5 Star holiday cottage with its own private indoor pool. Situated in Thorpe, a delightful village at the southern end of the White Peak area of the Peak National Park, Thorpe Cloud View cottage is a charming holiday location within the four-acre grounds of, but set apart from, Thorpe House, a late Georgian limestone grade two listed building of considerable character. The cottage, allocated the top rating of five stars, has uninterrupted views of Thorpe Cloud, at the entrance to Dovedale, the limestone gorge which separates Derbyshire and Staffordshire. The surrounding areas provide excellent walking. The picturesque Derbyshire market town of Ashbourne is just some 3 miles away; the spa town of Buxton, and the historic houses of Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall and Kedleston are all within easy access. Alton Towers, the UK’s largest leisure park is only a twenty-minute drive away.

All prices shown are for 2 adults sharing the cottage. £11/night additional charged for each additional adult or child, minimum charge is 2 nights for additional guests, so £22 each. Due to the galleried landing and York Stone flooring, the cottage is not ideal for children under the age of three, however the cottage can be booked at parents own discretion/responsibility. We do not provide a cot, high chair or stair gate. Outside: A private estate with fantastic gardens in all 4 acres. The Holiday Cottage enjoys uninterrupted view of the hills of Thorpe Cloud at Dovedale. Often you will be able to watch sheep and lambs, cows, bulls and calves, many types of birds including woodpeckers all from the secluded outside seating area of the holiday cottage. Indoor Swimming Pool & Luxury Jacuzzi. This opulant swimming pool is heated to 31 degrees. It is about 1.4meters deep and 14 metres (40 ft) long. Ideal for the serious swimmer, for the beginner or for the children. The Jacuzzi has its own heating control and has jets from the sides and the bottom of the seat. Utility Room: Eco friendly remote central heating system (biomass wood pellets) Washing machine and dryer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The cottage is cleaned after each guest visit. Towels and bedlinen are provided. Our gardener tends to the grounds and may start early (7.00am). Also our handy man is often around keeping everything looking great. This will include moving and loading wood pellets to a centralised green energy heating system. Other: Gallaried landing over the lounge/sitting room gives an open spacious feeling.

Ideal location, warm and walcoming with everything you need and more

Perfectly situated with walking distance to Dove Dale, Ilam and Thorpe Cloud, it's even only 10 minutes cycle from the Tissington cycle trail and a short walk to a cosy pub that serves real ale and food. The cottage has a gorgeous layout with a mezzanine hallway into the bedroom upstairs and dining room bridging the kitchen and living room. The fireplace has a glass door and is a very effective log burner, but really everything is laid out for you - kindling, long matches and chopped wood. We had brought out bikes and the owners were really attentive in making sure dry secure storage was made available for them. Clarke who helps out about the place for Ray even dropped by a map of a route I was interested in completing whilst there. We had every bit of local knowledge on tap in folders we needed. Towels were plentiful - even in the swimming pool which also had inflatables for big kids like us to play around with. We had an amazing time and were both left to our own space and had easy support and advice whenever needed - perfect hosts and a really special place.

Beautiful cottage, complete relaxation

We had a fantastic stay in this lovely cottage. Everything we could possibly have wanted and more! Very cosy with the log burner and the pool was added luxury. Location ideal for exploring the area and lovely views from the cottage. Ray and Julie were very welcoming and we would definitely recommend. Thank you so much. Andy and Kath

Charming Cosy Cottage with a Lovely Private Pool!

We decided we would like a winter break so we chose to book Thorpe View Cottage and we are so glad we did, it is a lovely place to spend a week. The cottage is so peaceful and very spacious, its well equipped & always warm as it has a lovely log burner in the lounge as well as being central heated throughout, the lounge has a dvd player and the kind owners have left a bookcase with some dvd’s , books, games for those cold days when you just want to relax and stay cosy by the log burner! The bedroom has a TV & en-suite, it also has a very comfortable bed with very nice quality bedding to sleep on, you won’t want to get up!! The cottage it very private and the lovely owners will introduce themselves and then give you total privacy but are there if you have any problems. The cottage has amazing countryside views and it’s nice to watch the visiting wildlife in the garden & the sheep and cows up on the hills! The local town is only a short drive away and is a really nice town with quite a few individual shops to look around and many places to eat & drink!

We also visited the Heights of Abraham , Bakewell and the Ladybower Reservoir but the rest of the time we spent in the cottage and by the amazing pool/hot tub which is a really lovely area, you feel like you are at a 5* spa resort and you have it totally to yourselves which is so nice! We enjoyed our stay very much and hope to return at some point in the future!

Further Details:

There are many country pubs that offer a friendly atmosphere and reasonably priced food, or high quality restaurants at nearby hotels or within 3 miles at Ashbourne. Ashbourne offers a choice of supermarkets, high street & local bespoke shops, banks and many ladies boutiques. There are a number of Antiques shops in Ashbourne. The pub in the village now named The Old Dog has been fantastically renovated and is great for a drink something to eat, approx. 1/3 mile to walk UP the road.

Shrovetide is an annual event each February which sees Ashbourne closed to traffic & shops boarded up for 2 days whilst the local townsfolk "Upards" take on the "Downards" in a "football" match through the streets with goal posts some 3 miles apart. A spectacle to behold!!
