About Ruth E Mason
My name is Ruth Mason and my parents purchased Quinta Mimosa in the late 1970s. Ownership has now been handed down to the next generation and it is our holiday home. All ages enjoy Quinta Mimosa from the very young, teenagers to the more sedate. Although Portugal has altered greatly over the past 30 years, the magic which is Portugal has not and the Mason Family young and old still love it as much as today as we did when we first arrived all those years ago. Primarily this is our holiday home and we hope all our guests, and we have had many over the years, enjoy it as much as we do.

Why Ruth E Mason chose Luz
What makes this Villa unique
At Quinta Mimosa you can either "lock the doors" and just soak up the atmosphere requiring only good company, a swim, food and drink or venture down to Praia da Luz or Lagos for restaurants, shops and people. At the end of the day however, you always return to your own piece of Portugal, self contained and yours for your stay.

Fab u lous !
Well, what can I say. Just returned after 2 glorious weeks at Qunta Mimosa. Didn’t know what to expect after reading some of the reviews but we decided to make our own judgments. Yes, it is a tad tired in places, but does not retract from how lovely and spacious it is. In fact we all kept getting lost at times. So many lovely areas to sit and chill we were spoilt for choice. There were 6 adults and 2 small children with plenty of room. The pool was a life saver as we had 30 degrees every day. The views from the terraces were amazing. We found the management team very helpful, even buying a new remote for the tv and tuning it in. Silvia worked very hard, even though we kept the place as tidy as we could. None of us wanted to go home and would loved to have stayed for another 2 weeks. We definitely return and would recommend the villa to any of our friends and family.
Only one bugbear was the road.....could do with repairing!
The best restaurant by far was Boatys, went there twice, good food, atmosphere and service.
Can we come again please Ruth?
Thank you for loving Quinta Mimosa as much as we do. I agree about the road and my winter project is to galvanise the other users to jointly carry out some much needed repairs.
We would love to have you and your family again, just give me a ring.
best wishes Ruth
A lovely place to relax in.
The villa is spacious & homely, the gardens beautiful, the heated pool & sea views a bonus. We can’t wait to visit again!
Thank you and look forward to having you again
best wishes Ruth
The photos do not do this villa justice!
This villa is wonderful and made a great base for a fabulous family holiday.
Delighted to hear you had a good time. Ruth
Quinta Mimosa is an oasis of tranquility for all our family and friends. It is our “go to” place!
This was the third time we have been in 5 years and the villa has retained all of its charm and comfort. Whether you are eating in one of the three outdoor dining areas or lazily relaxing in or around the pool, Quinta Mimosa allows you to really relax and appreciate the fantastic views and climate of the Algarve. The villa has four well appointed bedrooms, all on-suite, and all of them open up to its spectacular gardens and a view of the Atlantic. It is this view and the warm, morning sun that we miss the most when we return home. There are parts of the villa that could do with a little updating but this does not detract from the overall enjoyment. The climb to the villa is quite steep and it is wise to pick the right time of day to do this when you are shopping or wandering to the beach. If your holiday budget stretches to a hire car then this might be a good idea especially if you have young or elderly guests.
The house is kept clean by Sylvia the housekeeper but we didn’t leave her too much to do. The pool is kept clean and chlorinated once a week and the gardens are tended to once a week as well.
The villa is managed by a company in the town of Praia da Luz and if we are being completely candid they don’t really do much whilst you are there, maybe it’s because it was our third visit.
The bars and restaurants are all superb and the locals are lovely and accommodating, there are absolutely no loud & raucous establishments so if that’s what you are after then it would be better to look elsewhere.
The Supermarkets are well stocked and don’t forget, they will deliver free of charge once you have shopped.
In summary, we will be returning and we couldn’t recommend this villa highly enough. Thanks Ruth for allowing us to share your family getaway. Phil & Carol
Dear Carol and Phil
Thank you for kind words. In fairness to the villa manager she is only there for emergencies and is not hired for full management Best wishes Ruth
Slightly dated but very welcoming.
We have known this property for over five years and although a little tired, it goes without question that it is a perfect family holiday location for several generations: grandparents, children and their children. The heated pool is an essential asset. Unfortunately, half of the pool umbrellas were useable.
The villa, whilst perfectly adequate, would undoubtedly benefit from further updating. In short it is looking little bit tired.
All of that said, we had a lovely holiday and would definitely return in the future.
Finally, support from local agent is somewhat dilatory, giving the impression that they are are not really very interested. A representative visited in week two but really only to deliver a bill and sell some tickets for a local attraction.
Thank you for your comments, yes, I must admit we do tend to go for comfort rather than style in order to keep the rental reasonable and affordable for the family. I am due out at the end of the month so I will have a good look and address some of the "tired". Sorry about the umbrellas, we do buy new ones every year but the wind in the Algarve is a challenge. I will arrange replacements. best wishes to you and your family Ruth

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in September. Even if the weather hadn't been marvellous (which it was) we would still loved this exceptional villa.
