A fully restored country villa in Abruzzo, near the town of Lanciano in the beautiful village of Castel Frentano. The property sleeps 10. A 4 bedroom (all with aircon), 3 bathroom house with private pool that is set within 1/3rd of an acre overlooking the village of Castel Frentano. 15 minutes from the unspoilt Adriatic Sea and 45 minutes from Roman ski resorts. This house has recently been totally renovated to the highest standard with all modern facilities including aircon & wifi internet access. The house sits overlooking the hill village of Castel Frentano with its bars, shops and cafes, where it is possible to relax and get a taste of real Italian life.
Tony is an early 50s sales director from Chester UK. Lynne is an interior designer with her own business. We bought the house in 2004 and spent 18 months doing it up. We are married with two teenage girls Kate aged 18 and Megan aged 16.
Tony purchased this villa in 2004
We wanted to buy a house in an undiscovered part of Italy & Abruzzo really fitted the bill. You can literally go 2 weeks without hearing anyone else speaking English. The scenery is just fantastic, not quite as rolling as Tuscany, but all the bright colours you expect of Italy in summer. The beaches are some of the best in Italy (Rough guide 2013) & having travelled to many different areas in Italy since buying the house, we always think that Abruzzo is just the best all round.
Having the mountains 30 minutes one way and the coast 20 minutes the other is what we always wanted & we've got it. Siamo molto fortunati!
Every year we discover a little bit more as the girls get older. Their current favourites are Aqualand at Vasto, snorkeling at La Foce and Go Ape! at Bocca di vallee.
Me, I prefer cooking a meal and getting a few local friends round for a couple beers, tasting a few Jamie Oliver dishes and singing along to a few tunes...
We had an absolutely super holiday in Italy and Casa Trastulli. Your house is something to be very proud of and its position one of the best in Italy. TS, Dorset.
We shall certainly recommend the house and the village which is totally unspoilt. A rare gem. JL Warwick.
The villa exceeded expectations; I think you're under-selling it.
It's just about perfect for chilling out in total quiet but close enough to civilization to make life easy. LH 2013
Loved the location of the villa with the views of the mountains and coast; Loved the rural setting, being surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. VS, Edinburgh.
Great place, ideal for the kids and nice just to chill out and drink beer! Highly recommended. SR, Leeds.
The house was great, the countryside is fantastic & the people very friendly. SJ, Lichfield.
We enjoyed a relaxing time in a beautiful, unspoilt part of the world. Friendly people, fantastic views, sitting on the balcony at night. PR Sunderland
We had a fantastic last week of our holiday in Italy at the spacious Casa Trastulli, after travelling across from Rome, via Sulmona. The house is very well equipped and maintained. On our arrival it was lovely to renew acquaintance with Antonio, who used to be my barber in Wokingham in the late 1980s!
We loved the relaxed feeling of Abruzzo and the house was just what we were after, being within easy reach of the mountains and the sea. We had several trips to the beach at Rocca san Giovanni which was superb for swimming and snorkelling. We also enjoyed a picturesque walk up the Valone delle Tre Grotte in the Parco Nazionale della Majella (from Pennapiedimonte). The nearby water park at Vasto was also one of the best we've been to. The house has a nice deep pool and large garden in which to enjoy summer BBQs.
A superb villa which we would definitely recommend for a fun family holiday.
Casa Trastulli is the most comfortable, relaxing villa set in beautiful Italian countryside. We love staying there, only a 5 minute drive into the local town, where you can buy fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and the most wonderful focaccia from the local bakery. It's very easy to use it as a base to explore the wider region, or just spending days relaxing in the sunshine by the pool. We've been there four times now and would highly recommend it!
We had a wonderful stay at Casa Trastulli, Tony and Lynne sent lots of useful information in advance of our trip and provided a lovely hamper for our arrival, they were really helpful in providing 'extras' for our two babies - two travel cots and a high chair - and were extremely quick to respond to any queries we had.
The views of the property were incredible, especially from the upstairs balcony at night. The kitchen was very well equipped and the house even had a TV, sound system and games.
The property was very well kept, spotlessly clean and well maintained. The cleaner came twice per week and the pool cleaned weekly. The garden and swimming pool were perfect. With two little ones the gated, enclosed grounds made our lives much easier.
There are some great visits to make; the mountains and beach are only a 30 minute drive away, which made the rainy weather much more bearable! We can vouch for the fact that there is certainly lots to do even when the weather isn't good!
There are some great restaurants, in nearby Lanciano, and around Casalbordino beach and some much more relaxed places in Castel Frentano.
This place is great and we would definitely recommend to friends and family and will very likely be visiting in the near future.
Casa Trastulli is a beautiful house with a large, well-maintained private garden, perfect for kids. The beds are comfy and spacious and the kitchen is well-equipped. The owners were very welcoming and extremely helpful.
Our family group of 9 stayed here for 1 week. Firstly, there is plenty of space and secondly, our expectations were truly exceeded as this is an excellent villa whose charm and character simply can not be captured on camera. We visited Rome for 3 days prior to staying at Castel Frentano and the drive across Italy was worthwhile for the incredible scenery along the way. The villa itself is well appointed, with everything needed to enjoy a relaxing holiday. It is difficult to describe the views from the balcony, stunning is a good place to start! On one side, the village rears up in front of you, which is particularly picturesque at night, and on the other side the breathtaking views across the valley to the mountains beyond. Castel Frentano has everything needed but there are bigger supermarkets a short drive away if required. The beaches are easily accessible if that is what you want, but for us it was all about relaxing by the pool with short excursions in to the mountains for a late afternoon drink, taking in the views. There is a water park around a 40 minute drive away which is worth a visit, particularly if you have young children. Tony was always quick and clear with communications and the detailed instructions provided to get the most out of our stay were very helpful. Tony and Lynne seem to be proud of their house, and rightly so! This was a great holiday, we would recommend a visit to anyone and and hope to return ourselves.
We had an amazing stay at this lovely villa. Party of 8 and it accommodated us really well. Lots of space. Really well appointed and just as described on the website. Loads of local sites to discover or if you want a chilled holiday just lie near the pool on the sunbeds! Directions to the villa were great as were the instructions of how to use the appliances etc, local restaurants, shops and beaches. We were always well informed. Antonio is the meet and greet man and was charming and knew everything about the locality and spoke English!
We had a great time and will return as 1 week wasn't enough. Thanks Tony and Lynne!

'This rugged part of central Italy is less famous for art than for bears. The Abruzzo bear that thrives in the highest fastnesses of the Appenines, only an hour and a half from Rome, is this region's totem animal. He wants to remind us than no region in Europe has no more of its land dedicated as national parks. Underneath the snow capped Gran Sasso d'Italia, the bears share space with ski runs, broad alpine meadows and virgin beech forests.'
