The Teras Apartment is on the exclusive, small, Emir Development which has wonderful views of the bay of Kalkan. The ‘old town’ is a five minute walk away. This air conditioned luxury two bedroom apartment is located on one floor at pool level in a prime location. It has the largest furnished covered veranda (20 sq.m.) in the complex which keeps the interior of the apartment cool. The private terrace is accessed through French doors from the lounge and a door from the master bedroom. There are two shared swimming pools, a children's pool, spacious sunbathing terraces with loungers and umbrellas. The Teras apartment is decorated and furnished to a very high standard featuring stone walls, antique marble floors and large windows. It includes all the facilities you would expect to find in high quality accommodation, such as black granite topped tables and worktops, water cooler, 32" LCD TV with satellite, DVD and CD player, wi-fi, high quality kitchen equipment and a safe. There is an English speaking manager who lives on site along with other staff and she will assist guests with any problems, booking taxis, arranging for a take away delivery, etc.

About Avril & John Mills
We're John & Avril Mills and we own the Teras Apartment at the Emir (property number TK411, 8014540), live in England and enjoy travelling to our second home in Kalkan three times a year. Avril is retired and John is a retired photographer. We love the hospitable Turkish people, the beautiful scenery, great food and the relaxed way of life. We have six grown up children and 6 grandchildren . The Maribo Apartment at the Emir (property number TK4541, 8157484) is owned by our very good friends Marit and Derek who live in Norway and visit their second home in Kalkan regularly. Marit is a school teacher and Derek is retired from the oil industry. They have children and grandchildren. As she is UK based Avril manages the bookings for both apartments.

Why Avril & John Mills chose Kalkan
Being well travelled both couples rarely returned to a place twice. Avril and John visited Kalkan, loved it and bought the Teras Apartment on their third visit. Marit and Derek visited the Emir for many years and in 2012 bought the Maribo Apartment. We were all won over by the views, the beautiful old town and the warm Turkish people. The final deciding point was the amazing range of places to eat in Kalkan, serving everything from Turkish country to sophisticated international food, many had breathtaking views. We knew that no matter how often we visited eating out would always be a joy. Kalkan rises up the hills behind the bay so location is very important. We chose the beautiful Emir development as it was high enough to have great views but only a short 5 minute walk to the old town. It has a very high number of repeat guests.
What makes this Apartment unique
John & Avril chose the Teras apartment because it has beautiful views and is located on the terrace of the larger pool. It has the largest covered veranda on the development and is all on one level and this makes holidays very relaxed. It is immaculately furnished. Marit and Derek chose the Maribo because it has a private terrace with great views and is also all on one level just a few steps up from the main pool. We also chose the apartments because they are in a quiet location and are serviced by an English speaking manager who lives on site, along with other staff, who will resolve any problems we or guests have. Within 150 yards of the apartment there are five banks, three supermarkets, a patisserie and a greengrocers. The nearest restaurants and bars are also also about 150/200 yards away.

We stayed at the Maribo apartment which Avril manages the bookings for as she was staying in the Teras herself. Avril was extremely efficient in organising our stay and the Emir apartments are lovely - a small, extremely well maintained complex, plenty of space to sit or lounge near each apartment or on one of the sun terraces.
A brilliant location - so close to town yet still high enough to make the most of Kalkan's wonderful views.
The apartments are extremely well maintained and it is reassuring to have resident staff should you need them.
Just come back for an amazing 2 weeks holiday. The apartment is beautiful and could not have asked for more helpful owners Avril and John. Thanks again for everything and all the added extra touches that make it feel like it's your own home
The pebble beach in Kalkan ensures the sea is clear and turquoise. About 10 minutes away by local transport or car is the dramatic sandy beach of Kaputas, situated at the mouth of a spectacular gorge and only about 20 minutes away is wonderful Patara beach, which is 18km of unspoiled sandy beach.
Dalaman is the usual airport for Kalkan where you can either hire a car or we can arrange private transfer for you. It takes about 1hr 30 minutes to Kalkan but is an interesting journey with lovely views and the chance to absorb the local culture. Many UK airlines fly to Kalkan (Thomas Cook, First Choice, etc) and flights can be booked easily on the internet. It is also possible to fly to Antalya but the transfer distance is longer and therefore more expensive unless you are hiring a car.
The town of Kas (23 kms from Kalkan) is reached by a spectacular coastal drive. Its character is different from Kalkan, having a more 'bohemian' feel and can be reached by Dolmus, car or inexpensive taxi. Fethiye is also worth a visit, particularly on a Tuesday which is market day as is Saklikent Gorge, Kaya and Kekova. Near to Kalkan are many historical sites such as Xanthos, Letoon and Tlos. For walkers the Lycian Way provides miles of ancient pathways through the countryside.
Banks, 2 supermarkets, a greengrocery and bakery and restaurants are within 200 yards of the apartment.
The choice of places to eat in Kalkan is without comparison and is one of the reasons people return year after year. You will find sophisticated harbour and rooftop restaurants that serve high quality fresh food and seafood caught earlier that day and provide wonderful views of the sea and town. Each play their own style of music such as jazz, classical, swing, Turkish, sometimes live, but always in keeping with the stylish ambiance of the town. You will also find excellent inexpensive traditional Turkish restaurants serving the great fresh produce that can be bought locally.
Water sports, including diving, and gulet trips are available in Kalkan. Kas, Patara and other places can be visited using the local Dolmus service (bus service but usually a small minibus) and organised trips or taxis can all be arranged in the village.
Visitors can also choose to spend the day at one of the beach clubs situated at various locations around the bay, accessed by using the small motor boats which throughout the day ferry visitors free of charge from the harbour.
There is a weekly market on Thursdays which is within walking distance of the apartment.

Booking Notes: A 30% non-refundable deposit (£100 minimum) is required to secure a booking. The non-returnable balance is payable 8 weeks prior to arrival. We also ask that you only smoke on the terrace, where ashtrays are provided. We will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the apartment, the area or flights. Changeover Day: Changeover day is flexible. The apartment can be accessed from 3pm on the day of arrival and vacated by noon on the day of departure. However whenever possible we are flexible with these times, dependent on the timing of the previous/following guest. Please note that bookings are not accepted for single sex groups under the age of 25
