Relax in comfort in our top-floor apartment on magical Patara Prince Resort. The apartment has character together with all the modern facilities you expect - including a wetroom with walk-in rainfall shower. There is a large bougainvillea-covered balcony with beautiful sea and village/harbour views, the resort has 4 pools for your use, as well as private sun/sea-bathing platforms and a mini-market is just a stone's throw away. Kalkan has to be one of the most picturesque places on the Turkish coast but Patara Prince Resort is something else. Constructed on white, local stone terraces leading down to the Mediterranean, you won't believe how beautiful Patara Prince resort is, even when you're there! Situated only a short distance from the centre of Kalkan (recommended by the Independent as a destination of choice, especially for those seeking a romantic vacation) amid abundant semi-tropical gardens, and giving direct access to the sea, Patara Prince Resort is 'Nothing short of a seaside paradise' (Frommers Guide). Privately owned and managed and situated at the top of the resort, staying in our apartment gives you options to spend time on the resort and use the facilities there, make easy trips into Kalkan town, or access transport to take you further afield for day trips.

We live in London and first visited Turkey in 2005, driving all the way round the coast from Istanbul in the North to Alanya in the South and knew that Kalkan was somewhere special then. The next year we bought the apartment and have been visiting this part of Turkey ever since. We've built up quite a bit of local knowledge during that time so if you have any questions do please ask.
Pat purchased this Apartment in 2006
Why Pat chose Kaş
Kalkan is incredibly picturesque and is still essentially a village - although a sophisticated one - where it’s easy to find your way around. You also have the advantage of a beautiful hinterland which is full of history and legend and is still so unspoilt. The food is wonderful, and the hospitality too. One of the greatest joys though is observing the light on the sea from the apartment at different times of day - milky-white at first light, silver sunlight in the afternoon - and the moon glowing gold on the water at night. Full moon is the biggest treat of all when the horseshoe-shaped bay becomes filled by moonlight.
What makes this Apartment unique
We bought this apartment because we loved its character and seaview and the celebrated beauty of the resort where it is situated. But we've also added to the property to make your stay more comfortable - there's a wetroom with rainfall shower, and kitchen improvements including a sleek black ceramic hob and granite worktop. As well as having a washing machine and flat-screen TV and DVD player, this holiday apartment is also fully air-conditioned in both living area and bedroom as there's nothing worse than not being able to sleep on holiday because you're too hot.

Lovely apartment with nice view over Kalkan and sea
You have everything you need for a lovely restful holiday. Pat is a fantastic host and answers all emails promptly.the only thing is there is nothing in the apartment on arrival and if you have a late flight. A bottle of water or some milk would be welcome.
Hi Claire, thanks so much for the review and we're delighted you enjoyed your stay and came back refreshed. Very sorry there wasn't any water on arrival! I do ask for it to be provided and am sorry that on this occasion there wasn't any. I will pass on your feedback to our property manager and ask him to be sure it is there in the future. Kindest regards, Pat
Fantastic view never got bored of sitting on the amazing balcony
Lovely top floor apartment with breathtaking views , apartment had everything we needed Very well equipped , Patra prince is lovely very pieceful and beautiful flowers everywhere the pools were lovely for us not to busy just right ,had excellent communication from the owner very helpful which was appreciated ,we fell in love with the apartment the views and beautiful kalkan and will definitely return thank you x
Fab apartment in a great location. Complex had everything especially loved the uncrowded swimming pools and fab water taxi over to the beach. Shop and infinity pool on the doorstep too which was a real bonus. As for Kalkan, it's been 10 years since our last visit, and, as always amazing people. Kindness and warm hospitality that's rare to find in most places....highly recommend!
Clean , tidy and comfortable
As old Kalkan hands we so love the place for its atmosphere, sun, security, shops and above all the restaurants that we are fairly relaxed as to the accommodation. Like the rest of the Patara Prince resort the property is beginning to show its age but it was comfortable and clean with magnificent views from the balcony. We did think that such basics as say half a toilet roll, washing up liquid and salt and pepper might have been provided to tied us over on our first night as we were used to having elsewhere- without asking for it in advance- but the rental was very fair and overall we would certainly recommend it. Kalkan is a jewel and we will be back!
Thank you, Nick, for your review. Our apartment is actually one of the most modernised apartments available to rent on the resort particularly with regard to new wetroom and in the kitchen area. You did inform me the night before you left about a couple of minor repair issues which, had I known sooner would have been repaired immediately. I always ask guests to contact me as well as our property manager in Kalkan - ideally in good time so that it doesn't impact unnecessarily on their stay - if they need to report anything. I'm sorry you didn't find any toilet paper etc when you arrived. Please take it as given that we always aim to provide this as a minimum as we recognise the inconvenience.
Fantastic holiday in beautiful Kalkan. Can't wait to return!
My daughter and I spent 11 relaxing days at pats lovely apartment. We had everything we needed,it was very clean and tastefully decorated. The balcony was fabulous with amazing views across the bay. We had breakfast sitting looking out and planning our day ahead.
The patara prince resort was lovely too, friendly and helpful staff. We used all of the pools and the sea platforms/water taxi. We ate lunch in the patara restaurant which was very good. There was also a pool side service and nothing was too much trouble. You can get 25% off the total of your bill at the end of your holiday.. We couldn't believe how reasonable this was! There is a shuttle bus that takes you back up after your day by the pool which was great..it's very steep!
Kalkan town is a short walk away and we walked in for evening meals/cocktails. You cannot go wrong when eating out, we had gorgeous food and the presentation was amazing. We enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the cobbled streets and will definitely return. Kalkan is one of my favourite places and you cannot helping falling in love with it.
Thank you pat for all your help and advice. Your apartment is just lovely. The people of Kalkan are so friendly and welcoming we were very sad to leave!

