Set in one and a half acres in a quiet rural area but within 5 mins of the market town of Rostrenen. The largest lake in Brittany, Lac Guerledan and the Nantes/Brest canal are only 15 mins away and offer many water sports including canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing and waterskiing as well as small sandy beaches, restaurants and boat trips along the lake in July/August. There are tennis courts in Rostrenen and fishing in nearby rivers and lakes. The roads and lanes are quiet and flat and ideal for bike riding with lots of designated randonees (footpaths) criss-crossing the countryside. The 2 properties on this site, the cottage (sleeps 4/6) and the farmhouse (sleeps 6 adults and 4 children ) can be rented separately or are ideal for larger family groups (max 16) who would prefer to rent both and have the pool/place to themselves. In the grounds are a boules court, table tennis, trampoline with safety net, swingball, badminton, children's swing, slide and playhouse. Dogs may be accepted.
Across the gravelled courtyard from the farmhouse is the pretty detached slate and granite cottage that sleeps 4/6. The open plan ground floor has a lounge/kitchen/dining area and bathroom. There is an antique dining table and chairs seating six.The kitchen is well equipped with a gas hob, electric oven, fridge and microwave oven. There are plenty of china, cutlery and glasses and all the normal appliances ie kettle, toaster, coffee maker, hand blender etc.
The comfortable lounge area has two leather chesterfield settees, books, flatscreened TV with freeview channels, video and DVD player and French doors lead to a private patio area which overlooks a small apple orchard and grassed area with a rotary washing line. The upstairs is fully carpeted with one double bedroom and a family room with a double bed and sofa bed

Full of character and well equipped
Very well equipped cottage in a quiet rural location but with easy access to local villages / town and the wider Brittany area. The owners are very easy to deal with, helping with not only ferries, but also local directions to help find the cottage, and a kind offer of shopping in advance.
Cottage is set in its own grounds alongside another cottage owner by the same people and share a nice well furnished and heated pool which is positioned to make the absolute best of the great sunshine with plenty of open space around for games.
Inside there is a well equipped kitchen space and two nicely appointed bedrooms.
In short heart place to stay for exploring Brittany and a place we would definitely go back to if in this area again.
Brillant time had by all
Loved the peaceful location surrounded by lovely countryside. Our children adored the swimming pool and all the things for them to do ( boules ,table tennis and trampoline)
Everything you could want here.Close to local market town and Lac Guerledan is a must to visit
Thank you so much for your kind review. It was a pleasure meeting you and all your family and hope to see you again sometime

Surprisingly spacious cottage set in lovely mature grounds. Having a swimming pool aswell and a supermarket 10 minutes away, what more could you want. We spent more time outside playing table tennis and swimming than indoors and enjoyed a few barbecues. Lovely and peaceful in the evenings and we all slept very well. Overall one of the best holidays we've had with the children.
Paradise in the country
Lustruyen Cottage is an idyllic hide away in the French countryside. The description of the cottage online did not do it justice. The cottage has been very tastefully refurbished inside, retaining many of it's original features. It has vast grounds which are very well maintained and a shared swimming pool which is cleaned on a regular basis.
It was clean and tidy throughout and the kitchen was very well equipped. The owners were extremely welcoming and were on hand if required yet unobtrusive. The nearest town was 5 minutes away and had a few very nice eating places. 30 minutes drive took you to several larger towns such as Pontivy which contained restaurants and a vast array of shops.
I would most certainly recommend Lustruyen Cottage and hope to return in the not too distant future.
Thank you Nuala & Philip for such lovely comments.
It was a pleasure meeting you and your family and we would like to say how much we appreciated your care and consideration you showed to our property, When you left the cottage it was immaculate.
Thank you once again and hope to see you all in the not too distant future.

we had a fabulous stay at the cottage photographs do not do it justice.
we very fortunate to have the property to our selves which allowed our dog to explore all round the gardens.
nothing was to much trouble to David who organised the vet and booked a local restaurant for us.
the cottage and pool area was spotless
I would recommend this property for anyone who requires a peacefully relaxing holiday is this area.
we would definitely return another year.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Lustruyen, despite some slightly unseasonal weather. The cottage has everything you need, and our kids loved the heated pool (as well as the English freeview channels!). The cottage is excellently located - we visited beaches on both the south and north coast. And the local Lac de Guerledan was fantastic for cycling, canoeing, kayaking, and walking - perfect for an activity-based holiday for families with young(ish) children.
