Farmhouse, Barn and Stables in Ste. Croix du Beaumont, Dordogne - Peaceful, rural setting in the heart of the countryside close to all the great sites of the Dordogne
Les Noyers is converted from the original farmhouse and sleeps 4-6 (+ cot) and is comfortably furnished with a mix of vintage and modern furniture.
Downstairs is a large 7m x 7m dual aspect living room with an original 2.5 m wide chimney fitted with a woodburner. One of the 3 comfortable sofas is a double bed-settee. There is access to a private covered terrace with built in barbecue and patio furniture.
The kitchen/diner has outside access and is fully fitted with a dishwasher, ceramic hob and built in oven, microwave & extra large (125l) fridge with ice-box, electric cafetiere & slow cooker. The dining table will comfortably seat 6 people. There is also a downstairs cloakroom & seperate WC.
Upstairs are 2 bedrooms; the master bedroom with king size bed and seating area, the 2nd bedroom has a double & a single bed.
The family bathroom is tiled and fitted with bath with thermostatically controlled shower over, heated towel rail and shaver point.

We are David and Amanda Travis and in the past spent many holidays in France with our children and friends staying in privately owned gites. We had some very good and some not so good experiences!! As a result we were inspired to set up our own gites and Les Charmes has been receiving guests since 2006. We finally fulfilled our ambition to move to France in 2012 and now live here permanently.

Why Owner chose Sainte-Croix
We have always loved the Dordogne for it's pace of life; cuisine, wine and stunning countryside. Our property is off the beaten track and the sense of quiet is truly remarkable yet we are only 10 minutes drive from two local towns and about half an hour away from Bergerac airport. The properties are stone built and around 200 years old and we thoroughly enjoyed the renovation project which has brought the properties back to life after they were abandoned some 50 year earlier.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
We are conveniently located for all the major sites of the Dordogne and having a heated swimming pool really fulfills the one luxury that was always at the top of our list. As ours was a renovation project we basically started with empty shells - which has allowed us to plan the layout to make best use of space whilst retaining many original features. We have also made sure that the properties are equipped to the standard we would expect which means a full range of kitchen appliances, good quality knives and pans and above all a corkscrew!

Great stay at Les Charmes
We enjoyed 10 days at Les Noyers in September. The house was extremely comfortable and David and Amanda made us very welcome. Unfortunately, the weather didn't favour us so we were unable to take advantage of the lovely pool. We went to Monpazier for all our day to day shopping. Our favourite outing was to Chateau de Milandes - fascinating to hear of the life of Josephine Baker and explore her beautiful home. A good holiday despite the weather!
We have stayed here many times and cannot recommend it enough. If you want rest and relaxation then this is the place for you, set in miles of secluded countryside The Gites are first class with everything you need to make your stay very comfortable. The swimming pool is an excellent size and very well maintained. Our hosts Mandy and David are very welcoming always available to help yet non intrusive. Always enjoy reading Dave's T-shirts.
There is much to see and do in the surrounding area from canoeing the rivers to visiting many stunning villages and chateaux.
Already looking forward to our next visit.
We had a fantastic week staying at Les Noyers. Spacious and well equipped accommodation with private terrace. Totally tranquil setting, off the beaten track but easily accessible. David and Amanda were great hosts- always on hand and extremely helpful - even with a corkscrew! Weather was fantastic too.
Great location, ideally placed for touring (or relaxing!)
Lovely spot and great care taken by Dave and Mandy. Accommodation was to a good standard. Reassuring to have the owners on site ( next door). Great pool and sitting/ lounging area. I can definitely recommend Les Charmes.
Gorgeous place, great location
David and Amanda have done a lovely job of converting this old farm into three rental properties. They were very attentive hosts, and we especially appreciated how they put themselves out to introduce us to local people when we told them of our interest in the history of the area in World War II. Everything at Les Noyers is spotless and comfortable, and we especially enjoyed the beautiful outdoor eating area (with the scent of honeysuckle over dinner). The sunsets are spectacular, and being one of only two houses on a dead-end country road the place is completely peaceful. There are so many beautiful places nearby - Beaumont, Montpazier, Belves, Ste. Croix, etc. - that we never felt the need to go farther afield to the better known tourist sites. We'd love to return if possible - many thanks!
Excellent property in great location with friendly and helpful hosts
The property is a beautifully converted barn with all modern conveniences and appliances etc. The location is rural and therefore very peaceful - the loudest noise was perhaps the local cuckoo - but it is usefully close to a number of the area's attractions. Met and exceeded all expectations.
Travel: Driving: from the channel port of Calais it is about an 9 hour drive. Flying: Bergerac airport is about 30 minutes drive away and is now well served by low cost airlines: Bordeaux Airport is around 1hr 45mins drive. As we are a rural property a car is essential. Distances: Les Charmes lies between the Bastide towns of Monpazier 6km ("plus beaux villages de France") and Beaumont 7km. Beaumont has a bank, post office, tourist information centre and a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops including a supermarket open on Sunday mornings. It also has a weekly night market with live music and open air dining and bars - a great night out for all ages. Further Details: The area is rich in history and many local attractions and activities reflect both the history and culture of the area. You can sample the local specialties of Walnuts, plums, prunes, foie gras and especially "Cepes". In Sept Monpazier hosts its world famous nightly Cepe market. with a ncycling (bikes can be hired in advance of your holiday via our website), horse-riding is available close to Beaumont, you can go canoeing on the Dordogne or fishing in the many local rivers – a “carte de peche de tourisme” is required. For those who want to venture further a field – many of the sites and flavours of the region are within an hour or so drive, and include: • Sarlat – one of the Dordogne's prettiest and most famous towns. • La Roque Cageac – which hangs onto the cliff side of the Dordogne valley. • Domme – one of the most imposing Bastides in the Dordogne • Les Eyzies-de-Tayac - with the national museum of pre-history. • The caves of Lascaux – with the world famous cave paintings. • Chateau Monbazillac – where you can taste dessert wines to rival the best Sauternes. • St. Emillion – a beautiful village and home to some of the worlds best red wines. • Cahors – with its imposing medieval architecture. • Bordeaux – the regional city with its beautiful old town.

Booking Notes: Bookings can be made either by contacting the owners by telephone or using the owners website, where full terms and conditions can be found. A deposit of 25% is required to confirm a booking, the full balance is due 8 weeks before arrival. A security deposit of at least £150 per property is required. Changeover Day: Preferred changeover day is Saturday during high season, outside of this we may be able to be more flexible so please enquire. Access to the properties is from 4pm, and departure is 10am unless otherwise agreed. Notes on prices: Prices are per property per week and include all bedding & linen (except pool towels and cot linen) and cleaning. For bookings of 2 weeks a second linen change is included in the price. Additional cleaning can be arranged locally. Out of season a surcharge for electricity and wood may be applicable.
