Great week in Thorpe Cloud Cottage
I stayed with my three teenage sons and we had a great time, fabulous pool and a really well equipped house - particularly the kitchen... would definitely come again
Lovely cottage in wonderful, quiet countryside
This is a superbly equipped and furnished cottage. We had everything we needed for a great stay. Ray, the owner was very friendly and helpful and the indoor pool was wonderful. We used it every day. We would certainly recommend this cottage to anyone who wishes to stay in this region.
Wonderful, relaxing break.
The cottage is in the most beautiful setting, with some great walks right from the door; the patio looking across at Thorpe Cloud is an especially delightful spot for an early evening G&T! The pool and hot tub were an added bonus and great fun. We received a warm welcome from Ray, and the fresh flowers and wine were much appreciated. A really lovely holiday and we hope to return.
An absolutely beautiful place the house is outstanding and the location to die for we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely go again. Owners very nice and happy to help with anything. The cottage is perfect everything you would need is available to you and the pool is an added bonus. Fantastic
Lovely relaxing break!
We booked the cottage hoping for a relaxing break prior to the impending arrival of our first baby and we were not disappointed!
The cottage is beautiful, well maintained and clean with a stunning garden complete with fabulous views! You are very well supplied for self catering but there are also plenty of options in nearby villages/towns should you wish to dine out with good recommendations from the owners!
We settled in well and took advantage of the wonderful pool almost daily (which was simply a fantastic benefit of staying at the cottage)!
Location was perfect for us! We could hop in the car to explore all the site seeing the Peak District has to offer but if you wanted to stay put and just enjoy the tranquility of the garden or go for a walk toward Thorpe Cloud it was literally on the doorstop!
The owners, Ray & Julie, were lovely from initial contact to arrival and farewell - Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Charlotte & Matt
Thanks Charlotte & Matt (and soon to be addition) for your lovely feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed your first holiday at the cottage. We hope all goes well and look forward to seeing your larger family in the future.
A well deserved rest!
We found Thorpe Cloud Veiw to be a gem of a property which felt intimate and secluded but excellently situated for easy access to cycle rides, walks and amenities. The wonderful pool and jacuzzi were in use everyday and lovely addition to the house. We enjoyed cycling to the adorable village of Tissington with is beautiful unspoilt views and tea room. A nice day out was had in Ashbourne which has a host of cafes and bars and also the National Trust site in Ilam which has a nice easy walk and tasty food. All in all a great week and we will certainly be looking to back to this great property and beautiful area of the UK again.
That’s for your kind review. We are pleased you enjoyed your birthday celebrations and made the most of walking and cycling straight from the door. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Ray and Julie

There are many country pubs that offer a friendly atmosphere and reasonably priced food, or high quality restaurants at nearby hotels or within 3 miles at Ashbourne. Ashbourne offers a choice of supermarkets, high street & local bespoke shops, banks and many ladies boutiques. There are a number of Antiques shops in Ashbourne. The pub in the village now named The Old Dog has been fantastically renovated and is great for a drink something to eat, approx. 1/3 mile to walk UP the road.
Shrovetide is an annual event each February which sees Ashbourne closed to traffic & shops boarded up for 2 days whilst the local townsfolk "Upards" take on the "Downards" in a "football" match through the streets with goal posts some 3 miles apart. A spectacle to behold!!
