My name is Lisa and I live in Dorset with my husband Jerry who runs his own small business. I am a housewife as well as running our holiday cottage in Dorset. Our sons David and Matthew are grown up now but share our love of this beautiful island which we all visit as often as we can.
Villa Serafina is our escape from the stresses of modern life, it is our oasis of tranquillity in the sun.
The Owner purchased this villa in 2004
Always searching for a holiday somewhere a little bit different, we first visited Northern Cyprus in 1993 when our boys were young. We loved it for its quirkiness, its unspoilt and uncommercialised character and its friendly people. We returned in 2004 to see if we felt the same. We did, and decided to buy a holiday home here. We try to visit two or three times a year, and never grow tired of it. Northern Cyprus gives us the total peace and relaxation we need.
For us, nothing beats an icy cold Efes in Kyrenia Harbour, or meze for lunch at Kybele, in Bellapais.
Serafina is in a really peaceful location but it also just a short stroll from the coast,or if you fancy a night out without the car, you can find lovely bars and restaurants a short walk away. One of our favourite things in the world is sipping a gin and tonic beneath our very own lemon tree.! Highly recommended!
Villa very private and very peaceful. The villa is actually bigger than the photos seem. Pool was lovely and big, the villa was very well equipped.
Everywhere was comfortable from the lounge through to the bedroom.
We would highly recommend a car, we didn't because we were under the impression the " The strip" was a 5 minute walk away, however we would say it was more than 10 - 15 minutes, which would be hard work with the temperatures reaching 40 and over as it was when we were there in July, also just to pre-warn there are a couple of dogs on route out of the street, although chained up they were very intimidating especially on your first trip to the bin location.
Overall very relaxing, quiet, well appointed villa and excellent value for money.
Beautiful villa, well appointed with a very private pool and well kept gardens.
We didn't hire a car this time, preferring to walk the under 10 minute stroll to the coast road and use the local Dolmas bus service to get into Girne etc - dirt cheap and every journey can be a minor adventure ! For the evenings when eating out at the local Lapta restaurants we used a local taxi service to pick us up, return at an agreed time and deliver us back at the villa all for the princely equivalent of a fiver (pounds that is !)
All in all this was the most private and restful holiday we have ever experienced and we would recommend to anyone looking for a similar time.
Had a wonderful fortnight at Villa Serafina with my husband. From what we had read online it sounded perfect for us, which is exactly what it turned out to be, although the pictures still do not do it justice. The villa and gardens are really lovely and I even utilised the swimming pool as physiotherapy for my broken arm (sustained before we went away, I hasten to add!). It was so well equipped and absolutely everything was provided and the welcome pack was really good. It was very peaceful and quiet there but only minutes away from the "main road" with all its shops and bars and restaurants. All in all, we loved the villa so much that we have already booked for next year. Enough said!
This villa and is absolutely beautiful, from the décor to the lemon trees. My husband and I had the most relating week in the sunshine and in a comfortable extremely well equipped villa surrounding the pool with complete privacy. The location is just of the main road but in walking distance of bars and restaurants making this the perfect location. Prior to our arrival we were given information with regards car hire, dining recommendations and places to visit so we could plan our days, although we were very happy to chill out around the pool listening to music from the CD collection provided sipping Vodkas and lemons picked from the lemon trees and even watching a DVD when we needed to cool down for a while - one foot in the grave, classic!. I would highly recommend to anyone, it was just what we wanted and had the most lovely time.
Very pleasant, comfortable and well equipped villa. The views from the roof terrace are stunning. The pool is first class and the location means it is very well sheltered from the wind. Overall, excellent value. We would recommend it highly.
We've just back from a fantastic holiday in Villa Serafina. The Villa has everything that we needed; spacious rooms, 2 lovely terraces and a swimming pool that kept the children (and us!) entertained for many hours. The property is maintained to a very high standard - lovely and clean on arrival and maid / pool cleaning during the stay. The owners were extremely helpful; taking the time to talk to us prior to booking, providing recommendations for aiport pick up and rental cars whilst there, as well as sending us details of local attractions and restaurants.
There is plenty to do in the area and its well located for some longer day trips to other regions in Northern Cyprus. We have to recommend a visit to the Turtle Project at Aligadi, where we were lucky enough to watch a turtle nest excavation and release the hatchlings into the sea that evening!
All in all, a fabulous family holiday!
The sea is a 5 min walk away, with beaches in Lapta about a 5 min drive. Beaches such as Pegasos and Escape in Alsancak are about a 10 min drive.
There is a new coastal walkway which is less than a 5 minute drive from the villa, the perfect place to stroll in the balmy evenings!
Ercan airport( North Cyprus) is about 1 hour away and Larnaca(South Cyprus) about 1 hour 15 minutes. Car hire is not essential, as Lapta is within walking distance however, it is recommended.
We can recommend car hire companies and a friendly English speaking taxi driver for airport collections.
Lapta is less than a 5 min drive away with the beautiful town of Girne about a 20 mins drive. Girne has a beautiful medieval harbour and castle. Bellapais Abbey is about 35 min from the villa and St Hilarion Castle about the same.
As Northern Cyprus uses the Turkish Lira your money goes much further than in the rest of the Mediterranean. Sterling, Euros and US Dollars can also be used, and credit cards are widely accepted, with many ATM machines around.
Restaurants are very inexpensive when compared to the UK, and there is a very good choice of different cuisines. Local wines, spirits and beers are much cheaper than in the UK.
Electrical adaptors are not needed as three pin plugs are standard.
Driving is on the left as in the UK.
People are very friendly and English is widely spoken.
Organised mountain walks particularly in Spring are available, as well as a range of water sports, horse riding and hang-gliding. For children and the more energetic amongst you, there is an Aquapark a few minutes drive away in Lapta.
