Gite in Secluded Setting

Bedrooms 1
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Gite near Sainte Mere Eglise, Normandy, France

This charming studio-style gite is situated next to a 16th century cottage in a secluded, rural location yet only 5 minutes from the nearest village of Sainte-Mere-Eglise. There is a good-sized living/dining area with open-plan kitchen overlooking the garden, itself overlooking an apple orchard regularly occupied by our neighbour's livestock. Beautiful sandy beaches within 8 miles including D-Day landing beaches. The National Parks offer bird-watching, fishing and other rural pursuits. This is an ideal spot from which to explore the delights of Normandy: Bayeux, Coutances, St-Lo, Sainte-Marie-du-Mont and Barfleur are just some of the places within easy reach. There are thriving local markets on most days of the week.

About The Owner

We love the slower pace and attitude to life in rural France and enjoy sharing that with our guests.

Why The Owner chose Manche

It was love at first sight even though the cottage was crumbling and the garden a jumble of weeds and rubble. The garden's starting to take shape as trees and shrubs begin to mature and every year brings a new plan together. I'm hoping for a wildlife pond this year - if only I can decide where to place it!

What makes this cottage unique

We're close to everything yet tucked away in a little corner of heaven, a perfect spot to enjoy the best of both worlds.

Guestbook comments from the owner

‘Lovely gite and location, comfortable and very peaceful. Your home-made ice-cream is to die for! Hope to see you again in the Spring’ Joanne Smith, Eastbourne.

‘Thank you for the warm welcome and a wonderful stay. We shall be back’ Dee and Terry, Southampton.

'our third year holidaying in your gite, a truly wonderful holiday for us.Thank you so much for providing a peaceful and beautiful place for us to relax and recharge our batteries. It is easy to see why Normandy is such a popular place for visitors,so much to see and do, how could anyone ever get tired of the place? Next year can't come soon enough! ' Sue and Rob Bell, Wolverhampton.

Lovely Relaxing Holiday

  • 5 of 5

Had a really relaxing holiday. Gite was lovely and well equipped with everything you could think of,including a BBQ which we used several times.

Centrally located for all the Normandy beaches and museums.

Sharon was a warm and friendly host.

We are looking to go back in 2015-can't wait!!

Thank you for a lovely week in your gite. The layout, size and feel of the place is exactly what we were hoping for and we were not disappointed. We will definitely recommend you to our friends and hope to be back ourselves too - perhaps next year!
