Farmhouse near Moncarapacho, Eastern Algarve - Rural Location

Casa Agarve is a restored farmhouse which sleeps 6 people in three double (or twin) bedrooms. It is located 10 minutes drive from the small town of Moncarapacho, situated in the quiet rural village of Estiramantens. The house is set back from the road, with a large field to the front and a private back garden with views of the sea in the distance. It has a spacious sitting room, a large well-equipped kitchen/dining room, three bedrooms, a large bathroom, one ensuite bathroom and a separate shower room. There is a large private south facing terrace, partly covered, adjacent to the swimming pool, and a brick barbeque. There are many places to relax and enjoy both around the house and in the garden. The roof terrace offers excellent views of the surrounding area down to the sea.

About BARBARA BLURTON

Our family has owned the house for 20 years. Originally a small ruined farmhouse it has changed greatly over the years; the addition of the 12m pool was probably the most dramatic. The garden has flourished and is a feature of which we are very proud. We enjoy the peace of the rural setting, benefit hugely from the goodwill of our Portuguese neighbours and love the beautiful coast line. This is typified by the walk (or tiny train ride) over the dunes, to the magnificent beach at Barril near St.Luzia, or the small ferry journey to the well equipped Tavira beach. We love this part of Portugal and hope you will too.

Comfortable, well-appointed property in a quiet location

My family and I enjoyed a great holiday in this very nice property. The lounge was very comfortable and a great place to sit and relax. The Wi-Fi was fast and very reliable. Outside, the large, clean pool was a great place to cool down whilst the covered dining area offered perfect protection from the sun. The kitchen contained everything that we wanted and needed. The master bedroom was very spacious; the bed was large and excellent. The other bedrooms were likewise, with views over the pool. The family bathroom was very large; all of the bathrooms were very clean. The towels and linen provided were first class. Maria, who lives in a nearby villa and services the villa, was extremely kind and helpful - a really lovely lady.

The villa is set in a quiet location, within a 15 minute drive of Tavira. We were very pleased to have had the opportunity to stay there and have no hesitation in offering a hearty recommendation.

Wonderful

We, three couples, spent a wonderful nine days at the villa. If you are looking for quiet relaxation, look no further. The house is situated in a totally rural area with no worries about the neighbours, traffic or the hustle and bustle of cities. Just nice and peaceful with mostly crickets keeping you company.

We especially liked the wonderful big pool and shady patios.

Not to mention the nicely equipped kitchen where we prepared most of our meals. The villa was also very clean and well-kept increasing our feeling of being just like at home, cosy and comfortable.

On the downside maybe the distance to shops and the sea. But with a car no real problem, twenty-five minutes is all you need to get to places. So you definitely need a set of wheels. All in all a very recommendable villa for a secluded holiday with friends or relatives.

Immaculately clean and very well designed to make the best of the weather, whether sunny or cloudy

Really enjoyed our stay. The house was just right for our needs, secluded but not isolated and with charming little villages and Tavira to visit. Even in February the local beaches were great for walking and playing. House very well maintained and cleverly designed with covered patio and roof terrace to sit and enjoy barbecue or a glass of wine. Certainly aim to go back sometime in Summer..

A great vacation home for families!

Casa Agave is designed perfectly for families. We normally come in the summer months and love the use of a private pool surrounded by native plants and land to explore that is part of the property. My son loves the train at the beach in Pedras del Rei, and my husband and I love the undeveloped beaches. The house has beautiful outdoor seating areas for any season—we normally use the covered back porch with a built-in grill for all our meals in the summer, and on this trip, the front patio area was wonderful for breakfast or lunch. There is also a wonderful rooftop terrace where we love to sit out in the late afternoon and enjoy the expansive view. Maria, the caretaker for the property, is friendly and although she only speaks Portuguese, she communicates well with us and our kids love her! She was there to help with anything that might come up during our stay. The house is handsomely furnished and with the recent addition of an en suite room to the house, my husband and I loved our stay. We got to relax and to have Casa Agave be our home base while we are in Portugal.

Car: necessary

Coast/Beach:

The Eastern Algarve coast is sheltered from the Atlantic Ocean in many places by sand islands which offer beautiful beaches - the nearest, Ilha de Armona, is about 10-15 drive away and is reached by a short ferry crossing. The Ilha de Tavira offers the beautiful Barril beach (approx. 20 mins drive), reached by a small railway previously used to move fish from the coast. There are many bars and cafes housed in the old fisherman's buildings.Tavira beach (approx. 25 mins drive) sits at the far end of the Ilha de Tavira. It is reached by a short ferry crossing and offers a multitude of bars, restaurants, beach facilities and activities.

Travel:

Faro airport is a 30 min drive, Seville 2 hours, Lisbon 3 hours. A car is essential to staying at Casa Agarve and all the major hire companies are represented at the airports.

Distances:

The nearest town of Moncarapacho is 10 mins drive away with all necessary facilities. Olhao is a busy town, 20 mins drive away with a large fishing fleet and daily fish market. Tavira is a picturesque town with 43 churches and many places of interest to visit.

Further Details:

Large supermarkets are located at Olhao and Tavira, and cash point machines are readily available everywhere.
