Fantastic holiday - fantastic hosts - fantastic!

From the moment we arrived to our departure, we simply had a wonderful time. The location is second to none - absolutely beautiful, remote yet not isolated and a true taste of Provence. After a long drive and many delays on the motorways, our hosts greeted us kindly, gave us an hour to find our feet and unpack and then showed us around our home for the next two weeks. The pool is just brilliant. Being in the countryside, there are the usual insects etc but the pool is surrounded by astroturf, rather than grass which means firstly it always looks brilliant and secondly, no insects crawling through it. The pool is beautiful and the deep end is properly deep - when it was built I can't see any expense was spared. The apartment is perfect for a stay and has all you need. We were in Les Romarins - myself, my husband and our two children (4 and 7). The kitchen area is small as you can see on the photos but I didn't feel cramped cooking meals for the family at all. The fridge is a good size and the kitchen was equipped with all you'd need. There are mosquito nets on the first level windows, and perhaps it would help to have one fitted on the mezzanine level as that bedroom could get quite warm in the nights with the window shut (it was 35 degrees upwards when we were there though so I'd expect it to be fairly warm!). Every few days, we were offered fresh tomatoes, onions, peppers and lettuce from the Domaine's organic gardens which were simply delicious. We were free to play Boules on their pitch, use the outside dining area and their brand new barbeque/outdoor grill too. My son got to sit on one of the tractors that works the farm (which made his year!) and they were both welcome to fuss their beautiful horses too. We were told to go and pick fresh apricots and figs from the trees (so tasty).... the list could go on and on.

The closes Boulangerie is in Ampus a 5 min drive away for breakfasts. The main supermarket (an Intermarche or a large Carrefour) in Draguignan provided everything else you'd need and were only 20 mins in the car down the amazing winding road to Draguignan.

There's lots more I could say, but really, it was one of the best holidays we've had for the relaxing nature of it, kindness of our hosts, and facilities and beauty of the place.

Special interest holidays:

The Domain is situated just outside Ampus, a quaint village in the Var not far from the Lac de Sainte Croix. The Lac is a perfect place to do some kayaking, boating and other water sports. For the more daring, there is canyoning, rafting and rock-climbing in the picturesque Gorges du Verdon.

The region has a number of artistic crafts. You can find, for example, ceramics or excellent stoneware of Moustiers or of Salernes and you will be amazed how traditional and modern exist alongside each other.

Not far from the property, there are museums to attract you. At Draguignan there is the Museum of Arts and popular traditions; the Museum of stoneware at Moustiers; the Art Gallery Simon Segal at Aups; Museum Camos and galleries of Bargemon; the fossil museum at Tourtour... and so on.

Coast/Beach:

Domaine de la Grange is only a 45 minute drive away from the Mediterranean and some of its world renowned resorts like St-Tropez and 1 hour from Cannes and Nice. Closer beaches near Frejus are 30 minutes drive from the property.

Travel:

Nice airport is a 1 hour drive from the property. Transfer by car or helicopter can be arranged. Marseille is a 2 hour drive.

Distances:

Our town Ampus is only 3km away. There are 2 restaurants, 2 bars, 1 cybercafe, a bakery and small grocery shop. There are lots of typical French towns with lots of restaurants all 10 minutes drive from the property.

All other famous typical french rural towns are 10 minutes from each other by car. Gorges du Verdon 30 min. St Tropez 45 min. Cannes 60 min. Nice 60 min. Grasse 60 min. Ski 90 min.