We arrived not expecting anything particularly special as the price was so good, but were really pleasantly surprised when we got to the apartment. It's location is great as it is part of the Patara Prince resort, so we were able to use all the hotel facilities such as the many pools, tennis courts, restaurants and beachy area. However, it is nicely located at the top of the resort out of the way (good exercise coming up all the steps!), so it was very peaceful, quiet and had beautiful views. We loved sitting on our balcony for breakfast or in the evenings looking out over Kalkan and the sea. The apartment was really well equipped, useful kitchen, comfortable bedroom and sitting room, plenty of storage space, TV, clean modern bathroom and good air conditioning for the heat! It was perfect for us as a young couple to relax and we had such a fantastic time in Kalkan and the surrounding area with all the many things there is to do. It was a perfect holiday and we would definitely recommend Cactus 213!
Dear Alexander, thank you so much for your lovely review. I'm delighted you both had such a good time and the apartment suited your needs so well. Thanks again, Pat
Special interest holidays:
The Lycian Way, one of only two long-distance footpaths in Turkey passes through Kalkan and Kas as well as many ancient sites on its spectacular route through the mountains and along the coastline of south-west Turkey, following the line of Roman and Ottoman roads, mule tracks and nomad trails. Come in spring and autumn when the temperatures are pleasant for walking and the sea warm enough to swim, or winter is also excellent as days are often sunny and warm and the snow-covered peaks of the Taurus mountains form an impressive backdrop.
You can access the sea directly from the resort via sea-platforms. There is a beach in Kalkan and another beautiful beach about 3 km away at Kaputas but 8 km away there's one of the longest sandy beaches to be found anywhere in the Mediterranean, Patara (after which the resort is named and indeed modelled). Guarded by a ruined Roman city and a stunning 18km in length, Patara beach topped the Evening Standard's list of 10 Fantastic Summer Beaches!
Fly to Dalaman about 75 miles away (or Antalya, which is slightly further). We recommend easyJet, Thomas Cook Airline. TripAdvisor has a useful flight search especially for last-minute. From the airport we can recommend local firms we know to book transfers or car hire . A car, though useful, is not essential as public transport is plentiful in this part of Turkey and remarkably good value.
Kas, 15 miles away, is the nearest small town and the spectacular journey from Kalkan has been listed as one of the 10 most beautiful coastal drives in the world. Greece comes right up to the Turkish mainland here as Kastellorizo, the most easterly of all the Greek Islands – and the setting for Best Foreign Language film, Mediterraneo – sits practically in the harbour at Kas and within a mile and a half of the shore. You can take a glorious daytrip there from Kas.
There is a shop very close by on the resort which sells all the essentials you're likely to need. Supermarkets in Kalkan also offer a delivery service. Kalkan is a small picturesque village and where there is a roof there is a restaurant. Competition has made the town a gastronomic treat. There are 3 restaurants on the resort serving Turkish and Mediterranean specialities and there are more than 100 restaurants in Kalkan to choose from as well. Our favourite is Adem's restaurant (just outside town on the road to Kas) and if you eat there he offers a free taxi service. Kalkan has several small shops and boutiques selling clothes, jewellery, leather goods and pottery as well as a good local market on Thursdays. But for a really big market, don't miss out on Fethiye (every Tuesday).
Originally an Ottoman Greek fishing village (founded by Greek traders from the nearby island of Kastellorizo 200 years ago and Greek-populated until 1921), Kalkan is now a sophisticated small resort. Kalkan and nearby town Kas are both renowned for their Greek architecture – wooden balconies, bougainvillea, etc. Greece’s proximity makes it possible to make a stay here a two-country holiday as from Fethiye, 45 miles away, hydrofoils make the 1½ hour crossing to Rhodes (an official entry point into Greece) every weekday in summer too. In ancient, pre-Roman times, the Turquoise Coast from Fethiye round to almost Antalya, was known as Lycia (Land of Light). The Lycians’ many monuments still dot the entire landscape of the south-west coast of Turkey and the ruins close by at UNESCO World Heritage site, Xanthos are a must. Visit Letoon, where Alexander the Great received the prophecy he'd conquer Persia and the sunken city at Kekova, reachable by boat or on foot from Ucagiz (about 35 miles east of Kas).
