helpful.

The property and everything to do with it is always immaculate but not so much that you are frightened to use it.

The local area is delightful; beautiful countryside in the Gers and not too far from the Pyrenees. There is also good walking to be had fairly locally.

Markets abound in the surrounding villages and a good choice of restaurants if you want them.

We would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone.

Great base for skiing

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed with Pam & Malcolm many times over the last 5 years to take advantage of the great skiing at St Lary, which is only an hour and a half away, and we have already booked to go back again in 2015. The gite is very cosy and has all the facilities we need, and it is maintained to a very high standard. Pam & Malcolm are excellent hosts and we have no hesitation in recommending the gite.

Gîte très agréable, calme, fleuri, au milieu d'une nature authentique

  • 4 of 5
