We are a family of 3 with a son of school age. We live in Ightham, Kent England. Both my Husband and I run our own businesses so holidays are very important to us. We have travelled to both Northern and Southern Portugal and love the country.

Why Linda Northridge chose Meia Praia
We first visited the Algarve 12 years ago, and took a day trip to Lagos. We instantly fell in love with the town and all it has to offer. So many great restaurants, excellent water sports, superb shops to find the perfect present to take home. The following year we came out and bought this great apartment, ideal for our son as there is a play area and tennis courts both of which he enjoys plus the fabulous pool that he spends most of the day in. We can enjoy the superb gardens relax in the sun and early evening have a cocktail at Destino's restaurant. We chose this apartment as it is close to the centre of Lagos however far enough away to have a really relaxing holiday.
What makes this Apartment unique
The apartment is fully air conditioned together with underfloor heating. We have a high-speed, fibre broadband service within the apartment so for work or pleasure and your children’s demands for internet access! Excellent facilities are available, we also have a 42" smart TV. In the peak months, there is a superb restaurant on site providing excellent food and drinks all day and evening. There are plenty of sun loungers around the pool however, if you prefer the beach this is only 5 minutes away and is one of the longest sandy beaches in Portugal. If you enjoy golf we are only 5 to 20 minutes’ drive from a multitude of golf courses and we can introduce to a local golf society for fun, reduced fee golf. Lagos town is a few minutes by car where there are many restaurants, bars, shops and a large marina which offers plenty of water sports and boating activities.

The apartment is spacious & comfortable.
I have stayed On this complex many times over several years and always have a great time. It is the complex rather than this particular apartment which has earned my 4 star rating. To be truthful, I thought the kitchen equipment in this apartment only just sufficed and there was only 2 of us! Cups & mugs were of poor quality & mismatched, there was just one huge colander, no large mixing/ serving bowls, no trays, no table mats. The oven gloves which were provided were filthy. We were provided with only one black bin liner, a used dish cloth & with no instructions on how to dispose of rubbish or recycling. The towels were of poor quality & very old & worn. One bath towel actually had a large hole in it. The ensuite bathroom floor was clearly unwashed as there was hair all over the floor. The ‘information file’ was a shambles, poorly presented & of little use. Whilst there is a balcony which leads off the lounge area, it is rather small for the amount of furniture on it & it overlooks roads - not picturesque at all.
The accommodation felt rather ‘holiday homey’ - not what I would call 5 Star.
Point by point as follows:
Kitchen is fully equipped for 6 guests with more than sufficient glasses, mugs, plates, bowls and cutlery.
There are 2 sets of table mats, formal and informal. 1 set in the bottom kitchen draw, the other in the sideboard in the living room.
The apartment has been successfully let all summer since last week May. With rave reviews I hasten to add from Brits, Irish, Canadian and Italian guests. If the oven gloves have become soiled, then our resort manager would have replaced them immediately
There is a large silver tray in the kitchen.
The apartment is self-catering, guests provide their own bin liners and have done so happily for 12 years…
The towels are not old and unless switched by mistake during a turnaround are of excellent quality. We holidayed in the apartment in July and all towels and linen were in good order. Again, as with the bathroom floor, all this should have been raised with our resort manager and would have been dealt with immediately.
Agreed, the information file is past its best and is being replaced.
The balcony is not cluttered, there is plenty of room for people move freely between the outdoor dining and living furniture.
The road you refer to is the cul-de-sac used to enter the development and a handful of adjoining Villas, the road is barely visible from the 1st floor balcony due to the gardens the apartment overlooks, and the predominant view is a lovely hillside vista of quality villas, their gardens and a large quantity of very blue Algarve sky.
I understand from our resort manager that you’ve previously stayed in an apartment that was not for rental and you can’t expect the same ‘home comforts’ from a property that is let for the whole of the summer.
We prefer clients to contact our resort manager with any concerns at the time as he is very attentive and will sort out issues without delay.
The apartment is our treasured 2nd home and we find this review distressing and upsetting. We take comfort from the continued stream of appreciative clients we have coming through. If any further proof was required of the quality of our apartment, it is in a long-term 9 month let commencing soon by a highly professional, international couple and their family whilst they oversee having their villa built.

A fantastic place to stay
The apartment was very spacious and well kept, and was a minutes walk from the swimming pool. The very long and sandy beach was a 15 minute walk and the sea was great to swim in. Very easy to get into town via a taxi and likewise the supermarket was a few minutes in a taxi. A great place for families wanting a relaxing but fun holiday.
We are glad that the apartment met the families expectations. Although the complex is outside of Lagos it is close enough to enjoy everything Lagos has to offer in the way of resturants, watersports and shopping.
Good host and a nice apartment. I would have given it 5/5 if the pool as stated was heated. Thanks!
Sehr gepflegte Anlage!
Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Schöne Wohnung mit allem Komfort zu einem sehr akzeptablen Preis. Leider hatten wir an diversen Tagen ziemlichen lästigen Baulärm durch Renovierungsarbeiten im Nachbargebäude. Insgesamt waren wir aber sehr zufrieden! 4 Sterne sind gerechtfertigt.

Meia Praia beach is 10 minutes walk on pavements. Meia Praia is one of the largest sandy beaches in the Algarve you will find sunbeds and umbrellas for hire and a great little bistro called Bar Quim run by sisters who will always give you a warm welcome. Praia Dona Ana is the most popular beach near to Lagos town centre from the apartment is about 10 minutes’ drive, it involves steep steps and is flanked north and south by cliffs and is sheltered from the wind. Praia Da Batata is the closest beach to the centre of Lagos town, by the entrance to the harbour.
The nearest airport is Faro about a 50 mins drive, car hire is desirable if you wish to explore the surrounding area. There is a train station in Lagos town with connections to Lisbon.
The nearest town is Lagos which is 2km away which is the most historically interesting coastal town in the Algarve. Praia Da Luz is about another 10 mins along the coast and means the 'The Beach of Light'. Heading west you have the fishing villages of Burgau and Salema still further are Sagres and St Vincent. Inland there are the old towns of Monchique and Silves. Cities to visit are Portamao and Faro.
All your shopping requirements are available in Lagos town whether it is the supermarket or shopping for gifts, should you require a bank there are plenty to choose from.
There is Destinos restaurant at the location which serves food all day, Lagos Town has resturants to suit all tastes.
Outdoor activites include various types of water sports, dolphin spotting and boat trips to various bays and caves along the coastline.
